A Note To All BMS Theater Developers
-
Good Day, All,
We of the BMS Fighters Mafia have been discussed working with the BMS Theater developers, specifically getting the cockpit files and such into your base installs. If you can’t find what you need in Mediafile or Gitlab ( links in my Signature) , just pm me. We’ll get you the Files you need.
We can provide cockpit and acdata files, and skins. -
Why not working with the BMS team to integrate your work?

All due respect but, you’re building on top of the BMS teams hard work. Seems like you should do your best to collaborate on their terms, not tersely suggest they go to your discord lol.

Im there, and i have no Idea what you actually are doing…
You are missing the point, and this is unfortunate -
The F-18 needs some love but the BMS won’t look into it for a while…
This is where it would benefit greatly the community if you decide to share this work with BMS to integrate it natively.@Mav-jp has already been very open about helping and giving directions.
BMS is about collaboration, it is your right to do your work on the side but we have to agree that combining efforts makes way more sense for the sake of the community.Anyway, up to you in the end…
Cheers

BMS Fighters Mafia
what is BMS Fighters Mafia?
-
may i mention that if you are not in close collaboration with BMS team, in the best case you will work with a 2 years lag and not only your work might be need to be redo at each release, but worst case could be lost entirely if we decide to change drastically the course of some data …

Hi, Guys, and thanks for the replies…
Max, I approached the Dev’s when we first did the cockpit fixes. I was told to send it through Bad Boy. He and I subsequently talked about it and decided, since at that time we were doing frequent file changes and we don’t know when BMS updates are released, that I would keep the Mafia Files current. We have done so, with Mediafile and now Gitlab… I have also talked directly with Mav, and made it very clear how much we want to work with the Dev’s. We would love to have our stuff “integrated”. Feel free to pass along to the Dev’s that if they can’t find what they want in the Files and/or the Discord, contact me directly and I’ll get it to them. And, Mav, if you remember our conversation, I hopefully made it very clear how enthusiastic we would be to be in close collaboration with you guys. You guys gave us the Hornet and the other jets, we so want to help you with them.
vAiCon, what we are doing is doing things to the “other fighters” what the Dev’s don’t have time for . That started with cockpit hotspots and has grown toward flight models, skins, etc. BTW, I wasn’t just dumping you onto Discord. I was simply inviting you to join the conversation there. I’m not sure if I’m “missing the point” or if the Mafia is. But, the point is that we are ALWAYS welcoming to the views of others. So, whatever point is missed, join us and you’ll be welcomed.
jstnj, you are exactly right. We are building on the foundation the Dev’s have laid. As I wrote above, and have posted on the Forum many times, we are extremely grateful to them for that foundation. And, I have to tell you we are “working on their terms”, as I wrote above.
Hi, Arty. I invite you to read the first post of the Project Bug( now BMSOFM Journal) thread. I go into it fully there. But, briefly we are a group a BMS members who believe that BMS is not just a Viper Sim. So, we have done what we could to help our Dev’s, outside theater developers, and the membership to get the most out of the “other jets”
And finally , Mav, and again this comes back to us being willing to help you. With U2 and now U3, the first thing we did was make sure the cockpit’s still worked. So far, so good. So, the ckptarts and acdatas have been there, and have been used by some Theater Dev’s. I can also promise you that should you decide to include us in future upgrades, we will be there for you. -
They are tools and info that can’t be shared outside the BMS team…
Now, if you think you have the skills and talent to be part of BMS that’s another story…
Contribution to BMS has unfortunately limits due to tools and code not being shared for very obvious reasons (especially with planes and systems).
Now, up to you to tell us what you think the next step is.
Cheers

Hi, Max,
We do understand, and have no problem with, the fact that hard code and other things are not shared outside of the Dev’s. But, things like the cockpit hotspot fixes have been available. And , as I wrote above, we would be very happy to get them to you in whatever way you would like.
I know we have the devotion and desire to be a “part of BMS”. As to what “skills and tools” we have, we invite the Dev’s to discuss that with us. I believe we can help, and also believe that our abilities will only increase with time. If you have followed Project Bug/BMSOFM Journal thread at all, you will read how we are “building the infrastructure” , developing ways to help in new areas like flight models.
I’m honestly unsure what you mean when you continue to write that “the next step is up to us”. Given that we have reached out to the Dev’s,and made our files available, my question is what step do you want? What do you want/need from us to facilitate us working closer together? And, PLEASE believe there is absolutely no malice in that question. Meanwhile, the best answer I can give regarding the" next step being up to us" to to share our current mindset. We as a group like to be open and sharing, and in no way “self-promoting”. We enthusiastically want to work with the Dev’s. If we can’t do that, then we will provide what we can to the Membership, just as we have done with the Mafia Files.
Max, to be honest I’ve been a bit hesitant to write my posts of the last couple of days, in responding to what’s been written here. We most emphatically do NOT want to be adversaries of the Devs!!!
All we care about is helping make BMS better. It really is as simple as that.
