Smoke
-
Hi Community
For demo purpose, I’d like to use the smoke function.
Default smoke is in white color.
Does BMS have any function to make changes to the smoke color for air show purpose? -
No, there is no function to change the color of the smoke. Possibly could be done with some modding, but I’ve no idea if this is true, or how.
-
Maybe its possible with editing the particle system ini file
Im not an expert in that issue, but you should wait for I-hawk, Arty feedback - they are the experienced ones -
@vaicon At least in particlesys.ini there are various definitions for smoke. I’d assuume that mainly the main_group.dds in TerrData/MiscTex might be worth to look at
definetexture=smoke_white texture.filename=main_group.dds texture.blendmode=smoke texture.uv=1024,512,1279,767

Thanks for the input.
Would be cool if the smoke color could be changed -
It can be done by editing the smoke color in the Particlesys.ini file. However that will always mean same color for all jets participating. The colors in PS ini is just RGB normalized between 0-1, so if you want to change then just open \Data\Terrdata\particlesys.ini with notepad or whatever and modify the contrail color (This trail work for both CTRL-S and altitude trails, we don’t have a separation yet):
id=trail_contrail
lifespan=0.1
handled=1
visibledistance=200000
emissivecolor=0 0 0
alpha[0]=.2
alpha[1]=0
size[0]=4
size[0]=4
diffusecolor=1 1 1
gravity=0
texture=trail1
drawtype=poly
inheritvelocity=1
trail.type=new
trail.emissionrate=25
trail.emissionratevariation=5
trail.lifespan=60 1
trail.delay=0.2
trail.initialsize=3.5
trail.initialsizevariation=0.5
trail.initialgrowthrate=10
trail.inheritvelocity=.01
trail.randomvelocity=5.5 2
trail.dragfactor=.1
trail.number=39Just change that color value to something else and you will see different color (e.g 1 0 0 is Red, 0 1 0 is Green etc)

@i-hawk Thank you so much. This is exactly what i need.
Will test tomorrow to see if in multiplayer environment with me being the server host, would other pilots also see my different smoke color too. -
This isn’t an MP thing, so every pilot will see the smoke color setup in his .ini file
In order to create something like different colors for different MP players, it will be more complicated and of course will require some code changes
