Hi,
Sorry, but I absolutely do not understand what to do …
1- I extracted the database
2- change a model by mine
3- add my texture with the others
4- I put your files in my “Object” folder
After I don’t know what to do … -
@repman
It looks like you’ve extracted the DB again, using my .bat, so \ _KTO_extract\Parents folder should be also there. Now put your .LOD into the extracted \ _KTO_extract\Parents\XXX folder,
then use my “build.bat” to compress the DB from that folder.
(make sure the paths in .bat match your install)Test insim.
Cheers,
LS -

@repman
After you’ve adjusted the paths inside both .bat (from C:\F4…) to match your BMS 4.35 location
using notepad,
run
3ddb_extract - Path.bat
to extract the DB into that _KTO_extract folder. It should not be empty now.
Put your .LOD into _KTO_extract\Parents\XXXXRun
3ddb_build - Path.bat
to compress the DB from that _KTO_extract folder.Else please read “F4 3D Database Builder.pdf” in your \tools folder.
It should help to explain the .bat files.
Cheers, :yo:

Also, take some time to read the F4 3D Database Builder.pdf located in the same TOOLS folder as the 3ddbuilder.exe. It explains how to extract, build and update the db.
-
Hi
I translated and read the manual, but it’s really not clear to me.
-
@repman
I have changed the .bat files (for the command line “CMD”, not for PowerShell) to match your install (C:\COPIE de Falcon 4.35)
https://www.mediafire.com/file/7base1j2wa9aibi/3ddb_builder_BAT2.rar/fileExtract those files and replace existing .bat files.
Then run the 3ddb_extract - Path.bat again and your already existing _KTO_extract folder
should become content, including a \Parents subfolder.Insert your .LOD into _KTO_extract\Parents\XXXX folder
Then run 3ddb_build - Path.bat to compress DB and check results insim.
Cheers,
LS -
First of all, thank you for your patience.
The extraction went well !
On the other hand, I no longer have the texture that is displayed.
She is well in “KoreaObj” and “KoreaObj_RiRes”The compression apparently went well, but I can’t see my model in Falcon BMS.
Yet as shown above in the discussion, the capture of the tower in Falcon corresponds to the LOD that I found after decompression.
Do you have any idea of the problem ? -
@repman Someday, we’ll have to meet on Discord … vocal and screen sharing, I will be able to show you more if you wish … and … simply chitchatting.
-
Hi Deejay,
With pleasure.
I am normally available on weekdays between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. -
@repman Je suis con!?! Pourquoi je te cause en anglais ici!?LOL
-
@repman Tu es dispo un peu là ?
-
Ooop … mistaking with Discord private message!!! All those social media looks the same now!
-
Thanks Dee-Jay !
Texture is back. -
@repman Hello, Looks nice ! Now you can proceed to LODs. For this kind of objects, I suggest this method :
- On the top, you have a button named : “manage layers”, click on it
- Select all your object
- On the top left hand corner, click on "create a new layer "
- Name your layer : “LOD_0”
- Click on the little “+”, your selected object will move to this layer
- Deselect all
- Create a new layer named “LOD_1”
- Check that on the top left hand corner or the viewports, the viewing mode is : “Orthographic”
- Select all your object
- Press CTRL+C
- Press CTRL+V
- On the new window, tick “copy”, and press “ok”
- Make sure that “LOD_1” is still selected
- Click on the little “+”, your model will be sent to this layer
- On the layers window, you have a “Hide” tab, please tick the little “-” front of “LOD_0”
- Only Layer named “LOD_1” will appear.
- Go to “Utilities”, on the very right side of the right stack (little hammer)
- Click on “More”
- Go down, and select “Polygon counter”
- A new window will appear, keep it opened. You can monitor your triangles level accurately.
- On the modifier tab, go to “Editable mesh” (some people will complain that “Editable Poly” is better, but “Editable Mesh” is simple and works perfectly)
- On “Selection Tab”, click on the three red dots “Vertex”
- Select all the vertexes of your model. They will shift from blue to red.
- On the right stack, go down to “Weld” Tab
- Front of “Selected” tab, you can enter a figure
- This figure will tell at which distance vertexes will weld.
- Play with it, to reach a 50% triangles gain for each LOD. If your LOD0 is about 5000 triangles, please try to reach 2500.
- After that, adjust your smoothing, like described in my previous checklist.
- Your model will then look uglier than LOD0, but will still be perfectly coherent. Other methods used may consist by removing parts are often not soefficient, because you may notice parts and disappearing, in game.
There is other ways to make LODs, but this is the most simple for simple objects !
That being said : assuming that your model has less than 500 triangles, this phase it not mandatory. But I think it’s good for you to experiment with it, for your next models.
Cheers,

Hi Radium,
Thanks for the advice.
I look at this as soon as I get to see my prototype model in Falcon. -
Hi,
ok, i cannot replace an existing model in Falcon with my model.
This is how I do it.Method 1
1-I create a copy of Falcon “COPY_Falcon BMS 4.35”
2- in the “objects” folder I put the following two files.
3- I run the extraction
4- once finished, I have two new folders (LODs and Parents) in the “objects” folder
5- in the “Parents” folder I find the control tower (parent 1934) that I want to replace with my test model.
6- I replace the control tower with my model and I put the texture with it to visualize it in openGLLOD.
7-I run the compilation with the command “. \ 3ddb_builder.exe / build” in PowerShell.
apparently all this goes well …
8- once finished, the LODS and Parents folders remain in the “Objects” folder. Is this normal?
9-I open Falcon and … it is still the control tower which has not been replaced by my model.
Any ideas ?

@repman
what’s wrong with my .bat files?
They worked fine for you already, no?I don’t understand why you start with Powershell again.
I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with Powershell.- Yes, extracted DB files remain there until you delete them.
Cheers,

Did you transfer the edited object folder in Falcon theater (data) terrdata folder?
