New free MFD/ICP app to control Falcon BMS from touch devices
-
<p>@jayb It stops the stream as well, when you leave that screen for the ICP (not need to stream all those precious bytes if you’re not even going to see them <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f604.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–smile” /> )<br />And yes, the more complex the pictures are (in that there is more high-frequency detail in them), the bigger are the packets for each frame. But in my testing it only went up to something like 11mbps (I don’t remember the quality settings) with both the MAV and the TGP screens visible, so on a decent Wifi that should work. However, sustained data rates across Wifi: YMMV.<br /><br />I will soon publish the better version of the server to github. Stand by.</p>

<p>@jayb I will check it out! Thanks!</p>

<p>I have published a new version of the server executable that is more resilient to dropped enet packets on sending RTT streams to clients.<br />If you have a really long network blip (over 6s at 30fps), it will still assume your client died and stop sending data to it.<br /><br /><a href=“https://github.com/kungfoo/falcon-bms-control/releases/tag/server-0.5” target=“_blank”>https://github.com/kungfoo/falcon-bms-control/releases/tag/server-0.5</a><br /><br />You can continue to use the
1.3.0
clients. </p> -
<p>NICE!!</p>
-
<p>@kungfoo <br /><br />I’ve been anxiously watching for your update. Thank you.<br /><br />GC<br /></p>

<p>On request (and also because it was fairly easy to do) I created a Linux client. This can help with touch enabled devices that are not fast enough to run Windows 10 but can easily run Linux. The client is available as an appimage, so running it should be as simple as anywhere else.<br /><br />Check it out here: <a href=“https://github.com/kungfoo/falcon-bms-control/releases/tag/client-1.3.1” target=“_blank”>https://github.com/kungfoo/falcon-bms-control/releases/tag/client-1.3.1</a><br /><br />Oh: and there is a 32 bit windows build as well.</p>

<p>@kungfoo Excellent !</p>

<p>@kungfoo that is a great app! I just installed it on my android tablet, and it worked immediately! Thank you! <br />Also a small suggestion since it seems to be a lot of space going to waste :-), for a better no keyboard - mouse experience, maybe you can add Fence IN - Fence Out options like main light switch and master arm On -Off or even autopilot switches. <br /><br />Thank you for a great tool! </p>
-
<p>@danaos75 Yeah, I am still pondering on how to implement those and hook into the callbacks, so users don’t have to do anything for it to work. Right now, to properly support for example AP tri-state switches, one would have to find free keyboard bindings for the appropriate callbacks, as the default keyfile does not have them. That’s a very bad user experience, and I’d like to avoid that.<br />A future version of BMS may well offer a better way for external applications to invoke callbacks, rather then pretend to be a keyboard. Maybe one of the BMS devs can shed some light on how the ‘issue named callbacks over a socket’ feature is going. :)<br /></p>

@kungfoo I couldn’t get the app to work with 4.36. Is this your experience? If yes then any chance of an update? I love the app
-
@wazza69
Check to see if this line is set to 1 in Falcon BMS.cfg or Falcon BMS User.cfg:set g_bExportRTTTextures 1 // This enables the shared texture memory area for HUD/MFDs/HMS/RWR/DED/PFL
-
@wazza69 it works ok , just tried it … all ok. stable .
But not quite happy with mfds size , could be bigger on 10.1" , there’s still unused space on tablet screen.
@kungfoo is there a way to make app auto-fit better on android? to utilize whole space… mfd’s are smaller then when I zoom my view with trackir on my monitor … well, understandable.
I am using primarily because of mfd buttons , but if you can enlarge mfds it would be shaggy
Cheers
-
Hi does anyone have problem with the dobber switch in app? Other button works fine tho…
-
@white_fang Afaict the newest client versions should enlarge the mfds to fit the screen size, as long as they can keep the square aspect ratio. Maybe a screenshot of your device can illustrate your layout? Are you using the newest client?
-
@kungfoo Yes, no prob, 'ere you are, screenshots from device.
ICP is what it is from top to bottom , but there’s about 1" - 1.5" space below mfds.
-the 3rd pic i another, older, mfd android software … abut amazingly it still works -- aaah , now I figured why , I had the feeling … burt now when compared side to side … I see clearly , well blimey , it is not A BIG difference , but I somehow felt it , as I was using that other soft for years … so that’s it.
- will try ingame shots , when I fire up today…
Cheers
-
I’m still waiting for the triptych version, so you can separate the ICP/DED/RWR and two MFDs onto their own screens
-
MFD dimensions and visuals are great now the way they are. I wouldn’t change a thing on that.
I still get the freezing issue regularly. When server will still take inputs, but screens aren’t refreshed any more. Not a big deal, but just a thought: Would it make sense that the App would have a button in a corner so that the corresponding server display module could be reset so to restart sending images again?
Would avoid tabbing out of BMS to restart the server. -
@Logic Ok, … well , you wouldn’t change anything , but let me be clear, it isn’t you to make that call.
WHY ON EARTH ANYONE WOULDN’T want it bigger , even women would disagree.
THERE IS not even needed to say REASON BEHIND IT … to have a bigger MFD’s , - TO SEE BETTER
Why do I even have to mention it …BUT SMALLER ??? what the hell
tshk tshk , if it isn’t just :opposing force" … Well, that’s just childish.
