Thank you very much all of you guys for your kindly words!
I really hope to like my latest work for nice Panama theater.
Also be sure to read the useful infos about the execution of the procedures from “MAIP Panama theater.pdf” file (pages 3-5), they will make your life easier with real procedures and understand some things ;).
If you need any help about the execution of the procedures, feel free to ask me. My pleasure to help you.
See you soon at my next work :p.

Hi Nikos,
will this theatre be included by the WPD as well ? Or is it all ready WIP ?
Guess, I had seen a post from Falcas - who ask if it should be.
Other Question:
TA in Korea –- 14.000
TA in Aegean —18.000
TA for Panama — ??.???regards

Hi my good friend Reinhard.
Well about your questions, let me tell you these: 1st i already have sent a “pm” to Falcas and ask him to do that and that he has my permission for that. Also whatever support with data needs by me, i will provide him ;).
So now it’s up to Falcas if he has time to do it and he wants to. From me he is “good to go” :p.
About your 2nd question, we have from real life: each country has its own rules, that means that we have countries with one T.A. (Transition Altitude) for all airports in the country as also we have countries that have a specific T.A. for each airport.
Now after a check i can tell you:- For South Korea we have probably one T.A. for all airports and it is at 14,000 FT. I have checked from real charts the airports:
Incheon Intl (RKSI), Gimpo Intl (RKSS), Cheongju Intl (RKTU) and Pohang (RKTH). - For Greece and Turkey we have in sure different T.A. for each airport, e.g. in Greece Alexandros Papadiamandis (LGSK) in Skiathos island has 4,000 FT T.A. and Larissa airbase (LGLR) has 11,000 FT T.A.
In Turkey Corlu (LTBU) has 10,000 FT T.A. and Antalya (LTAI) has 15,000 FT T.A. - For Panama we have probably one T.A. for all airports and it is at 18,000 FT. Panama gives officially charts only for 6 airports and all of them has 18,000 FT T.A.
These airports are: Bocas Del Toro Intl (MPBO), Enrique Malek Intl (MPDA), Enrique Adolfo Jimenez (MPEJ), Marcos A. Gelabert Intl (MPMG), Panam Pacifico (MPPA) and Tocumen Intl (MPTO).
Also as you can see in my charts for Bocas Del Toro Intl (MPBO) and Tocumen Intl (MPTO) i give the real 18,000 FT T.A.
Bocas Del Toro Intl (MPBO):
Tocumen Intl (MPTO):
I think that it is clear now
See you my friend.

-
I tried the two approaches yesterday, and also tried the airports.
I first went for the Non precision approach at Bocas Del toro INTL on rwy 34.
As soon as i was in range for the VORTAC i switched my HSI mode to TACAN.
I intercepted the 304 radial inbound. Passing over the VORTAC at 3000 ft, 300 kts i made a left turn to intercept the 065 radial and strted slowing down to 230 kts.
At 4 dme, i watched my tracking of radial 065, and since it was a direct entry into the hold, the only thing i had to do was to wait for 8 dme and then do a left turn heading 245.
Since my airspeed was 230, to have a rate 1 turn, i made those calculations to have the right bank angle for a rate 1 turn.
(230/10)+7 = 30 degrees of bank.
So i look onto my attitude indicator, bank the plane so that i stay on the 30 degrees and turn in level until i have 245 on my HSI. Don’t forget to compenate for the wind effect in a hold. Wind was 178 at 13 kts. This means the wind is going to push you outside your holding pattern when inbound, and inside the holding pattern when outbound. So you have to apply a correction angle.
After two holding patterns, i kept going on my 065 radial until reaching 8 dme, and selected course 095 on my HSI, i like the 30 degrees.
Woorks fine with 300 kts at 37 degrees of bank angle ( 300/10)+7= 37.
Interception of the lead radial and turn right to intercept 331 and descent to the prescribed altitudes.
Since it s a non precision approach at the minimums, you will be a little bit offset to the right of the runway, i then turn a bit to the left and then again to the right to be aligned and did a touch and go.
Took-off again on runway heading, selected sterrpoint 3, entered gpd cordinates from Tocumen International.
At around 70 dme you can receive the VORTAC, again i went into TACAN mode on the HSI and turned the course selector until i got an TO indication and my course deviation indicator was centered, i was on radial 105 to the station. So i was coming in from the south- East.
Looking on the chart see that the radial i want to intercept is the 170, so that radial will be to my left.
I went for flying over the VORTAC and di a right turn at 230 kts with a rate 1 bank angle. I choose right because i wanted to be virtually outside the approach turns etc … and the wind was going to push my outside on a right turn, which is good here sinc i want space to be able to turn into my 170 radial.
I didn’t go for a hold, i went straight to 12 dme at 300 kts, did my turn to have a 14 dme arc interception, intercepted my lead radial, switched then to TCN/ILS on my HSI.
Turned my HSI course to 050 for visual references only ( well the Localizer and Glide slope are receiveable when you are in their cone of reception, it doesn’t matter if you HSI course is set to the one of the runway, you will still receive the signal, but it is easier for the pilot to have a visula reference of an heading, so he can see how much degrees left or right he is offset.)
Went down to the minumums, and landed that beauty. Beacon signal comes in at the right sport.
Note that on the approach chart, there is a scetch of the runway treshold lights and approach lights.
ALSF-1 indicates you that on this runway the ILS is only for CAT 1 approaches.
If you look on Bocas Del Toro INTL, you see ASLF-2 whci is for CAT 2 and 3 ILS approaches. So that means that our friend Nikos doing the charts here will certainly provide us with an ILS aproach too for Bicas Del Toro INTL
Only thing that is missing is the runway touch down zone markings, dependng on the type of approach conducted on a runway, there are specific markings and lightings on the runway. For example, on an ILS runway there should be on the centerline of the runway, a row on white lights. But i am sure this is WIP.
I really enjoyed those approaches, nice work Nikos

What model of Airbase in Korea.obj database represents 09-27 configuration of the runway?

If you mean the 09/27 airport, the only one inside Panama theater is the “La Candelaria” airport and i think it is the model type “545 Osan”.
Nikos. -
Thanks - Osan 545. Actually in Panama you made 3x 09-27s: Finca, Mandelaria and Mamitubo; they are small strips.

Hi my friend Ted.
Well that’s twice wrong :p.
First i didn’t make the terrain of Panama theater as also to place the airports. If i don’t make wrong, Malcolm did that. I was created the NavAids, their list, 2 IAP charts and made some corrections. The airports with their runway type already exists.
And second Panama theater has 1 airport with runway orientation 09/27, it is the “La Candelaria” and has model type “545 Osan” and 2 airstrips with runway orientation 09/27, the “Finca 67” and the “Mamitupo” with model type “Highway Strip EW”.
I hope to be clear for you now ;).
Nikos. -
All is good.

Very nice to see that Panama is going forward. I just arrived back from my favourite RL Balkans vacation from the Istrian peninsula (Croatia). For all of you just familiar with the Falcon map: NW of Pula: Poreč.
As soon as I get back home (I spend some days with my parents) I’m really looking forward to test the new release. I will try on going against warsaw pact forces and prevent ping pong waves later in campaign. Maybe I’m even able to proceed farther into the east with ground forces (and let you know how to).Cheers

Hello guys.
Well it was time to be updated the NavAids of Panama theater, now that Gavin released the new version.
So here we are:
A few last checks as also the updating of the Panama MAIP, and then to your hands ;).
