Good news!!! Came back from the doctor today and no need to have a second surgery YET. The infection seems to be healing with the antibiotics…he wants to check it again in a week.:D
Benchie, already tried that! But thanks! Dave has given me a few more tips I still have to try.
Cheers!
Good good news !!! Hope everything will be fine !!

Hey guys!
Just a quick update of how things are going…
With the invaluable help of WaveyDave, I´ve managed to make the MFDs completely functional with working OSBs and I´ve also managed to make the HUD work properly. The pit now feels much more believable and is much more functional! Managed to do a few carrier landings with it!! Turns out I had all sorts of issues with export scales, system units, hotspots units…
I´ve now moved onto instruments and gauges, with DOFS and switches….and of course again I ran into trouble. WDave is generously helping me again but if anybody else feels confident with this it would be great if they could give me a hand to reduce his workload! :p… He´s been very patient…till now I haven’t given up on the modelling, I know there is still a lot to do, but I feel like knowing what lays ahead will help me be more efficient in the modelling in the future.
Its just hard to work on this as I have no previous experience modding Falcon or for any other sim…and there is not a lot of documentation or general information out there. I feel like I probably was way too ambitious with the project and it might not go anywhere without heavy input from the people that know, the “savoir faire”. Still, I’m having fun and I am learning a lot which where two of the main goals for starting this adventure!
Have a nice bank holiday, UK people, and a not too bad Monday for everybody else!
Pepe
PS: BMS Team, is it ok to put the BMS logo in the InGame images?

Hi there my friend.
Thank you very much for your hard efforts!

Just keep it high.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnn awesome work!!!

well mykinge I don’t thing that are alot of ppl know that. Proof the 3dpits where done just once and never redone. Which is the case and now with current F-16 pit. Some skins for them maybe yes but that’s not 3d pit making.
So man mostly u r on your own… Suck out whatever anyone has to offer and when done it will be a great time to catch up on the F-16 and give us a reduced detail model that maybe will help alot of ppl with their FPS. Actoually I was going to ask u to create 3 versions of it. One super ultra high detail one medium and one low. How do u define those levels? U make up your own rule. Lower polys and etc maybe half size or by hand reduced to the minimum? So to compare the FPS impact it will have on Campaign day one Heavy weather… If with those u can score >30 FPS on all cases than u have a winner. Maybe in the future u could declare the standards for 3d pit creations. Like don’t make your pit above xx.xxx polys it will totally kill the FPS. -
Keep going……
great job.

Work with balls man!!! Love the Tomcat and thanks to you will be able to fly this baby in BMS combat enviroment!!!
Best wishes for quick recovery!!! -
Thanks for all your comments guys! Nice to see people excited about the pit.
Arty, I am afraid that I’m not the man for the job you suggest, you should try to talk to somebody from BMS for that! I barely know what I’m doing and suck big time at 3d modelling, the pit its a complete mess, but somehow looks half decent.
WaveyDave I need to annoy you some more so clear your inbox!!

Looking great so far, well done!
As for LOD’ing later for different systems, it’s not so hard but I’d just aim for the F16 quality already which ‘fits’ the rendering engine really really well imo!
There is always tons more that can come from faking in specular highlights to suggest rounded edges, ambient occlusion and all manner of other things into the textures. Done just right it’ll add more than higher res textures or more polygons considering this rendering engine
Once the geometry is done doing a really nice UV unwrap into your texture space will be a great move then you can just add in oodles of details to all the surfaces and make them really come to lifeI look forward to seeing more progress
Cheers
