Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37
-
I’m having trouble getting my canopy close switch (while holding it), to work.
I’ve tweaked my profile in Helios Profile Editor to include the new momentary close position, but it still only closes for a split-second and stops.
Here are my settings:
I’ve added these lines to my BMS-Ices’s Helios Profile key file:
AFCanopyToggle 115 0 0x13 4 0 0 1 “LEFT WALL: CANOPY - Toggle (new Shortcut)”
AFCanopyOpen 115 0 0x2F 5 0 0 1 “LEFT WALL: CANOPY - Open (new Shortcut)”
AFCanopyClose 115 0 0x2F 6 0 0 1 “LEFT WALL: CANOPY - Close (new Shortcut)”Any ideas of what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks! -
@Icer Not even imported anything, I just modified the default Viper pilot profile and loaded my own .key file. I’ve noticed now that it’s not just the MFD exports that is laggy but even the fuel flow gauge or even the engine RPM gauge. There will be a few brief moments when they are smooth but most of the time, they are laggy.

Exactly my symptoms, along with uninstalling I did make a fresh profile also, so not sure exactly what fixed it…

@Icer Out of curiosity, how do you position your monitors?

@Icer Okay… I was just wondering if positioning the Helios screens left of- or right of the display monitor was a factor. Thanks!

Should not matter whatsoever as long as you position the outputs on them… have you tried RTT for the MFD exports? That worked smoothly (for the MFDs) until I did the dance…

@Icer RTT? No, never needed to since the Helios profile seemed to do it automatically?
But even without the exports, why would the gauges and dials have lag/stutters on them as well?

When you say “without the exports”, you mean on the 3D screen itself? Mine were always smooth, only the Helios exports stuttered, RTT export did not. As to the “why”, no idea…

@Atlas SharedMemory polling is roughly 30 Hz. Thats the rate at which Helios will poll for updates. That is NOT the rate at which Helios will update MFD extractions . If you are seeing lag then there is something else going on. I’ve seen issues where the monitor refresh rate was different between monitors which caused lag in getting updates from SharedMemory. Have you looked at your CPU performance when running BMS and Helios? Helios is all CPU bound and most of BMS is as well. Do you have any AntiVirus running ondemand scanning / processor scanning these types of things. What .NET Framework version do you have installed? Helios is design “still” for .NET 4.7.2. I personally have .NET Framework 4.8 install on my Windows 10 and everything runs smoothly.
So that’s something else to check.

@Icer I think I ticked one of those RTT boxes last time so the game starts up and Helios does not display the MFDs and RWR, I think? Basically, I could see my desktop background through Helios. Even then, without those being exported, the profile was laggy. Because the MFDs weren’t exported, that’s when I noticed that even the RPM gauge and other gauges would be laggy.
@Todd1215 My touchscreens are 60Hz IIRC, my main display is 120Hz. I’ll look at CPU performance next time. AV is just the normal Windows Security. Looks like I have .net 4.8

If RTT Client is Enabled in the Helios Falcon Setup tab you would need to have RTTClient.ini set up properly to display anything.

@Icer Yeah, I was just playing with it, I still don’t know what I’m doing for 99.5% of the time.

If RTTClient is set up correctly this is what you should see before getting in the cockpit… (just set to display MFDs, no gauges).
-
@Icer Any advantage of RTT vs. the default Helios way of doing it?

Only if Helios shows a stuttering framerate, otherwise no, just use Helios.
-
@Icer well, like I said, I’d probably blame the exports if it was the only one that was stuttering but it seems like even the gauges are laggy as well so maybe it’s an issue with Helios?
-
@Atlas can you put one of the gauges on your main display where BMS is rendering in 3D and see if the lag is still present?
-
@Todd1215 I… would not have a clue how to do that.

@Atlas
Just open the profile with the Profile Editor and drag and drop some of the gauges from the Falcon Simulator section of the Toolbox, on the left hand side, onto your main monitor. Then save the profile.
