Falcon Web Remote v1.0
-
The main reason I created this was that I wanted to use my iPhone as an input device for Falcon and especially as an ICP. I know there is a paid solution out there doing that (and more obviously) but since I could do it for free, I thought I should give it a try.
The basic principle is very simple. There is a program running on your pc that acts like a web server. You open Safari on the iPhone and navigate to the ip address of your computer (and the port if different than 80) and open a web page with the buttons. Pressing the buttons on the page makes the application on the pc to send the appropriate keystrokes.
The bad thing is that I noticed a little bit of lag (not very serious) but again I haven’t tried the other solutions so I can’t compare results. The good thing is, it’s fully customizable (you can make a html page with any F-16 panel you like) and because it’s a web page, you don’t have to install anything on your device. Actually, you can run it from any device connected with your pc with a network. It runs on Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, linux etc, the only thing is that your device has a browser and connectivity to your pc. Here’s how the web page looks like. Remember, this is for iPhone (3G) and designed to be run as Web App.
You just need basic html knowledge (and there are programs out there doing the job for you) to modify the web page so the panel and callbacks to send to Falcon. There are no instructions so far, but there is a readme installed (you have to open it manually from Program Files folder) explaining some things and you can always study the web paged shipped with the program.
You can download it from here: http://sakgiok.gr

I wanted to use my iPhone
M8 i am really happy we both have this beauty! It is the first; solution for iPhone as i am aware of.
-
There are at least 3 that I’ve seen.
This one gives a photo-realistic solution for iPhone or iPad:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?7486-TouchControl&p=106720&viewfull=1#post106720
Cost £4.99 + £1.49
I thought it was worth it as there is so much you can do with this software. Your call.

not Greek  not free and not having the ability to choose key file… so no go.
lol looking at it again to setup commands it’s a nightmare… For a payware this work should be done by the program and not by the user. Sakis approach on the subject is light years ahead…

In your opinion. You’re wrong of course about the key file and ease of setup but nobody is forcing you to try and if you’re happy with Monster’s solution I’m happy for you. I think it’s fantastic that we have so many talented people out there and so many of them Greek
I was merely responding to Raptor’s post about it being the first solution for iPhone that he was aware of.
Arty, I appreciate from your many posts on the subject that you prefer free software and I have no issue with that. Please do your homework though before making sweeping statements about software you don’t have/use.
ps for the non-Greek would you please explain the joke in your sig

I read the manual first… so I did my homework… also in the post says “looking at it again” not thinking but giving a second look on the subject and the program…

I missed this programm and thanks to Arty I found it.
Thought that maybe more members missed it so I gave a reply.
Is a bit slow do to network connection but works perfect and most of all goes almost with everything I test it (tablet or phone) that can be connected to your home network
I am thinking that it would be nice to put it in –> BMS Mod/Software/Cockpit/Texture/Misc Central List

What’s the difference between this app and TouchDown?
I didn’t test touchdown yet
But I found this one very good because is ICP ready and most of all can read the .key that you prefer (e.g. bms.key or other) is perfect for the members that don’t know htm or to write macros

What’s the difference between this app and TouchDown?
Well, I should answer that just to make it clear.
It’s not an OS specific app, all you need is a device (notebook, iphone, android phone, tablet, toaster whatever ) with ethernet connectivity to your pc (wired or wireless) and a browser. Nothing else, nothing is installed on your device. The buttons are on a webpage so if you have some basic html knowledge, you can use it as any panel you’d like. See my first post for more details.
-
TouchDown does the same thing, although it has the flexibility to use more than one web page for the interface. Can this do that as well? I may try porting my multi-panel F-16 cockpit to it if it can handle it.
-
Well, I’m not an expert and since I don’t own Touchdown I may be wrong here but, as far as I understand, you need to purchase Touchdown and then install it on your device in order to use it (with the appropriate PC program). Here you only have one program running on your PC and since your device already has a browser, you only need to fire it up and connect to your PC. Moreover, you can have all the pages you want as long as you edit the html files for your needs.
Anyway, this isn’t a competition, it’s free so you can try it and see if it suits your needs :). As I said before, I made it for my iPhone so my objectives were fulfilled :).
-
I installed your program but haven’t tried it yet in-game, but as far as I can tell, it does the same thing. Touchdown is free, and just runs on the host, and also uses a mini-web server to serve pages to any device to emulate keystrokes.
My first attempt with it was to emulate the MFDs on my iPad, before i bought an actual set of Thrustmaster MFDs.

Upgraded to v1.1.0. See http://sakgiok.gr for download info.
If you upgrade you need to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one.

Hi Monster,
I have installed your program And just tested it for a short time.
Runs well with ICP ansd it is my first request.
It seems to have an inversion for me between MFD.But very simple to configure and use (with iphone 5)
Thanks for your job.Wingedsky " Windblow"

Hello Monster, only a question.
Is posible to use this program to send keystrokes between two Pc´s but using the keyboard?
My problem is I have a RS hardware that only can use in W32 (no W64 driver) and I want to use that buttons as MFD´s and ICP.
I´m looking for the way to send the keystrokes generated by this hardware across the lan, to Falcon Pc (w64). And that is my question….is possible, pushing this buttons, to send the keystrokes generated to the BMS Pc?
And is possible to use with DCS too?
Thanks in advance and best regards…:)

Hi Skorp,
In theory you could achieve what you ask by editing the web pages served by the program to accept hotkeys and behave like pushing the buttons with keystrokes. This would require some javascript in the html code of the web page but it’s possible. On the other hand, it would be easy enough for me to make a client that doesn’t display a web page but just sends the appropriate commands when you press a key. I’ll give it a look and let you know.
For the second question, it should work with any program that has the focus at the moment the command arrives. The only problem is that it is specialized for Falcon so it loads only its config file and you don’t have the ability to change the keystrokes.

Wooow….that´s fantastic.
You are my hero, Monster.
Thank you very much…thank you.

It took a while as time is an issue for me right now, but I think I made the little client program I promised above.
Go to http://sakgiok.gr and look for Falcon Web Remote Client. This is just a client that you can run on a second pc, instead a web browser, with the ability to capture keypresses.
