TGP in SEAD/DEAD

The Training Manual, on page 139, talks about using TGP to view HARM targets. How would one use the TGP to find ground targets in this case? Is there a connection between designating targets under the cursors in HAD and where the TGP looks?

Depending on the mode, yes you can.
if you have a valid mark/steer/target point over the target, then you can slave both the TGP and the HARM (in POS ) modes to this target.

Not his question.

YES. In HAD mode, the TGP slaves to where you designate a target. (as of 4.36.1)

Hi, Danster. I haven’t had time to really test this, but I believe the short answer is yes. If you lock the HAD on a position , it’s supposed to now create a steerpoint, and that can be made a SPI.
Why don’t you try this-When you get a HAD contact, it’s probably going to be a PGM of around 5. Beam your target until PGM is as close to 1 as you can get, and TMS up with HAD as SOI. Your TGP should be on, or near the target. -
@drtbkj If that’s so, it’s good news ( assuming it is , at best BMS guess, realistic). I’m certainly going to try it.
But then again what about the strict no strafing advice…

As the poet said" it’s time to get medieval, I’m going in for Guns" . It’s fun, but can be hazardous to your health
