@Radium Wonderful Job Radium !
Another piece of gold for your treasure ! -
Hello,
when doing a model like Lavi, what is the most interesting is to figure out what would have been possible or not.
Recently, I had a big debate with myself, trying to guess what would have been the heaviest payload possible on Lavi
Here we go :
There is about 4 tons of bombs here which is totally possible for both structural and geometry reasons.
Contrary to what early expectations mentioned, itâs now clear that aft hardpoints wouldnât have been able to carry MK82s for geometry reasons, while it would be possible for both BL755 and MK81.
Also, because I found that stock MER needed some love, I decided to make a new one :
So, everything on my Lavi is now at the same standard.
Contrary to what I earlier said, Topolo is already checking and giving his expertise on my flight model. Thank you very much for him !
I also did a lot of little edit on my Lavi, to bring her to the best standard.
Stay tuned,
Radium

Hello everyone !
Today, I am going to ask for some help.
I tried to implement Ptype25 on my Lavi, but⌠There is an issue.
I tried numerous times to solve it, but I canât solve it. Here is what I have :
Any idea ?
Thank you !
Radium
Can we also know how can the ptype25 or other materials set up correctly?
-
Hello,
Thatâs easy.
- vertexpaint : vertex
- smoothing : smoothingroup
- RGB color
- No alpha
In : \AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg
Please place this file :

Here you go !

Hello everyone,
I am very happy to release v1.0 of my Lavi !
Itâs an early package, ready for open beta, in v0.95.
That being said, please do not include it in your theaters for now, as we still need to enhance the flight model, @TOPOLO is on it.
But because main functions of the aircraft are already there, I thought is was a good idea to share it with you.
No executable file, for now, itâs just a developer built.
Get it here !
Big thanks to @vAiCon for his great contribution !!!
Enjoy !

@Radium Great job, congrats for this new milestone my friend !!!
-
@Radium great work, congratulations!
-
Hello,
some news here !
-
About flight model, Topolo is hardworking to offer you the most accurate FM as possible. I received a new version today, I will conduct tests soon. Tnak you buddy !
-
I realized that Lavi fuel tank was missing. I just did one :
I tried to give it the most realistic bare metal looking.
Next weekend, I think that Lavi v1.0 will be released⌠@vAiCon please be ready to put it into ITO !
About cockpit, I still didnât decided if we will make one or not, main reason being that I miss so many references, like a nice picture of the throttle for example, not talking about some explanations about cockpit setup, best pictures being these two ones :
Stay tuned !

Awesome work on the exterior, its looking great!
Very interesting how the MFD pages in the right image look very similar to those that ended up in the JF-17.
Just one small note I noticed in this video :
At points around 0:28, 1:00 and on touchdown at 1:07 shows that the Lavi has the foreplanes directed to pitch the aircraft up (trailing edge down) rather then down (trailing edge up) as I saw in your video and screenshots above.
This makes much more sense to me from an aerodynamics stand point, as drooping the entire trailing edge of the wing as a âflapâ of sorts for landing would create a huge pitch down moment, the foreplanes would need to be creating lift to counteract that pitching moment.
Regardless amazing work!

Hello,
thank you for your report and relevant point, here is my answer :
The biggest issue here is that BMS doesnât contains any specific line of code for canards.
It means that I can only do a couple of comprises, to try to get a quite realistic position of canards.
This is where the issue is : canards position depends on a lot of factor, such as flying mode, AoA, position of gears, roll, pitch and even yaw.
I am really embarrassed, because for now, I canât represent the approach mode for canards especially because BMS doesnât make a difference between take-off and landingâŚ
I tried a couple of solutions, but they were irrelevant for the rest of the flight. 5% won versus 95% !
For now, as I said, I donât have a solution. But I am still checking for one !

Understood.
I thought it might be a BMS limitation.
In which case having it correct for normal flight makes more sense.Cheers
-
the canards and TEF may use two sets of Xswitch 2 or 3, to switch the DOF directions between normal flight and takeoff/landing phase.
-
@ccc1tw hello, I am afraid it doesnât works like that !
-
Hello,
just to let you know that I am now working on :
-
Canards movements enhancement (For now, unsuccessful to get something nice, especially on landing mode). I tried a couple of solutions, issue is mostly the interactions with the other functionalities implemented. Because I do not have any control on Gx. This is the only way to differenciate flight modes, especially because Lavi uses AFM, and is not an OFM aircraft. I guess, if it was OFM only, it would be easier.
-
Afterburner : I try to have something a little bit progressive (not too much, because it is not like that in real life), but I canât get something good. Afterburner is an additional injection of fuel which does not changes RPM, for this reason, itâs never something that slides out of the nozzle.
-
I tried to use DOF38, but itâs totally fucked up and I canât get a nice result. I tried by both translation and scale vectors, but it doesnât works.
-
Also, I found that this DOF is linked with these acdata parameters :
sndAbExt 39 #External high RPM & afterburner roar - Heard mostly from the rear at close and medium distance - DO NOT CHANGE "RPM" VALUES!!! - THEY ARE NOT PURE RPM BUT FROM A FORMULA TIED TO RPM & NOZPOS CHARTS! sndAbExtChart 2 1.0000 0.00 1.0300 1.00 sndAbExtPitchChart 5 0.0000 0.80 0.7000 1.00 0.9600 1.20 0.9700 1.00 1.0000 0.90
Which is really strange (I took this example from Manosâ Mirage F1 acdata).
-
I enhanced a bit the main texture file, especially the under grey part.
-
Because nothing works well, I will do some data gathering about Griffin bomb, to help my friend vAIcon to implement it into ITO.
-
No v1.0 before next week, because I want this version to be really clean.
Stay tuned !

@Radium
Good to hear this.
Because some plane especially with the canard they use them like a brake surface after the landings.
When the nosegear touch the ground the canard turn almost totally vertical to maximise the brake area.
Or the Ailerons and flaps also move out this way.The afterburner can change to use particle system instead of textures ?
-
@repvez Hi !
Thank you for your comment. Finally, I found a way to have a progressive afterburner, and I am happy of the result ! See it in v1.0 !
Coming back to canards issues.
Regards,
Radium
-
Gentlemen,
I just did a little video for you to see what I did for Lavi afterburner.
For some reason, video compression doesnât shows afterburner textures with the finest details, but itâs good enough for now. Youâll see it soon on ITO !
Hope you will like it !

@Radium
Total awesomeness,
I can see flood of requests to update AB effect on other models -
Hello,
finally, I succeeded to get more realistic canards.
There is no way it would be perfect, because I have so much limitations.
I tried my best to offer you something nice, and I think itâs rather good.
I will try to improve some stuff, but itâs really hard because itâs a matter of comprises. I already tried a lot of solutions to get something smoother, and this is the best I could have got as of today.
Hope you will like it !
