AMCI After Uninstalling TacView
-
I need help after installing TacView. I installed TacView and could not view acmi files in 3D mode… only could view flights in TacView. All my flight files were compressed in the user/acmi file by Tacview and could no longer be viewed in 3D. (I must have selected something during the Tacview install process that changed my 3D acmi viewer functionality).
I uninstalled TacView and the flight files are still “date/time.zip.acmi” that the acmi viewer will not run. Do I have to uninstall 4.36 with updates and reinstall 4.36 to recover full functionality of the 3D acmi viewer? -
That’s to be expected…
BMS will not read internally the new format.
Tacview has so many advantages (even for free) that we will disable the internal viewer at some point … -

This I’d like to know as well.

Ok, thanks. I thought we could use TacView and acmi viewer. TacView documentation says TacView uses flight data but it was not clear that TacView superseded BMS conversion of “.flt” to “.vhs” and compressed the “.vhs” file into a date/time.zip.acmi file inside the user/acmi folder replacing the acmi file created/used by 4.36. TacView certainly has some advantages over the BMS viewer, but I missed the visual details BMS achieved in the acmi viewer of a mission. I would vote to keep acmi viewer and encourage TacView to use but not replace BMS acmi files. We should be able to save TacView formated files in a folder other than user/acmi folder. Just a suggestion. Thanks again for response and a great BMS 4.36 product! -
the falcon internal viewer is probably living its last days to be honest…

Got it … user.cfg change works fine. -
@Tiger78
The default is acmi file. The old, vhs file, need to add the line in Falcon BMS.cfg, g_bTacviewAcmi 2 .
