Basic Install

@Atlas I agree, trying to be as helpful and patient as possible! Some good news for newbies, though i’m not sure when Max Waldorf will make it generally available, but I just tested an all-in-one BMS Installer that not only installs BMS (4.36.0) from a single exe but it also automatically finds the latest update (4.36.3) and installs all you need to get there. Grabs 4.36.1/4.36.2/4.36.3 and installs them in order with very little interdiction necessary. Think this will make a new guys life a LOT easier!

@Atlas looks like the installation nightmare is over for newbies! https://wiki.falcon-bms.com/start-with-falcon-bms/install-update

@Hawkeye55 - no more “muddling”, all you need to do is download the new installer using Bitorret (or similar), Extract the .exe file somewhere (anywhere), and run it. It will install BMS AND all 3 updates, just let it do it’s thing…

This is what I get when I try to open the zip file…
-
OMG…I think I did something correct! This is what I have now…
-
and when I click on the NSISBIN file I get this…

@Hawkeye55 - Where did you read/hear/see it say to try and run a file with .nsisbin extension? It is merely a support file, ignore it, run the setup.exe file!
Another help would be to show the extensions in Windows File Explorer, which is easy to fix. Click on the “View” button (on the toolbar), pull down menu, clik “Show”, then check off what you see in this picture. Now you should see the “exe” on the end of the Setup file…

And so you didn’t click on the other file instead to see if that one would work?

@Atlas - so close yet so far…

I am speechless by so much disregard for the work I put in explaining things…
You have a whole WIKI on this matter…I can’t help you more!

I like the word “Flummoxed” for situations like this…
-
@Icer @MaxWaldorf I think “RTFM” can be used in this situation.

Yes, i’ve spent countless hours over the years reading/learning and I still know (practically) nothing. I’m not sure how anyone could learn this sim without having some computer knowledge. Even using Alt Launcher requires a bit of understanding, and that’s the next step. He needs a US buddy that has a ton of patience and can take the time to walk him through all this…

I am sorry to bother all of you with my ineptitude. I will try another sim. Thanks again for all the help.

Your welcome.

@Hawkeye55 Dude just click on the .exe file in the pic you showed.

@Icer Guess he wasn’t really interested in playing Falcon then.
