Wingmen asking me if he can engaged on targets..
-
Given the lack awacs merge call and having to manually ask for bogey dope/picture often to increase my SA i figured having a rough estimate of the range of the enemy when wingmen ask for my permission would atleast fill in some gaps with the missing merge calls and help gain more SA.
does anyone know what range the enemy is roughly around when ur wingmen (ai) starts to ask u if he can engage air threats?

@hellsguard Im not sure at all, but they ask for permission about 40nm away.

@hellsguard , In the manual BMS-Training.pdf section 18.4.2 Managing the AI wingman says:
“When the wingman asks you for “permission to engage”, you will have to respond to that call. Lack of response on your part will be taken as implied permission after a while. So, if you do not respond, your AI wingman will engage.
If the contact is too far away, select ‘Weapons Hold’ from the Wingman menu to tell your wingman to wait. Get ready to use that one often.”In section 18.4.3 The CAP page 236: " Learn from your mistakes and extend that commit criteria to bullseye + 40 Nm."
Therefore, I think it should probably be + / - 40 nm or depending on the posture and hostile ASPECT of the enemy aircraft.

@hellsguard and what is important, wingmen need to know about threat. Even the enemy is clever bastard, so you have to be carefull about ambush. J20 is almost invisible for your wingmen, low flying F4s/F5s is very dangerous, batallions between mountains too…

If the feelings are strong, a wingman should always be given permission to get engaged.

It would be helpful if the AI included the bullseye of the threat with their permission request. You know, like we do in MP.
