Highway airstrips / Forward Arming and Refueling Points for Harriers and others ...
-
Is it possible to create highway airstrips/ land on roads or create forward arming and refueling points for harriers in addition to the normal airports on the maps? It might add a lot of challenge to the game both at the pilot level and the campaign command level.
Soviet aircraft are built tough for dirty airstrips and a big part of the cold war strategy for both sides was being able to rearm and refuel away from home once the main airfields had been attacked.
It would add something if it were possible to put these points onto the maps at different highway locations without them showing up on a multiplayer map as an airbase. It would also be cool to be able to move them every few hours and to command and supply the farp ground units. There are some good articles about this to help develop it into more of a mod that could be used strategically just search for forward arming and refueling points for fighter aircraft.

an interesting topic on that. I witnessed the mig-21 and mig-23 land on highways in my country as a way of making improvised take-off points, and very narrow roads.
In our wing, when I scramble many times I take off from the taxiway resembling those conditions and land on it, the guys ask me and condemn me for that act and I tell them, it is for preparation and in fact many times when I am impacted by AAA Or by manpad, I can save the plane on small roads and cities and thus save the flight hours of the wing.
i cant put PHOTOS imgur ist dead

That was quite common in WP countries, here in Poland still you can find some roads that suddenly widens to provide landing capability for fighters. Same tactics seemed to save Ukrainian AF last year. If they didn’t disperse their planes across improvised landing strips , there’d be nothing left for them to fly.

Posted a pic of the map of CET with its airports.
