Stick Unresponsive during takeoff

Highly likely you are in the wrong jet. It’s not obvious to newcomers – the game renders a stock F-16 cockpit by default, for many jets it lacks specialized cockpit art.
There is a physics bug in the simplified flight model, used by many jets – the wheels “stick” to the tarmac. I’ve heard you need 200+ kts to takeoff, and then it’s tricky not to tailstrike.
I’ve also heard of folks selecting Flight Model = Simplified on the setup screen, thinking it would make the game easier… in reality it’s now much harder, because nobody else is doing that, and definitely nobody is testing that and supporting that, and there will be all kinds of bugs and quirks, like this, that only you face.
(note to BMS devs: consider removing some options from the setup screens

Have you gone into Setup > Controllers tab and moved your HOTAS stick?? You should see the small control stick icon move in relation to your stick moving. And if you can fly around in Instant Action you should be able to control the aircraft (regardless of type) in any mission. There’s nothing else that you need to do with clearance to allow you to control the aircraft. Just Make sure you are about 150 Kts before you pitch up.
Also, try another training mission that drops you in in-flight to see if you are able to control the aircraft.

@JollyFE thank you for the pointers. It does appear that all my axis are working correctly in the setup. I did do the landing training mission. I was able to land successfully, got clearance from the tower to taxi and takeoff again and was successful in doing so. Went back to another mission where i start on the ramp/runway and same thing. Unable to get the plane off the ground….really weird. Back to the drawing board tomorrow!

@JRJohnson217 hit [0] (zero key) for external view … sanity-check you’re not in the wrong jet.

Dead right, some of our rookie pilots have selected simplified model and experienced the same problem, I just couldn’t remember what caused it. Set it to Ace.

This issue has been fixed in 4.37.2
However flying simplified when AFM is available is nonsense

@JRJohnson217 Just to make sure, when you’re saying you rotate the stick, do you mean rotate around the vertical axis in order to simulate paddle input in order to steer the jet on the runway? In that case maybe you just haven’t activated nose wheel steering? It’s the bind that says “NWS A/R MSL step” and by default bound to “/” key. You will see a corresponding light in the right hand side bracket indicator lights, right of the HUD.

Assuming 95% probability for this.

@Logic negative. I’m able to taxi just fine using my rudder pedals with the NWS engaged. Referring to when I try to take off on the runway the aircraft doesn’t do anything when I apply back pressure on the stick to climb and the aircraft just rolls off the far end of the runway. It looks like there are a few possible solutions that have been presented and am eager to check them out when I get a chance to play tonight!

Just want to thank everyone for their responses. I don’t know if it was adjusting the skill level or actually select the correct aircraft but I can get airborne!! I’m off to continue learning!

@JRJohnson217 I got the same problem and was scratching my head but will also try these options.

@Mav-jp setting it to ace solved it for me.
