What is the most optimized version?
-
@Nanachi try everything above the latest update for 4.36, they allw have been outstandingly stable and therefore also should provide a good platform to you tweaking the settings for your current setup.
-
@Nanachi hi, what is your configuration?
-
@Seifer It is i7 4790k with integrated intel HD 4600… I am interested in gameplay mechanics the most, not graphics (until I buy new gpu, of course…)

“Above 4.36”, do you mean 4.35, 4.34?.. or I’ve got it right… I tried 4.37 with lowest resolution and graphics settings and it has low fps on my configuration (somethinfg about 25 or less). Playable, but not really smooth, as I wnat to.
Thanks for your answer!

@Nanachi what is your monitor resolution? that will probably be the most determining factor, for integrated gpu performance
Tips: in setup/graphics screen, set resolution to 1920x1080 or similar… then set window mode to “Fullscreen”
at any time you can hit [alt+Enter] to toggle back to “borderless window” mode if you need to … but be advised, it will snap to use your Windows desktop resolution (typically your monitor resolution) … it will also put CPU load on DWM.exe and a little more GPU load … so, tl/dr try to stay in fullscreen-exclusive mode. it’s pretty stable in 4.37 (but buggy in earlier versions)
also while on that screen … minimize antialiasing (set to 1x) … turn off canopy reflections, pilot model and mirrors… minimize grass and trees
then, I recommend following config (put these lines in your ‘falcon bms user.cfg’ file)
set g_bEnvironmentMapping 0 set g_bWaterEnvironmentMapping 0 set g_bEnvMapRenderClouds 0 set g_bEnvMapRenderFocusObject 0 set g_bShadowMapping 0 set g_bShadowOnSmoke 0 set g_bReducePSFires 1 set g_bHdrLighting 0 set g_bHdrLightingStar 0 set g_bUseHeatHazeShader 0 set g_bShowFarRain 0 set g_bShowRainDrops 0 set g_bShowRainRings 0

Grateful for these recommendations, some of the guys on the wing would be good for you since some have Falcon running on practically scientific calculators and at an average rate of 20 fps sometimes it drops them to 15, but it is the sacrifice that has to be paid to fly in the best and most complete military aviation simulator.
greetings.

Thank you!
This config made my FPS from 20 up to 40-50 and more!
\ intel I7 4790K
\ intel HD 4600
\ Resolution 1204x768
\ with all minimum graphics -
I would also recommend to check texture folders (particulary MiscTex and KoreaObj folders) - sort it by filesize and rescale down these few 4096px textures to something smaller (1024 px or so). It used to help me a lot with FPS when played with integrated card…

@Lukas yeah there is an option in the old Config.exe tool to “use low-res clouds” … it’s one of the few things that’s not a cfg file entry – it replaces the cloud textures with lower-res alternatives.
I believe it doesn’t apply to some of the newer cloud-types and weather effects, so maybe of limited value in 4.36+ generation. I never measured the impact or looked at it closely. But some of those cloud textures are multi-megabyte dds files.

@airtex2019
Clouds seems to be in Weather folder (somewhere inside Terrdata - Korea folder) but they are rather 1024 and 2048px.
BTW with integrated graphic there is bottleneck with shared memory IMO, but these Intel card are quite powerfull “enough” in other aspects (also doubt about explosions/many opacity maps and various water shaders)…so I would recommend 512 textures (perhaps sometimes 1024) to avoid stutters to have silky smooth flight (we r talking BMS).
But be carefull while rescale, developers did good job for good GPU users, some textures are stitched into bigger canvas (more eficient with good GPU)…so check what is posible especialy with pit textures (to be clear and readable)…
