[F4RADAR] Lightweight standalone radar application
-
Tumbler,
we love your application and we use it much!
Another couple things if possible,-
we would love to be able to see the IFF code on the tracks together with all the other info,
-
it would be very helpful to be able to change colors on each track, after the team color set by options
and a notice, after a while, for some reason the scope goes totally empty for some seconds or minute and then goes back full picture again. If this happens to all users, then it would be nice if you could have a look there, to fix that perhaps.
Many thanks and you have our great respect for this work!

After listening to BibleClinger’s excellent podcast on GCI, I decided to have a look at one of the F4RADAR quirks he mentioned: multi threading. I think I caught most races, but if you notice weird behaviour, please let me know.
Check out the podcast here: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/53-the-tactical-frequency-113751765/episode/s1e7-awacs-and-gci-118967941
- version 0.45 changes (01.08.2023)
- Multi threading
we use your program a lot in our wing.
and we made this request a while ago so we wanted to do it again.
Could you somehow make your app create a server and be able to connect remotely via a web browser from another location to give our wing pilots who don’t have a PC the ability to participate in wing operations as GCI.

@VIPER-0 I saw your request but that will be something for the long term
-
Bibleclinger noticed some issues (thanks for ckecking!) and these should be fixed. If anything else shows up, do let me know.
- version 0.46 changes (03.08.2023)
- Fix mode switching in multiplayer
- Fix deagg velocities not shown

I was meaning to say have that information displayed above the contact in order that it should be said in the ACC standards.
Would it be possible to add the type of SAM site to the center of the threat circle?
I thought years back the solid dots means it is actively emitting and the hollow dot just means that it has been reveled.
Thanks for the reply!

Tried that a long time ago, but couldn’t get it to work

You mean the dots? that should be doable

Yeah, still puzzled how that happens. sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Tried various fixes but couldn’t really resolve it.

Sorry, I read it three times, but I’m not sure I understand it

I’ll have a look

- version 0.47 changes (03.08.2023)
- Added dedicated naval shape
- Added the option to retry version checking
- Fix crash on certain jpg formats
- Fix BRAA/BE tool tip not begin shown

By saying tracks I am referring to the aircraft symbol on the F4RADAR, along with all it’s data and history dots.
According IFF, if the codes where available in the shared memory, would it be easier for you to bring them up?
Oh, and one more,
can we have the bullseye indication being shown continuesly close to the cursor? Many thanks!

it already is

Hi Tumbler, is there going to be an updated F4radar for U3?
-
+1 please dear Tumbler!
After every update it’s time to do our A2G proficiency before F4RADAR is updated lol.
-
- version 0.48 changes (04.11.2023)
- Updated for BMS 4.37.3
- version 0.48 changes (04.11.2023)
-
As always thx for the support continue , our VFS don’t update BMS until F4RADAR available
-
@chihirobelmo Please tell me how your Squadron normaly use it during a mission ? And what benefit does it give your Squaron? I am asking because my VFS are looking after add ones to do the missions even better, and more realistick…
-
@Killroy Some examples:
-
- version 0.49 changes (28.11.2023)
- Updated for BMS 4.37.3.2
- version 0.49 changes (28.11.2023)

I can’t seem to get F4Radar to work anymore.
Using BMS 4.37.3.2 on KTO and F4R v0.49, neither in 2D (with clock running and slotted in a non-airborne flight) nor in 3D (on the ground) does F4Radar show any airspace info. Bottom-left always reads “BMS Status: off”, no frequency/packages lists are displayed, no bullseye, no radar tracks. -
Dear all, the next update of BMS will see Tacview Real-time implemented. The protocol description is public and can be found here: https://www.tacview.net/documentation/realtime/en/
As such you all can implement an app that can connect to BMS, read the stream and plot the data. This can be a stand alone app or even something web based.
As F4RADAR is a bit of a pain to maintain, I’m hoping the community steps in and will create a next generation open-source GCI-tool.
I will provide an update for the next version of BMS but normally that will be the final version.

Your F4RADAR tool has been wonderful all these years. Our community in the Caribbean thanks you for all that passion and effort that you have given all these years.
a hug from far away.

I would prefer a different tool, e.g. euroscope.
This is a real tool for air traffic controllers but not perfect for fighter controllers.
TACVIEW is still missing (I asked the developer years ago, but nothing happened…)- Display of the cursor coordinates to the bullseye
- Display of the polar coordinates of the cursor relative to the hooked aircraft
- Label deconfliction (manual and automatic)
- several pairing lines between aeroplanes
These things would make the work much easier.
Just ask a real-life controller.
