Yet you also loose: VVI above hud alt… , AIM info in AA mode. etc…
it is what it is.But I expect new hornet avionics along with new model to be awesome…
Cheers

What would be a good reason for disabling the new avionics? Cheers

Well, … at least operational F18.
With new avionics it is kinda half-operational ,… with old you loose mentioned above , but you still have SMS-WPN and … stuff. -

Hi, Jayb. 'Fang is right. The New Hornet is a lot of fun, but it is a WIP. If you fly air-to-air or drop dumb bombs its mission capable. It can be ramp started. In fact, IMHO, it’s further along then the Eagle was at the start of U2. But,the aforementioned issue where you can’t power weapons remains a problem air to ground. In the near-term, if that can be solved then we can derive methods of display management. What I mean by that is that how to manipulate the MFD pages, it’s current behavior is different then before.

Hi, Fang. Also, there is no indication which display is SOI with the new MFD pages. But, this is all part of it’s evolution. I remain utterly grateful we’re seeing this in BMS at all. We’ll get there.

@drtbkj
Mmmm… yeah. I’m in old avionics so SOI indication is ok, typical. As soon I’ve seen your post about WPN not working , went to see myself, yet you were right… so , didn’t bother anymore with new pit.
I’ll wait

@white_fang Hi, 'Fang. While we are going to continue testing, including powering weapons, we’re going to recommend that people put set g_bEnableWIPF18Avionics 0 intheir FalconBMS Uder, cfg. when the OFM Theaters come out(BTW, the OFM-Nevada Installer is being made as we speak).
All, there are some difference in the Hornet pit displays, even when the new avionics are turned off. Here are some workarounds we’ve found…- Mach and G values on HUD are missing- a) enter shift +3 and you get a small display that shows up in you view. That will give you G value
b) If you put the ISIS display on MFDE, you’ll have a mach value. - MFD Displays- The MFD displays spawn in with FCR at the tertiary posit( OSB 11) on MFD2, and SMS at tert. on MFD 1, no matter what you set in the DTE.So, for example, if you put SMS as primary, you get 2 SMS pages. So, set SMS and FCR at the tertiary posits, and set “First Displayed” to Tert.
Your results may differ from mine, as I routinely put the FCR on the right MFD.

Good Day, All.
Today I test the F-18C with new Av’s turned on, carrying Mk82’s and no-powering-needed CBU’s in CCIP mode. The new Av’s work with that, with some limitations . You can’t salvo multiple bombs, for example.
The next test will be with LGB’s -
Good Day, All.
Today’s New Av Test is regarding TWS mode. It does work, sort of. If you hold TMS right it does go to a mode where you can select between tracks.
Also, the radar display itself may have WIP factors. A bandit was right on the nose at same altitude, in MRM mode nothing showed on radar, but TMS up locked it -
I’m still wondering what you are testing here…
There is not much new in the hornet and there is nothing system wise you can change…

Hi, Max. What you say is true, but the jet “behaves” differently, display-wise at least. So, this thread is for those who wish to fly the current Hornet with or without new avionics, so they know what to expect and any possible workarounds. .
For example, The HUD does not display mach and G values when the new avionics are disabled. I did some testing and noticed that the F-35C, with it’s 5Gen Pit, has the values. But, if you put that 5G pit in the Hornet, the values disappear.
