Universal Updater File Update README and Log
OVERVIEW- The Universal Updater brings any BMS 4.37.2 or later BMSOFM Theater’s database to current files.INSTALLATION-1)Extract the Updater.zip
, after time 1:48.
2)left click on “OFM Theater Full”(if present) or to the list of files and folders-copy/paste or drag/drop those files to x/BMS 4.37/data/Add-On OFM Theater, replacing what is there. We recommend you back up the old files, first. You won’t need them after the Update
3)delete the old Text Document from the above location
4)This completes the process if you use the current Launcher. If you use the old launcher, see -
We recommend you take your time and make sure everything gets put in the right place, back up the old folders/files (you won’t need them after correct installation), and as always feel free to ask questions. We’ve not had a single complaint about the UniUps, but want to prevent negative experiences.CHANGELOG…

CHANGELOG
A)Flight models-1)tornpod auto loads. Previously, when you set a loadout that required a TGP, the UI would load the external pod. Now it should load the torn pod. The “tornpod” fixes the TGP masking problem for jets with internal IRST. If you desire to use external pods, you can manually load it
2) Mig-15 landing gear repair
3)A-4 family refinements
4)F-86 added
5)F-35C fm refined to help AI land
B)Weapons- 1)AIM-9X ver.2 - Like the RL v2, the missile has a datalink connection to the jet, allowing LOAL
2) WIP GBU-53 SDB/B- IIR(“53IR”) and Laser guided(“53L”).These weapons can track moving targets The RL Stormbreaker has GPS and a multiseeker, but to model that would require BMS hard code access. Our versions use the Maverick seeker or the seeker from the Skipper missile, respectively. Unfortunately, they don’t have GPS guidance. The regular GBU-53 is retained.
3) Load Outs modded to put the new weapons on the F-18’s and F-35.
c) Preliminary WIP, USS Ford CVN-78 added- This is for you inspection only, in this Updater. It’s not fully functional at this point It will be included in all future released OFM Theaters. However, let us know if you want it in you OFM-Theater-of-choice. We can easily provide you the Theater specific files needed.2.4.1 Hotfix 3/20/24 https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/ybne7pze4dg7onp/OFM_Universal_Updater_hotfix_2.4.1.7z/file

@drtbkj hi Airwolf
still waiting for new F-22 Flight model hotfix since it’s almost impossible to land the raptor…
any news? i can help in hotfix but there is no guide or manual for it so i have no idea how to start creating a hotfix for flight model… -

any news? i can help in hotfix but there is no guide or manual for it so i have no idea how to start creating a hotfix for flight model…Hi, F. What particular/specific problem are you having with the Raptor? Is this in a particular OFM Theater. I assume you have 2.4 installed.
Update: I’ll be afk for a few days, so I made a quick TE in Nevada 2.4 with the Raptor at a short field, and did 3 TO/landings. I didn’t notice any bugs, but did notice some traits
- The jet is so strong it is easy to overspeed the gear on TO
- It does not have carrier strength landing gear, so you have to baby it in(especially on a short field). A long shallow approach at about 180Kt with a VV of approx. -500-600 fpm seemed to work best.
- The jet has Viper-like autoflaps, and I’ve noticed landing issues in past tests of the F-18 with type9 ac( in dat file) and HasNASA 2 (in afm) turned off. In fact ,you made me curious . So, I turned type ac from 2 to 9 in f-22.dat and HASNASA from 0 to 2 in f-22.dat_afm. It made big changes in TO/landing. It now has manual flaps and take-off trim . It now self-rotates , and takes off at approx. 15kt less speed. Landing is a big change, much gentler and controllable. I could also land at less speed.
I did not do full flight testing, just in the pattern, but didn’t see any glaring changes in general flight performance in that area.
Why don’t you give it a try, and let us know what you think?
-
@drtbkj Greetings dear airwolf
sure i give it a try
by the way unfortunately i didn’t test the new OFM 2.4 I’m going for an update right now.
thanks alot. -
@drtbkj
i tried f-22 in ofm nordic theater 2.4 and did all the modifications in ac.dat file and has nasa model you wrote for me.
but still can’t even taxi the aircraft easily…
landing is impossible
aircraft will start Oscillating on the ground when i taxi and as soon as aircraft touch down on the runway it starts to spin on the runway
i even tried kiss landing…
it’s impossible to land the f22 with this Oscillation issue…
@Scorpion82 mentioned months ago that this issue is related to non advanced flight model of f-22 and this aircraft needs creation of afm file.
I’m ready to help for that but don’t know how to start because there isn’t any guide or manual available for it… -

I’m ready to help for that but don’t know how to start because there isn’t any guide or manual available for it…I have resolved such issues through learning by doing, through trial and error and by copycating to develop an understanding. I’m not sure what the latest state of the F-22 FM in the current OFM database is. Last time there was a bunched together non-optimised AFM for the F-22. You can check out the presence of the normal F-22.dat file in the sim\acdata folder of your target theater. If there is a corresponding F-22_afm.dat then it’s AFM already, if not it’s OFM. Developing a proper flight model requires data and a lot of work, a quick model could be bunched together more easily. But that’s hardly optimised/overly realistic. Nevertheless it may not be less realistic than what is currently present and addresses the OFM related take-off/landing issues, albeit Mav-jp said that he has finally found the bug in the code. So it might become available with U4.

We’ve made a more comprehensive fix for the F-22, and it will be released as a Hotfix in a few days
-
Good Day, All.
The Universal Updater 2.4.1, a HOTFIX for UU 2.4, is available. The links to 2.4 and 2.4.1 are in the first post. Please note that UU2.4 has to be installed for 2.4.1 to work.
@farazparsa , we spent 2 days testing the F-22, and we think you will like the results.
We also did a lot of testing with the F-18E. In testing we found it could flat spin in certain regimes. That led to a refinement of the flight model. The Echo was our test bed, but in the future what we learned could be useful in other Hornet/Super Hornet variants. -
-
@drtbkj thank you Airwolf️
-
@farazparsa Our pleasure. We did a lot of landings in testing, including short field approaches.
We noticed some traits, see if you concur…- The Raptor has a lot of power, so you had to be careful to get gear up quickly so as not to overspeed.
- As I’m a Navy Puke at first I was slamming it in like a Hornet. Guess what, the Raptor doesn’t have Hornet landing gear. So, an approach at <= 500 fpm down worked very well for me. It became very easy to land it. Just aim for your touch down point and do a nice flat approach.
- The wheel brakes are not super-strong, and she’s a big girl. But ,it does aerobrake nicely. I was holding about 20degrees of alpha during aero. You could probably do more, but use care. The mains are not real tall, and tail strikes are possible. For me, it was better to land slow (approx. 130kt if fuel is low) rather then to come in hot and rely on the brakes to stop.
Let us know what you think. Input from people who fly a jet a lot is very useful to us.
-
Good Day, All. Today’s update contains questions for you, seeking the Group’s input. Plus, it’s been awhile since we have discussed the OFM “philosophy”.
In the OFM Theaters we try to be as realistic as possible, but we do like to give you options. We don’t do things that are impossible (like 20 JSOW on a jet for example ). But. we do like share things that *could * be done, and leave it to you to decide if you want to use it.
We understand that some people are very devoted to making BMS 100% “only as it happened” . I know of one long-time BMS member who won’t even try the BMS Hornet since it uses Viper avionics(at least at present) . We respect such views, but again, we want to give options.
For example, conformal fuel tanks. The US Navy decided not to use them on the Block III Rhino(though they were a RL option) , and of course it never pursued it on the Legacy. And, the USAF doesn’t put CFT’s on their Vipers, but others do. However, we have the capability to build that fuel capacity in the OFM Theater modeling. Please note there is a WIP aspect to that as they would not be visually modeled. Maybe in the future a good skin-maker would join the party, but…
So, the specific question is, do you want us to put that in the database? In 2D loadout you would have the option to remove that 3K of fuel in the F-18, and whatever the Viper CFT capacity is.
The general questions are…- Is there anything in particular you would like to see included, in any jet?
- OTOH, is there anything you would NOT like to see?
Your input is always welcome.
Finally, for you to test the concept, here is an option for you to explore “Project AWAS”. AWAS is an acronym buddies gave me, and means Airwolf’s Wild Ass…Stuff.
The dats go in x/4.37/data/your OFM Theater/Sim, and of course you can back up the stockers first

The other go into x/4.37/data/your OFM Theater/Terrdata/Object, and of course you can back up the stockers first

@drtbkj Greetings
got multiple ctds playing xplanes campaign…
here is the link to crash log…
nordic crash log
it says airframe class bla bla don’t know what it means…
but it’s first time I’m experiencing ctds in nordic theater… -
I have had crashes in the X-Plane camp and Vietnam camp.
-
@Jumpstart5179 yes me too
-
Is this by chance the F-35A? Also, is UU 2.4 and 2.41 installed
-
@drtbkj Yes UU2.4 is installled.

Hi, And the 2.4.1 hotfix? Also, if the jet in question is the F-35A Nordic, that has been an issue here and there. The F-35C doesn’t seem to have whatever the mysterious bug is.
-
@drtbkj I just loaded the hotfix last night and haven’t tested yet.
