Cougar Startup

@jcook
I have emulation “ON” and of course “APPLY” when I’m done.
Have you tried that yet? -
Try this:
Add the following to the .tmj file below the Rem statements.
USE HWSTARTUP (EMULATION_ON, AXIS_MODE_USER, CALIBRATION_MANUAL)

@greatcouloir
Where is that line added? -
@jcook If you’re using BMS 3.73, you don’t need the Cougar Control Panel (CCP) anymore. The Launcher lets you program all the buttons and rotary dials on your Cougar HOTAS.

@jcook I’m using a Cougar joystick board paired with an FCC mod and never had to go into that setup. It was a bit off to the right and down when I first connected and I just zero’ed it out by calibrating in Windows.

@Atlas
I don’t use the CCP program to program an buttons or axis. I use the BMS Launcher for that.When I originally calibrated the FCC3 - you have to use it too see the raw x/y values and then make an adjustment on the PCB to get it in the correct numeric range.
If I don’t first go into CCP
- Manual calibration
- Click Apply
Here is what happens - (its difficult to describe)
The fine-tuning of flying with finger-tip pressure is gone and you have apply A LOT of pressure to get even a little roll or bank out of the aircraft.With other Cougar sticks I didn’t have to run CCP every time - so I am wondering what step I am missing here.

@jcook are you referring to adjusting those screws under the unit? I thought I’d need to do that too but at the moment, like I said, I just calibrated in Windows. It does feel like it’s not as precise as my FSSB but the FCC is mounted to my replica cockpit and I have issues with the side console/side walls having some play whereas my FSSB was in my old simpit and the console mount setup for that was rock solid, so I think this is more of a mounting issue rather than a problem with the units themselves.
However, this imprecision now means I can’t quite fix PIOs as quickly and I’m not as sharp with my inputs, but I can still roll/bank with no issues. In fact, since my seat does not have the knee guards, I sometimes accidentally push the joystick (or my hand when it’s on the joystick) with my knee/thigh.

@Atlas
Can you reinforce the side structure under the right aux console? -
@jcook
That is on my to-do list -
Mine looks like this,
