Engine fire

@Micro_440th I don’t get it: does this mean in U4 tests are no longer optional ? I think there is value in knowing the test has no effect on the sim. Personally, I always skip them and feel safe as the manual tells me I can do it. If there is no longer any note in the doc, by default everything becomes “mandatory”

Well, I’m a nerdy kinda guy, I don’t skip anything on my checklist, if it’s eye candy or not. Good for muscle memory as I’m sure that one day, everything is working correctly. Also teach my pilots in my virtual unit the same thing, don’t skip anything.
@dumba, you mentioned that this occurred about one hour into your flight. I’m just speculating here, but did you apply the anti-ice switch to norm? After 4.37 was implemented in my unit, a pilot that did a new version conversion flight and forgot to switch this button to norm and at high altitude, things went from bad to worse in a very short time.

@NIL I most definitely did NOT touch anti-ice; it was set as whatever it is by default. What’s the default position, AUTO? Any case, hadn’t noticed ICE warning.
@Micro_440th so was that a definitive YES, skipped tests cause failures? Sorry for repeating myself, reading your reply again I am still slightly unsure. TIA!

No, skip this test doesnt causes a failure.

@Micro_440th I meant the other tests, not marked with ‘eye candy’. Apologies for taking up your time, and thanks for quick replies!

All good mate.
Yes, if you skip certain tests, you get a failure.
To be clear here: I recommend executing all tests and procedures via manuals/CL’s. Shortcuts are not recommended but possible. -
did you accidentally hit the random error key combo (alt+c : r) perchance?
Or small arms fire? did you have an AVTR recording?

Clear as day now!

There’s a non zero chance of course, but I think not. It IS dangerously close to alt+c: f, though, so yeah, something to keep an eye out for. Good catch!

No ground fire, training TE with no enemies.
But since I skipped some tests which can cause in flight failuers, as @Micro_440th explained just above, I guess my question is cleared up!

Heyo!
So, in two out of last four flights, I ended up with engine fire after some time in the air (maybe even an hour into the flight, definitely took a while), bl. 30 and bl. 52.
…
If not, what else should I look into?Cheers!
Over-speed (beyond 800KIAS) ?

@Dee-Jay Hmmm I can’t rule that out completely, there was some low level zooming about, but I think it’s unlikely with a centerline tank and with not really going for it, just doing approaches mostly.
It’s ACMI on every time now, though, so we’ll see
