Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37
-
@linknet ok, sounds likely to be that. Thanks.

@linknet
First of all, thank you for this fantastic work.
Unfortunately I have had a problem since version 4.37-06.
In the ECM panel, buttons 1 to 5 are shown as always pressed and I get no visual feedback on the status of the frequency bands or the BIT. It makes no difference whether
RAMP START or HOT START.The callbacks work perfectly, everything is fine in the 3D pit.
Many thanks for your support.
P.S. I hope I didn’t miss the solution in this thread.

After an initial investigation the ECM information is still available in BMSFlightData but for some reason it’s missing in Helios. The profile hasn’t changed in this area so perhaps it’s a change in Helios.
Edit: The ECM Panel works fine in Helios Version 1.6.6020.0 but not in the latest version.
Edit: The fix for this will be in the next Helios release.

It’s very easy to notice on the new IFF intercept TE, right from the start of the mission, the two F/R needles mismatch with each other. In 3D it’s about 2/3, while in Helios it’s to the full limit.
When you say that the two needles mismatch with each other I’m not quite sure how to interpret that. The F/R and A/L needles aren’t supposed to match each other only to show the front and rear fuel quantities which aren’t necessarily the same.
Or are you saying that the F/R needle in the Sim doesn’t match the F/R needle in Helios. Easy way to check if the needles are correct is to open the CPD Panel and select the Fuel page. The position of the needles should compare with the readings for AL and FR which are read directly from shared memory.
I have also seen the fwd and rear needles between the 3d gauge and halos extracted guage display show some discrepancy helios reading a bit higher

If you’re concerned about that then the way to check it out is to compare the shared memory readings with the 3D gauge and the Helios gauge as shown in the previous post by @Wheelchock on the 7th December 2023.
I think you’ll find that the discrepancy lies in the 3D gauge and not in the Helios gauge.

Anyone here run Helios in the DCS F-16C_50 module also? I have the MFD’s working perfectly but gauges are all dead. I watched a (2 year old, and on the F-18) YT video on setting up bindings for each gauge, followed it the best I could, and they are still all non-functional. If anyone could give me some hints or point me in the right direction it would be great. I have attached a screenshot of my settings for the AoA gauge, biggest question is what to do with the “Properties” window that populates when you click on the Binding action line, if anything. The video does not touch it…
Funny that for BMS I just drop the gauges in place, no Bindings involved, and they just WORK!
-
@Icer yeah I’ve tried recently and it seems the F-16 driver isn’t working for DCS.
-
@Wheelchock well that would explain it! Well, now it’s like most things in DCS!
I ended up creating a custom .lua 3-monitor setup and just exporting the DCS MFDs to my 8x6 monitors, done with if for now…

Just getting back to BMS and modified an older profile to the latest ver. of Helios and then grabbed the CPD from Ice’s “CPD Only” profile and cut/pasted it in. I added the files in his CPD keyfile to the auto-key as indicated, but (this has likely been mentioned before) did get a singular “warning” in the Interface tab (it functioned fine) about a missing reference to “OTWMouseButtonsIn3dEnable” so I grabbed this line from Ice’s full auto-key and added it to my BMS auto-key, no more errors…
"OTWMouseButtonsIn3dEnable -1 0 0x32 5 0 0 1 “CKPIT: Enable Mouse Btns in 3D”
All works perfectly, nice to have the CPD map back showing waypoints and all the other data…
-
@Icer That callback shouldn’t have existed in the “CPD Only” profile so I’ve removed it for future versions.

FIrst of all congratulations for the amazing work you guys have put into this Helios profile(s). I’ve been working through various tutes on YouTube and steadily building a few profiles that work with my Laptop screen as well as my Samsung tablet. I made a half-assed attempt to run the CPD Only version but got too many errors so put that on the back-burner for now.
I’ve managed to extract gauges & MFDS to my laptop (secondary monitor) and also got the tablet working via SpaceDesk. Recently updated to the latest Helios version and noticed the Map Control for BMS that I am extremely interested in.
Question: Does anyone have a link or document that will explain how to configure this Map Control properly?
I see the screenshots above and its clear that you guys know how to do this but is there a resource I can view to learn how to configure it myself? Thanks in advance.
-
@Kavelenko There isn’t a reference but it’s fairly straightforward. Just add the Falcon interface to your profile and then add the MapControl resizing it as required. That will work as it is but you need to be able to adjust all of the parameters. So using the CPD Only Profile as a guide add buttons to your profile and bind them to each of the various input bindings of the MapControl. That’s all there is to it, no other configuration required.
-
@linknet I’m using the AMPCD push buttons to turn the various input bindings on and off but which turns them on ok but they wont switch off when I try to toggle that button. Do I need to bind something else to each button?
For example the “Set Waypoints Visible” binding.
-
@Kavelenko You need to set the button as toggle and then set Closed and Open bindings.
EDIT - AMPCD won’t work! You need buttons that can be set as toggles.
-
@linknet The AMPCD I found in the F/A-18 Hornet controls section, it may not be suitable for BMS I dont know but there doesn’t appear to be an option to make those push buttons toggle. Which section do I find those buttons you are using?
-
@Kavelenko “Push Buttons” Tactile Square and add the required image or text.
-
@linknet lol of course! D’Oh.
Let me get back to you, if I can get all of the functions working I’ll be happy. Thank you for the tips, appreciate it. This shit is not as easy as it looks!
Right I got everything working except for the Map Scale binding, what type of switch should that be, a rotary? I mapped it to the Mode switch on the AMPCD, seems to work.
Thanks again for the help, that was great!
-
@Kavelenko IF you want the look of the AMPCD then use that as the base and put Push Buttons over the AMPCD buttons, layering then on top. Then you can assign the Push Buttons as @linknet has stated.
-
@Kavelenko I used a hidden rotary switch to actually set the map scale and incremented and decremented that via a pair of visible up/down buttons.
-
@Wheelchock Great minds, thats exactly what I did.
