Air Refulling
-
hello guys,
When I try to refuel I create a task and PAKAG to the tanker. When I’m in the air I can not contact him.
Thank you -
???!!!
You have to give MUCH more explanationsssssss.
Give details on how you are creating your flight(s) … tanker flight …
It is Campaign / TE etc … etc … etc …
-
I’would advise you to create a AWACS Package so you can get info like TACAN chan of the tanker.
-
More information about the mission built:
It’s not in CAMPING, it’s an built in TAKTIKAL. I built PAKAGE to the tanker and made it the second patrol point will fuel there. The plane is KC135 STRONGTANKER. After that I created PAKAGE me. But when I took off the air I could not make contact with the tanker. -
Did you set the Tanker’s task to “Tanker” … and not “FAC” ?
-
Dee-Jay,
The problem was solved. but when i’m airbirn and press Y+1 the Tanker says me “unable”.
thank you! -

Check the Tanker article or the manual. All the procedure is describe. Your problem is because you contact the tanker out of range (+10Nm).
-
It’s possible the tanker is still climbing to patrol height too. In which case wait a bit for the tanker to level off.
-
Tanker have to reach right altitude and area for ready to refuel. Tanker is going to continue say “unable” till set to his cruise altitude. Try to make a triangle with stpt lines for tanker. Check all this intersectipn points for speed and altitude they all have to be same.
-
Thank guys the problem was solved. Thee tanker still not reach to his altetude.
-
-
ahha split throttle on the f-15 you can see he is only using one afterburner to stay in the pocket.

Just wonder if this is done in real life. Say you are on the return leg of your strike and you are so low on fuel. You call in to AWACs or air control to request for Tanker support. An on-station tanker actually flies to your rescue. I know it is not doable in BMS campaign, but just wonder if that’s something done regularly in real life military operations.

Dan Hampton describes in his book Viper Pilot exactly this situation. His wingman towed in a tanker into enemy territory in Iraq to have him refuel. He wouldn’t have made it back without the gas. BTW great read/listen (there is an audio book available). But I doubt its something that is done regulary.
-
that tanker in question IIRC also had a two flight of saudi f-15s as an escort, so it was relatively safe moving in closer.

Agreed on Viper Pilot,Lukrop.
BTW, In the described tanker incident, the FEBA had also moved quite a bit north into Iraq.
