Glance Backwards Available in VR?
-
This function works when using a monitor; however, in VR it doesn’t. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to VR-enable Glance Backwards?
Thanks in advance,

@dawgboy you turn your head around, I assume.

@dawgboy I don’t think it works with traditional head-tracking (TrackIR) either … does it?
It’s an interesting feature to consider … arguably more useful for TrackIR than VR.

I have a physical cockpit, including the ACESII, except there are no side walls or canopy rim handles that are available, which are on some real jets. If you watch real fighter pilots in a dogfight when a bandit goes by, they sometimes use their left hand/arm to push against the cockpit wall to turn, to gain leverage.
Further, the VR goggles I have (Reverb G2), have a limited FOV, way below the peripheral vision available to the naked eye. This further prevents me from seeing what I might if I turn as far as I can with/without a cockpit wall.
Given those two non-real-world limitations, not to mention I’m not as nimble as I was, a VR “glance back” option would come in handy, at least for me. I can imagine others would also find it favorable.
So, I guess the answer to my question is:
- I’m not doing anything wrong, because
- The callback won’t work in VR and can’t be enabled at this time.
@airtex2019 I don’t know…I fly VR almost exclusively. You can see my explanation as to why it would be handy in VR, and even more so than TrackIR, which I used to use. I had a 49" monitor, and I could look to either side after a 45deg turn to each side from center, and I’d be looking behind me. Easy Peasy…in VR, it’s a whole different ballgame…it’s real-life 3D head movements.

Shift + Numpad3 works with or without TrackIR5 on, not sure if that works in VR

That’s why I kept the canopy rails on my cockpit. Also looking at installing the towel handles later on if I feel I need it.With the G2, have you tried VRNeckSaver?

I never had rails. Shower handles might work, tho.
VRNeckSaver? No…I will look now. Thanks for the tip.

Are you running SteamVR version of VRNeckSafer in BMS?

It’s a great bit of kit. Pity the company seems to want to compensate for it by being totally inept at customer service or being able to supply customers with what they ordered.
