BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal

@cosics Hi. It is as intended, at least for now. The F-22 and F-35 C share the same cockpitwingsmodel. Which means that while in external view the jet’s wings are correct, from the pit they look the same.
It’s not a bug, per se, it’s just that nobody has gotten around to making the Raptor wing model. -
Thanks for your reply.
But in version 4.36 we could see the complete f-22a cockpit. This phenomenon seems to exist starting from version 4.37. I expect an improved f-22a cockpit in the next version.
Thank you for always.

I’m not sure if we’re describing the same thing. The F-22 does have the 5 Gen pit, based on the F-22. Also, the external view is accurate. It’s just “sitting in the 'pit looking back at the wing” view that uses the 35 wingmodel

It’s a good day for some carrier landing practice…
And some TE action in Nevada…
Good Day, All. Things have quiet in Mafia Land lately, but all is well. It gives me time to discuss a potential side project with you the BMS Membership.
We have voice channels set up on the OFM Discord, eventually we hope to have a MP server(my ISP provider is blocking me there). But, in the meantime, I’m wondering if there is any interest in voice chatting. I’m mainly ,but not exclusively, thinking of new members(OFM or not) who need help with set up, people with questions about the OFM Theaters, or whatever.
What do you think? -

Please explaine how to get in connect with you in Discord. I did not manage that. I have used Discord against Falcon Online and others a couple of years.

@drtbkj Speaking of carrier landing practice, anybody in OFM have the skills to get LSOBot (thread here too) working again since it’s on GitHub? One of the things I miss from DCS Supercarrier is the landing grades and would probably try more Hornet flights in BMS if it was a thing.
-
@Snake122 ,
LSOBot works fine for me, using the online version. I have no issues with it, and use it whenever I am practicing carrier landings.What problems are you having with LSOBot?
Regards, -
@Tomcattwo good to hear! I’m using the carrier landing TE, it never detects a pass when I load the what I thought was properly formatted ACMI.
-
@Snake122
OK, am not at my PC right now but when I have a chance I will detail what I do here.

Good Day, All.
@Killroy You just sign our to our Discord ( link is in my signature here https://discord.gg/WDFhckSnzv
You just check out the “read me first”, then “complaint to RR” and become an OFM Member. That gives you full access . I was thinking of using our Ready Room channel for one on one chats.
@Snake122 This LandingBot is VERY interesting. @Tomcattwo T2, let me know what if anything we can do to get it working in our OFM Stuff. I can get to the BOT site just fine, and the app looks good. I don’t usually ACMI the landings, so I will be testing today -
Test 1 for the Landing Bot was inconclusive. When I went to load the ACMI I just get “Loading” , even after 15minutes. However, I did an entire takeoff, pattern, and landing for an ACMI of 12k plus. I’m going to test later, just recording the approach itself.
Also, if you have OFM-Nevada , here is a Carrier Qual. TE https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/ilsmibcd51wg5a3/Car_Quals.tac/file
It also has our WIP Ford Class CVN.
Before you launch, check the fuel in Loadout. I test different things in this TE, so fuel carried may be more then in a usual approach
More goodies… Our NATOPS folder includes several docs and images that relate to landing on the Boat https://www.mediafire.com/folder/3451cnrzqi4pv/NATOPS -
@drtbkj @Snake122 ,
OK, here’s the quick and dirty. I’ll lay out more detail and include a tool I found after.1). LSOBot requires Text Telemetry files to run, which can be obtained by converting Falcon .vhs files to .txt.acmi Text Telemetry Files using TacView. Fly your flight, and record your carrier landing using the AVTR in 3D. When your flight is finished, shut down BMS. Your saved file should be in …Falcon BMS 4.37\User\ACMI folder.
- Open the .vhs file in TacView.
Once in Tacview, with the file open, click on “File” (the USB button, Upper left), and click Save As…In the window that opens, select filetype "Tacview Text Telemetry Data *.txt.acmi ", give it a filename and save it in a location of your choosing.
- Open LSOBot Webpage
- Click on Load ACMI and navigate to your .txt.acmi file, and load it, then if there is more than 1 pass, select the pass you want to view.
- You can export the data into a .csv file. I do that and import it into a spreadsheet I use to keep track of all my valid carrier landings (just for fun).
A tool I found can help Falcon BMS create .vhs files much faster. It’s called flt2vhs on github by MRKline. It converts Falcon BMS .flt files to .vhs files almost instantaneously. Use at your own risk. Here’s a link to the flt2vhs files.

Joe, just AVTR the approach. I usually start AVTR when I go wheels down, and leave it running until I am on the deck. You have to load Telemtry Text .txt.acmi file type, not .zip.acmi or .flt filetypes.
Regards,
- Open the .vhs file in TacView.
-
@Tomcattwo BMS records into acmi files directly now unless you epicetly set the option to not to do so and still produce vhs. So the whole converting from vhs to txt.acmi in tacview is not needed
Flt2vhs is integrated into BMS no need to have it as separate programm -
@Tomcattwo Hi, Compadre. Test 2 yielded some strange results. I made an abbreviated test TE(Nevada), here it is along with the ACMI- https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/x3ps93p40elr65d/LSOBot_Test.tac/file
The ACMI was strange, as it had me approach and land from the Boat’s 2 o’clock on Tacview ? ! Idk what that’s about, but I did get the ACMI to load in the Bot. However, I keep get"No Passes Detected". HHHmmm…
I watched the tutorial vid., and to keep the file as small as possible I added AVTR ON to my “Roger Ball” VA call. -
@drtbkj try running with acmi flag in launcher to start recording as soon as you enter 3d and not with the avtr switch. You still can trim the recording in tacview if needed
-
@drtbkj
Joe, I’ll try to run some test traps tonight and see what I get.@oakdesign , is the BMS output in vhs.acmi or .txt.acmi?
Regards, -
@Tomcattwo
Neither nor it’s zip.acmi which is the compresses version of acmi.txt
only if set in config
set g_bTacviewAcmi 0
BMS produses flt and vhs. The only usage for now to do so is the experimental feature for Real Time Telemetry in Tacview which relies on eading flt file. But I think that that will be changed at least in .38 with a more direct interface to tacview -
@oakdesign ok thanks. Since LSOBot will only accept .txt.acmi, you will need to open the .zip.acmi in Tacview and save as .txt acmi.

Regards,no you can just unzip the zip.acmi no need to do that in tacview. As shown in my screen where the zip.acmi was opened in 7z and the acmi.txt open from within the archive

@oakdesign awesome! Thanks!
