Stil not found how to inject lods into the koreaobj.lod file with F4patch so that is why the current F4patch is so large (it backups the origional koreaobj.lod and then overwrites it with the tweaked version)
u tried also the known texman.dll with the F4Patch? but no joy?

u tried also the known texman.dll with the F4Patch? but no joy?
yeah i have that file but i could not find any examples or instructions how to use F4patch in combination with the lod database.
If i could only get my hands on a example or instruction then i could really get it working the way it should -

If i could only get my hands on a example or instruction then i could really get it working the way it shouldu mean something like this?:
F4P_TexMan.dll F4P_TexAdd.dll F4PSkin.dll
This plugin uses the FreeImage image library
BETA? Maybe, maybe not.
Backup your whole falcon4 terrdata folder.
Installation of plugin:
–--------------------------------------------------------------------
Use F4Patch to remove any skin patches you have currently applied.
Use InstallTexMan.exe to extract itself INTO the F4Patch directoy.f4p_TexMan.dll version info:
1.24
TexMan will not dynamically use parents 3700 - 3801.
Compiled with some debuggin info.1.23
Bug in parent.dat parser could cause “#LAST” command to be missed.
Texture Chroma Key color will ALWAYS be Purple (255,0,255).1.22
1.21
Fix a bug that would cause the backed-up texture data to be deleted if another f4p file that patched the same textures was applied (it would still fail to apply)When patches conflict, instead of reporting “Texture already patched”, it will report “Texture [number] already patched by [patchid]” This should help to locate conflicting patches.
1.20
Fix bug in model appending code, more flexible “parent.dat” parser.1.19
Limited distribution - test new feature1.18
I made a minor a change to the FreeImage.lib code, transparent PNGs are appended with the correct colors now (were blended with white).
Also the plugin settings have been reorganized, and I tried to make it more obvious how to change theaters.1.16/1.17
Cleanup of debug code, fixed bug WRT the max texture size setting being ignored, fixed bug reading parent.dat files.1.15
Support for the MiscSkin folder, just drop any “numbered” BMP or PNG (must be valid dimensions & colors) into the F4Patch\MiscSkins folder. Texman will show them in F4Patch under “MiscSkins”.1.14
Merged code for all 3 plugins. Hopefully no new bugs. All plugins were based on the same code originally, but were in differnt files, as bugs were found, I apparently didn’t fix them it all 3 plugins. This will make bugfixes easier.1.13
fix for reading broken data (ie Chaff in SP3).1.12
Now backs up the palette (the actual ARGB) for each texture back up.1.11
Plugin can now append Models.
RemoveAllTextures, replaced with “removeall3dpatches”1.10
The plugin wouldn’t remeber the Textures Max Size.1.9
All plugins now work correctly with regard to creating an “Installation Package” (hopefully)
Theater switching supported - only for TexMan, not f4pSkin or f4p_TexAdd.1.8
When multiple textures in one patch were applied, it was likely (100%) that the last texture would not unapply.1.7
The directory scanner was scanning to many directories deep when creating the “OptionGroup” f4p files.1.6
new - replacement plugins for f4p_TexAdd and f4pSkin. Actually, these are TexMan, with
some wrapper code to be compatible with the f4p files.
removed - no longer complains about old plugins.1.5
Warning if f4p_TexAdd.dll is installed
Link up 3d\ directory structure.1.4
changed - if appending an image that has no transparency data,
and that images palette matches palette #2, then that image
will be considered transparent.fixed - Chroma key value is now set correctly.
1.3
fixed - the TEXDIR= command didn’t always fail when it should,
it could result in patches being partially applied.new - script command.
1.2
Can now read 256 color PNG’s with or without transparency.
Acually, the patch will install 24 bit & 32bit PNGs, but F4 will not use them (AFAIK).Added a progress dialog when KoreaObj.TEX is being rebuilt
a new command, ID= is required when replacing textures.previous changes:
no longer uses FreeImage.DLL - (compiled into f4p_TexMan.dll)
new commands, MAXTEXTUREWIDTH & REMOVEALLTEXTURES
new features - resizing images based on MAXTEXTUREWIDTH.f4p_TEXAdd.dll & f4pSkin.dll version info
–------------------------------------------------------------------
6.4 - Scrapped old code, merged everything into TexMan code, all 3 plugins built off same files6.3 - brought over some fixes from TexMan 1.8, basically both plugins were not uninstalling the last applied texture per f4p, and they were deleteing the tracking data in the plugin.dat file prematurely.
6.2 - I dunno.
6.1 - dunno
6.0 - erm, dunno.To Do:
Get someone to write some real docs.
Support for file formats that are not BMPs & PNGsand this:
Benefits of using TexMan over old plugins
–------------------------------------------------------------------
TexMan does several things the F4Skin & F4_TexAdd plugins don’t:Support for resolutions ABOVE 256x256.
(Today’s (late 2003) 3d cards are typically capable of 2048x2048)Rescaling capability (it ain’t the greatest), textures can be rescaled so
your skins can be used on older systems, or so users can maintain
higher FPS.Support for NON-F4 standard palettes - Textures need only be 256 colors,
let your paint program choose the best palette for your image.
This will result in much improved visuals and less dithering.Support for 256 color PNGs and 256 color Transparent PNGs (not 32bit, search
for pngquant), as well as 256 color BMPsSupport for appending new Models - not originally planned but the framework
was there.Support for Theaters other than Korea. Your single patch can be applied to
any theater.Last resort - “It’s broke and I can’t fix it” - Remove All 3D Patches in one
shot.Command formats
The format is typical of other F4p plugins.
You’ll have a .f4p file, which will conatin something like:
–cut–
[ID]
ID=4E798DC8-46FB-11B2-9C25-00045A534830[Name]
Some patch[DESCRIPTION]
blaa blaa blaa.[PluginInfo]
F4P_TexMan.dll:id=something-noone-else-will-use: <commands>–cut–I’ve found that you can leave the [ID] out, and F4Patch will then add it for
you when you run F4Patch.You can specify multiple commands by seperating them with colons.
The F4P_TexMan.dll commands are:
–--------------------------------------------------------------------
ID= <name>this identifies the patch, be creative here, because this will be used to
track whether or not your patch has been applied. any time you use any
TEX or MODEL commands, you MUST set the ID. Your patch will not be applied
if this is left blank.
*** ID must be unique for EVERY call to F4P_TexMan.dll ***
*** Even if the calls are made from the same F4P file ***TEX=<texture.bmp>,<texture2.bmp>,etc
this command will append the texture(s) specified. the filenames must be
set to the number of the texture they are replacing.TEX(tex#)=<texture.bmp>,<texture2.bmp>,etc
this command will append the texture(s). the first texture in the list
will be placed at tex#, the second at tex#+1 etc.TEXDIR= <texture directory=“”>this command specifies a directory that contains BMPs. the BMP’s must
have the number of the texture they are replacing as the filename.MAXTEXTUREWIDTH= <width>this set the maximum size of Textures. If the user tries to add a texture
larger than this size, then the texture is rescaled.
*** This should not be used in general Texture Patches, it is used
*** in the plugin settings folder.MODEL(ct#,parentindex#)= <parent.dat>The will append models, the ct# is the same number you see in LE, the
parentindex# is which parent in that CT record to change and must be
0 to 6. If the parentindex# is left out, and the plugin will patch index 0.
Most patches should use this version of the MODEL command. The parent.dat
file, is a file generated by LE, it needs minor changes. (See below).
Remeber to specify an ID.MODEL(PARENT parent#)= <parent.dat>In most cases, you should use the other version MODEL command. In this
version of the MODEL command, the parent# is the the number you see listed
in the Parents box in LE. Falcon4 directly references some models by their
Parent# and not through the CT records (like the missle flames). In those
cases you’ll have to use this MODEL command version to have any effect. You
must also specify the ID command before the MODEL command. DO NOT USE AN
“=” BETWEEN PARENT and the parent number!REMOVEALL3DPATCHES
this command will cause TexMan to remove every texture & 3d model it has
added, it will also remove every texture added by the clones TexAdd & Skin
pluginsSCRIPT= <script.txt>TexMan will scan the script file for commands.
Command EXAMPLES
specify textureid as filename:
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch1:tex=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\1280.bmpmultiple textureid as filene
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch2:tex=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\1280.bmp , 3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\1281.bmp
; the spaces next to the comma are optional - only for readabilityspecify textureid in (
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch3:tex(1280)=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\PartA.bmpmultiple with textureid in ()
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch4:tex(1280)=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\Part1.bmp, 3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\Part2.bmp, 3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\Part3.bmp
; secone BMP is 1281, third would be 1282 etc.specify a directory of bmps, all images must have the texture id as the filename.
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch5:texdir=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1
will attach all images in the directory specified -
you must not have NON-BMPs in the same directory or the plugin will fail.and you can combine the above
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch6:tex=3d\aircraft\b1\skins\mikesB1\1280.bmp:texdir=3d\aircraft\ov-10\skins:texdir=3d\skins\aircraft\mig-21\skins\mikes
F4P_TexMen.DLL:id=Mikes Patch7:tex(1280)=a.bmp:tex(1300)=b.bmpremove all patched textures - in case the patches and texture data get out of sync.
F4P_TexMan.Dll:removeall3dpatchesset max texture size
F4P_TexMan.dll:maxtexturewidth=x
where x is 16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 or 2048Append a model
F4P_TexMan.DLL:id=Mikes Patch8:Model(187,0)=3d\aircraft\b-1b\models\mikes\parent.dat
F4P_TexMan.DLL:id=Mikes Patch9:Model(PARENT 1717)=3d\aircraft\b-1b\models\mikes\parent.datIt is recommended that you DO NOT append new models & textures in one f4p file.
Although it IS possible, and will work, it will also prevent others from
providing skins for your new model as your “model & skin” patch will conflict
with the “skin patch”.Format of parent.dat (as from LE), when using the MODEL command, you must set
up a parent.dat file. These files are generated by LE, and only require minor
modification. The changes needed, are that you must specify the new LOD’s
filenames (relative to the parent.dat file), instead of the LOD numbers
(see below). As of 1.20, the plugin is less strict about the parent dat file, entries do
not have to be in any order EXCEPT “#LAST” and the data following “#LAST”.
Some values can even be omitted, and will default to 0.LOD filenames MUST NOT HAVE ANY SPACES IN THEM

When creating new patch files, please follow the following directory structure
for you filesF4Patch\3d is the root directory for new skins and models.
You should categorize you new skins
–---------------------------------
F4Patch\3d\Aircraft{country}{aircraft name & variant}
F4Patch\3d\Surface{country}{vehicle name & variant}
F4Patch\3d\Naval[country]{vessle name}
F4Patch\3d\Structures{country}{structure name}
F4Patch\3d\Cockpit{country}{aircraft name & variant}
F4Patch\3d\Weapons{country}{weapon name & variant}
(see bottom for standard counties)For example, let’s do a US F-15C skin
–-----------------------------------
your f4p file would be:
F4Patch\3d\Aircraft\US\F-15C\Mikes-Crazy-F15.f4pand your texture would be:
F4Patch\3d\Aircraft\US\F-15C\Mikes-Crazy-F15\1114-crazy.bmpIf your appending a new model, please put an asterisk (*) in the name of you
f4p patch (not the filename) and end it with " - 3D Model".For example in your f4p file:
…
[Name]- Somebody’s F-15C Transformer - 3D Model
…
TexMan will build any needed f4p files to link the directory structure - you
are only resoponsible for creating the patch for your skins, and placing them
correctly in the directory structure.Countries to use in {country}

Egypt
Iran
Israel
Korea
Syria

I have tried the original texman.dll and the one modified by Zelegend and neither work.
How did u tried Zelegend’s I just did the process of install to test the basics… and when I replace the original Dll with Zelegent’s one it disappears from the list. Meaning it’s not working at all… I tried to edit the file but I couldn’t find any folder structure inside them as like Falcon or etc only the ones for it’s internal folder structure.
PumpyHead when u say they don’t work u mean u see the plugin in the plugins list in F4Patch u created the files and the commands and the scripts and they don’t work?
could the creator (Mike Rivers) share in which language did he wrote the dll? Probably C ? (please please please…) Also if he has somewhere the code could also help…
As I see it Zelegent’s dll ain’t recognized from F4Patch… thus not working…
Also as I found this

very old stuff and not related to current bms
made a test to inject only the update and exported parent file (test.dat)
not workingi think that if Zelegend changed the DLL he also knows how the injection should work. Maybe a few wise words from him?

Installer? Please?

I am trying to install the complete mod with chest and legs following the readme text but it does not work. Never used LOD editor, i followed the guide step by step but pilot won’t show while in pit. Any piece of advice?
I read some previous posts and everything went fine. Perhaps the txt readme coming with the archive should be updated with the correct procedure, just for newbies like me.
Great work with pilot model!

Installer? Please?
Maybe this one could help:
(only the lodeditor part of the installation.)

I have no idea how to use the LOD editor. It says in the readme “- Run LE and open KoreaObj.dxh (KO.dxh)” I don’t have that file in BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj, I have KoreaObj.HDR but not .dxh.
EDIT: After watching the video above it worked

Hi,
First a big thank to Harpoon and the whole BMS team for their great work.
I have a problem to integrate the mod in the Israel Theater 0.96.
I used your method with the parent number 2 and lod #82 (and i can see that the lod #82 is a cockpit lod) but i have no pilot in israeli plane.
Perhaps there’s an other lod in the IT Data Base for the Israeli plane’s cockpit but i have not found.
Any idea?Regards

Yes, you need different numbers for the IT:
@Echo7:There are different parents and LODS for cockpits of IAF aircraft in IT. If originally you needed to edit parent 2, then the matching parents in IT are 3145 (lod 7387) and 3147 (lod 7389). Edit both of these, and parent 2 for the pilot model to appear in all aircraft.
Just beware that a model change changes the DB and is possibly multiplayer critical. -
Thank’s sorcer3r
This works very well !!!

Hello, since the update 4 addons that is still functional?
The method still the same and that it’s specified by Eagle at the beginning of the post?because I tested it and that method will
1. ! Create a backup of files (not folders) in:
<dir>\ Falcon BMS \ Data \ Terrdata \ objects !
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds<dir>files in \ BMS \ Data \ Terrdata \ objects \ KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor
4. Click on ‘normal’, then '1 'under “Edit”
8. Click on ‘Select LOD’
9. Select LOD no. 82
10. Select Action> Append / replace texture
11. Select 8018.dds and 8019.dds
12. Click on ‘Action’> replace model
13. Choose ‘loaded.lod’ from the archive.
14. When the LE exchange appearence you can close it down.
15. Enjoy your new body! But none of the two non-operated
It is you have a limited block?
Thank you in advance for your answer</dir>

Same issue here. I wanted to give the pilot model a try today and followed the list like Maveric (full model). No luck, no body in Korea. I have Update 4 running and additional Theaters IT, Balkans, Panama, Aegaen. Selected theater is Korea (KTO). This is a screenshot of LOD Editor after I followed the list of steps mentioned above by Maveric (the n/a entries look strange for me):

Having read the entire thread (unlike some people) its occurs to me not for the 1st time that threads like this need cleaning of the dross. To make it a ‘technical’ thread only. Comprising only the latest updated instructions/links and a short Q&A for the repeating problems some have. 30 pages down to 3 or less.
-
Sorry, my crossreading of the 30 pages of this thread was not in-depth enough  The procedure of the video works with loaded.lod, too and now I see the entire body of the pilot. An update of the first post and the readme in the package could indeed be useful.
Thanks for a job well done!
Greetings
Frank

Ok, for anyone still confused by the post-update installation, a step has been left out of the discussion so far. Or, rather, more accurately, a step that you used to have to do is no longer required.
From Harpoons Readme.txt, you skip step 9. (Select LOD no. 82).
So, to put it context of the rest of the install instructions:
1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in:
<dir>\Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in<dir>\BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal’, then ‘1’ under “Edit”
8. Click on ‘Select LOD’
9. Click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box, don’t change any numbers here.
10. Select Action>Append/replace texture
11. Select 8018.dds and 8019.dds
12. Click on ‘Action’>replace model
13. Choose ‘loaded.lod’ from the archive.
14. When the LE changes appearence you can close it down.
15. Enjoy your new body! This is what worked for me, hope this helps.
PS - Still, its curious why we are getting different LOD#'s for parent ‘2’. Copper seems to be getting 7544, wolf123 got 7323, and I’m getting 7318.</dir>
</dir>
I have the “legs only” mod working ok in my Korea theater on all my F-16 Block variants using “Zanders” procedure so i tried installing them into my Israeli theater.
The “legs” are showing up within the Egyption, Jordanian, American, Dutch, Norweigen F-16 cockpits but for some reason they are not working when i select any of the Israeli F-16’s…… any pointers as to what i’m doing wrong.
I’m guessing it’s something to do with the theater LOD database, but to be honest i’m not sure what i’m doing with the LOD editor.
Regards…
