Pilot model fo F-16
-
perhaps, it isn’t possible due to of the BMS structure… but if it possible I think this improuvment should be interesting!
But the fact is that this kneemap (or any other kneemap displayed on your screen in 3D ckpt or on moving map display) is a piece of shit comparing to a printed paper map.
So … instead of spending time coding such crappy kneemap … maybe better print it … and tadaaaa!!! A perfect useful chart, that you can even cover with a plastic cover … and draw/write directly on it if you like … price … ? perhaps 2 to 5$
or … go for an EFB

Manly leg positioning on the last pic (;
-
well… Deejay… I like to spend a word for who have “as me” only a table (with saitek mounted on lateral stuff) and a a monitor ahead…
legs are under the table, and for to see the “tadaaa” print (LOL) we need to exit the table and so… lost the X52 & keyboard control…
I think this is the position of who need such kind of improvement… just because have problem with kneepad printed… and I add a very personal messy table (nothing more I can add over it)
btw… I think we dont have any canche for this improvement Tursiop !

Qawa, my dear friend, if you are on a table it is even easier … just put your map on it.

…
But you guys a searching a reason to justify this “funny” stuff which is everything but practical. How you want to have the enitre map in 3D … or … like we discussed internally (Qawa you certainly remember that) by using the entire screen to display the map using old 2D pit code…
EDIT:
and I add a very personal messy table (nothing more I can add over it

yeah !
it’s time to re-order my table …. or try to build an homepit !!!
(fictional both the solutions)

I cant read 33 pages so someone please tell me if there is an installer for this? LOD Editor gives me a migraine. Cheers.

The onlylegs.LOD file download link is broken for me atm.

Hi,

Proper instructions for U5.
-
Would it not be possible to give the kneeboard multiple 3D “surfaces” where only one is displayed at a time? You could have a key combo / click to go fwd/back between these surfaces, each showing its own DDS, creating multiple “pages”. I know it’s not quick & simple but it could be very useful (if possible).

Proper instructions for U5.
Why is it that when I type in the “2” and click the “normal” button, then the next box that comes up does not have the “edit mode” button above the " LOD editor" box?
Edit… Problem solved. I had an older version of LODEditor. -

Ok, for anyone still confused by the post-update installation, a step has been left out of the discussion so far. Or, rather, more accurately, a step that you used to have to do is no longer required.
From Harpoons Readme.txt, you skip step 9. (Select LOD no. 82).
So, to put it context of the rest of the install instructions:
1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in:
<dir>\Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in<dir>\BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal’, then ‘1’ under “Edit”
8. Click on ‘Select LOD’
9. Click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box, don’t change any numbers here.
10. Select Action>Append/replace texture
11. Select 8018.dds and 8019.dds
12. Click on ‘Action’>replace model
13. Choose ‘loaded.lod’ from the archive.
14. When the LE changes appearence you can close it down.
15. Enjoy your new body!</dir></dir>
I am flying updated to version 6. I have been following this thread and many people have said to use parent1, and parent2, or LOD# 82, or LOD# 81. None of this worked for me. I still had no legs and no changes. At one point I had black legs with black kneeboards. I finally found and followed Zander’s instructions and it worked great. thank you Harpoon and Zander.

Method described by Zander worked for Korea (U5 and U6 did not change that) but not for Israel.
pilot.lod link from Arty is not unzipping with 7z and I tried different methods described here without success for Israel theater.
If someone has a step by step method working for IT using the file BMS Pilot Model located at the first page of this thread, I would really appreciate it. -

pilot.lod is not ziped u use it as is.

There are different parents and LODS for cockpits of IAF aircraft in IT. If originally you needed to edit parent 2, then the matching parents in IT are 3145 (lod 7387) and 3147 (lod 7389). Edit both of these, and parent 2 for the pilot model to appear in all aircraft.
Just beware that a model change changes the DB and is possibly multiplayer critical. It is not working for me for IT with F16D-40I
I went steps by steps as described in the pdf from Arty’s link (after a backup of all involved lod). By default I have lod 82. I loaded instead the pilot.lod with no results, then after restauring lod 82 back, I tried 7318 in vain, then after restauring it, I tried both 3145 and 3147, still without any results. -
