Project Licenses Plates

flyway,
good job!
Something from me:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?homxcbibykp0jecLink update (complete gui)
This is simple tutorial, written quickly. There are other ways to do it but I decided that for amateurs like me, it will be easiest to understand how it works.PS. There’s probably a lot of mistakes but … I’m tired
Thankyou very much.
Million thanks inbound… -

Thank you! Looking forward to reading the guide when I get home from work.

Eghi, this is really amazing! :bowd: understandable all the way

so, I guess this means I would need to send the DB to anyone that I wanted to have the same skin set?
so if we set up a squadron skin and some tail numbers for that squadron, everyone would need to get the same DB for it to work for everyone.
is there a way to get it to use more than 4 numbers? could it be set so that there is a large pool of “tail numbers” to draw from?
or is the only way to get that to work to use different skins with 4 tail numbers each?
-
In Falcon 4.0 FF and maybe in AF we were able add our name and call sign under the canopy and also add our own tailskins. For instance, I am in San Antonio and we have, out here at Lackland, The Lonestar Gunfighters. The tail had “SA” in the middle, the Texas flag across the top and “The Lonestar Gunfighters” on the bottom. The rest of the AC skin was the normal grey F-16. I would love to be able to do that again. I have a file somewhere that has a whole bunch of tailskins for different squadrons. I am not sure if it could help out in any way but if someone wants to check it out, I can send it. It feels so sweet flying a jet with your name and callsign on the side of it with your own squadron tailskin.
-
well, what I would like is to have unique tails, corresponding to the same jets that were in the 524th. means there is a bit of history there.
still have to start this myself… too much procrastinating on my part.

I can make that happen for you!

I can make that happen for you!
You haven’t started yet? :uham:
Would it help any if I sent you the tailskin file? -
I am having some trouble following the tutorial, any help would be appreciated.
in screen two, on page one, I do not see a texture, only wireframe. is this a setting in LE, or a version problem?
using this on a fresh install, so I am fairly sure the problem is user error…
thanks guys.

nobody?

nobody?
I wish I could help you blu, but I am just as confused and still haven’t really received an answer.

It’s not a problem, … in LE when in edit mode the model will be shown as wireframe.
… use the “Fill”, “Eye View” and “Isolate” - buttons.I also suggest you should read the manual for LE at least once,
otherwise you’ll have a hard time completing such a task like Licenses Plates.Cheers,
LS -
okay, I presume this is the manual in the same directory the exe is?
also, I did not mean the edit page - I meant that the texture mapping window shows a flattened out wireframe presumably for mapping - but no texture. is that normal?
the picture in the tutorial does include a texture…
-
You must select node (polygons) in model tree (Blk Select) , then go to Texmap.
-
Would be really cool if this was built into the next release.
Btw Blu3wolf… tried responding to your PM. Inbox is full.
-
thabks for heads up.
I selected the polygons using block select, and went to tex map.
clicking on show/hide texture did nothing…
-
You cannot see texture?
Expand Preferences, select Use DDS Skins.Sorry, but I do not know what’s the problem? Show screen.
-
You will look at which nodes to keep/cut in 3DSMAX by looking at the texmap in LE.
So…
start LE
select your AC from the list on the left (for example CT# 2464 F-16C-52)
click “Normal”Make sure “Edit Mode” is selected above the “LOD Indexes”
click “1”click “Edit LOD” … you should see the model in wireframe
under “View Controls” click “Left” … see the model from left now.Hold “ctrl”- key and draw a selection frame just around the top of the tail.
The “Area Search” window will open. … click on node 3392 (for example)This node is now selected in the node tree.
Now select all nodes in that branch.
To do this, click on “Block”, select node #3388 (on top),
then select node# 3403 (on bottom)With those nodes selected choose “Texture Mapping” from the “Tools” dropdown menu.
… there you are … in screen two, on page one.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,

I can make that happen for you!
Check out this sweet video. Thanks 38ThSkyRangerCougar for the video. I would love to have the Texas flag and Lonestar Gunfighter skin, but I would like to at least get the “SA” tail like the one on the other jets.

not sure what to do now… the textures show up fine now thanks to your advice eghi.
I have completed the tutorial but still all falcon shows is the tail art, not anything else… either I missed a step, or the place I chose for the switch was bad…
gonna have another go tomorrow.
EDIT: handy tool that isolate button. found out what my problem is… turns out that somewhere along the way the units must have been screwed up when importing/exporting with 3DS max. I found the missing panels inside the aircraft and really really tiny…
guess I need to go back and start from my first .blk file. kinda obvious I dont know my way around 3DS at all…
