My Mirage 2000 project
-
I just asked one of my best fiend tonight who is flying 2000D N & -5 … What is the color of AB flame …
Him: "You know … Usualy I’m seated in front of my engine … Can’t really tell you
But more seriously … Blue/orange …"
Me: “Well … That Dosen’t help me much dud! ;)”
-
This is a perfect example on how we focus on details that real pilots don’t. I mean your best friend has for sure been a Wingmen for some time before being a leader, and h am sure he has done countless formation takeoffs or trail departures, and … he can’t really tell you the colour of the flames …which to the guy who never flew is something very hard to understand.
If you as a Mirage or a F-16 pilot what colour the knob for this is, he may bug a bit before answering. That shows you that we try reproduce pictures we have from aviation rather than sensations, which makes sense. And this is exactly why you will always have those who want more graphism stuff etc, because to them flying is all about how it looks or how nice the shadows are.
In a 1hour flight … I remember 4 to 5 min max about the landscape, and only when it actually is breathtaking … but yeah from an artistic point of view its always nice when you have it accurate, but make compromises as long as the flame is not green or pink, lol.
Just my 5 cents.

This means Dassault succeeded to create a new color : blorange.
P.S blue or orange I absolutely don’t mind as I only fly Omanese F-16C B50 in BMS lol I simply wanted to bring some information.

Sure … But he is not trying to develope the most acurate sim ever.
-
Indeed, otherwise, he’d better hide from Dassault… Otherwise… Let you guess guys!
-
I prefer pink AB than not accurate Avionics or HUD… I think developers must spend (IF THEY WANT) some time in the Mirage Avionics!.. Hope one day I see that in Mirage for the BMS,… rather some cool nice looking AB flame!

… first of all … before thinking anything about coding something or not … need documentations and fight manuals. Without … no way to start anything.
-
I don’t prefer anything… I simply suggest time spending on researches to reach the best result.

Do you have some publicly usable data related to the 2000 at M2M ?
-
It depends on what the author needs. If the author needs and wants it, I can offer some documents and data. But I won’t post them here because I feel this will trigger debates around something which is not my property.

I have completed all the squadron decals and sent them to Buzzz for final QA:
By the way, this is the current AB/reheat plume:

She looks great! Except the HGU style helmet I love it!
Cannot see the afterburner btw…
Best regards Chris!

Yes … really great!

SUPER…!!! So sexy!..

Great model!
I wish this baby will get a release package soon so not to wait 2-3 weeks…

And a Greek skin also… to add…
-
Nice job as always Chris… how many squadrons did you skin? Also, just wondering did you mix the two types of registration? E.g squadron number - XX and base number - XX? Or did you do two sets?
__To go back on the Mirage avionics subject, I think we won’t get any serious data on the 2000D, 2000N and 2000-5F before like… 40 years…
So, why not make up what we already have? Make a more conform HUD, make a more conform MFDs or VTLs (Lateral Screens) like it has been already made for the Serval display (right screen on the -5F)? I think that’s the best compromise we can get right now.About the 2000C, I found a public manual here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/53260573/198-Mirage-2000-C-Manuel-Pilote
There is some interesting stuff, it seems. I’m reading it. -
Hi Corsair!
So, why not make up what we already have? Make a more conform HUD, make a more conform MFDs or VTLs …
Three main reasons:
1 - It is extreme low priority (building new cockpit is already a good 1st step)
2 - Worthless and loss of time to do something, then, having to re-do it, and again, and again … each time someone will bring something new about avionic : "This should be like that! That should be like this! “This is not working that way!” … etc … and knowing how it does look do not tell us how does it work.
3 - Nobody wants to fingers into this ATM.We are not working without documented reference.
And IMO, if one day we want to deal with other a/c avionics stuff, it will for the F-18 in priority (since we already have documents)
