Israel Theater Release

Spooky,
Your saved campaign file would be extremely helpful here, can you upload it?Damascus being captured by the IDF and recaptured by the Syrians in a short time is normal during the fighting, after a while (1-2 hours) it calms down - either IDF withdraws or the Syrians withdraw and the IDF keeps troops there to defend it.
AI logic is generally identical to Korea because it is code based, unless it’s something related to the data, and in the theater such AI-affecting data is mostly stock BMS. In the case of RTBing after refueling, if the same happens in Korea it’s probably a BMS general issue. Did you try to fly this specific mission without refueling, to see if indeed it is related to that target? There aren’t any ‘safe’ targets that I’m aware of (we ran the campaign many times in testing and online).
About Akrotiri, which runway was it, 11 or 29? What was the weather? I’m testing MLU takeoff from there right now it seems OK. again your campaign file would be helpful.
I assume you also added a tanker squadron? Which type and where?
BTW Akrotiri is in Cyprus, not Crete
-
i ashamed of my geographic mistake …… thanks for correcting me.
Yes, i can give you my campaign files.
I did not try it without refuelling because of the distance to the target, it would be too short if i end up in a BVR fight, or worst a WVR fight. The runway was the 11, and i think this is a BMS issue rather than a Israel related one. The Tanker was a KC-10, that i placed at Akrotiri too, will upload the files for you ah, the Weather was Sunny.
-
OK, waiting for the files.
I re read what you wrote about the AI taxiing in circles and it could be because the AI missed point data. This can happen in a very low frame rate or because of hiccups, for example when cycling views between far aircraft and the display freezes while the sim loads data (that’s why it’s better to cycle views while paused at first). Did you experience any of these?
-
Can you send me an e-mail adress where i can send those files to ?
No hiccups, and actually this is the smoothest israel theater version i ever flew, before 0.99 i had a lot of lags, all gone, i was impressed, considering the amount of airplanes in reduced airspace, adding explosions to it. But when i switch views, yes there is a delay where you can see the lag happening, thatmay be it then …you think that that lag screws up AI brain for the rest of the flight?

Not for the entire flight but definitely while it’s on the ground. When they miss a taxi / takeoff point because of a stutter they will try to reach it again, sometimes in weird ways. So it’s best to cycle views when you are paused.

copy that

Thanks to all who worked on this. And a happy new year, too!

OK Spooky it seems fine here with your file. I fragged a package of 4 ship NO-MLU to strike the Damascus ammunition depot escorted by a 4 ship 3 minutes behind them, and they all took off from Akrotiri. So it was probably because the AI missed a taxi point.
BTW I noticed you placed too many squadrons at Akrotiri, there shouldn’t be more than 3 squadron per airbase (two is better) to avoid traffic problems.
-
ok sounds good.
Ah, for the squadrons, i always do that, but at any time, the maximum takeoffs that are taking place is 6. I always bring a bunch of squadrons and plan 2 or 3 sorties a day. But yeah, will follow your advice :), thanks again for your time

Thanks for the impressive work guys! seeding the torrent

So I have now flown about a dozen campaign missions as the IADF and it is NOT too easy. 50% of my missions I got shot down by ground and air threats.

Yeah the Syrian air defenses are quite capable early on (BTW they outnumber Israeli air defence 4:1) with mobile SA-8, SA-11 and SA-6 in addition older systems and AAA. The locations of the fixed sams (SA-2, SA-5) are known and they are taken out early but the mobile systems can be a headache for intel and to attack as well. In addition the scrambles work and you can get intercepted.

I would say, you will get intercepted when ever Syria has some plane available. Great job 108vfs´s.

Speaking of SA-11, is there any info on these threats? SA-17 too….They aren’t mentioned in the Falcon Quick Threat guide.
-
tactical reference
-
Tactical Reference info is cut off by the window; cannot read max. engagement height.
-
Not for all sams, I got my information about the SA-11 from the tacref window.
It’s an upgrade to the SA-6, and it can fire more than 1 missile at the time at you. Maximum altitude is 43000 feet.

IIRC, wiki says missle on SA-11 has a low(er) ceiling (15,000-ish??) and SA-17 ceiling is quite high (45,000-ish??).
Edit:
Oops, sorry …. mis-remembering meters and feet … 15,000-ish METERS or ~45,000-ish FEET.

Guys Altitudes r not necessary at all. If u don’t return with dirt (soil) or mud on the fuselage then u r not doing good work or u will be just shoot down by those SA’s.
So set your Low Alt warning to 050 and do it like real man…
