I’d try to manualy unzip the *.exe elsewhere and start the installer from there.
Your actually Temp\6D07…… path looks a little strange to me.Cheers,

LSI tried installing in it my downloads folder and desktop. It starts installing and then stops when that error pops up. I checked that path and there’s nothing there dealing with Terrain editor. It’s really strange. The program -really- wants that .msi file.

Redownload TerrainEditor_v311_setup from Monster’s site and run it again. Most likely it will ask if you want to Modify, Repair or Remove the program. For now choose Remove. Then run TerrainEditor_v311_setup again choosing directory where you want it to reside. It should work.

Confirmed, the *.exe extract a *.msi beside a few other files for install into \Temp\longnumber\
Try what “Polak” said.

Polak. Tried redownloading again. No go. When I look at my installed programs and try to uninstall what is left of the program IT GIVES ME THE SAME ERROR ASKING FOR THAT DAMN MSI FILE.

LSIt doesn’t extract anything. The installer doesn’t get that far before the error.

Hey Jammer,
Are we on the same page? Have you tried to reinstall TE from original TerrainEditor_v311_setup.zip, which was JUST downloaded and not yet manually extracted to any folder or sub folder? (because if so, then IMHO it should not ask for *.msi file). And… this installation of TE is on the computer with Falcon BMS present. Right? You see I have similar problem like you on my laptop. However, there I have no Falcon BMS, but just original Falcon4 and just that (no BMS, or no AF). It gives me all kind of problems which perhaps I have opportunity to solve now, but not before you solve first yours.
Monster, if he is presently around this forum, surely will have some solution to your problem anyway.

Yeah, I already got it, but I don’t know what’s wrong.

I’ve seen this error before with other applications (Navisworks stuff, Autocad) - in these cases it was the antivirus that somehow fubared it. Try disabling it while installing…
-
I had a similar problem, but in my case helped clean the registry…
-
@Jammer: As a temporary solution that I can think right now, I can give you the msi to point to it when the setup asks for it.

Hope that helps…

I tried doing that. Multiple terrain editor registries. Still no joy.

This is unbelievable. Still no joy but I get a new error. I tried pointing to that MSI file. Still wouldn’t take it. I even created the exact same folder name it was asking for in the temp directory. This is what I’m getting now.
-
Monster I had the same thing but I can’t recall how I solved it… IIRC It must have been a corrupted file from extraction… So get Monsters file and try it.

I’m almost sure you got that new error, because if I understood right then
you didn’t got any files extracted to temp/numberfolder at all.And the *. msi as single file will not make it, because there are usally also a few
other files (setup.ins, etc.) extracted. So you have already cleaned your registry, downloaded the installer (*.zip)
again from Monster’s site, then tried to install,
… and it still doesn’t work?Uhmm, one idea would be to start the downloaded originally installer,
and when you get that 1rst error again then don’t close the installer,
but search for “TerrainEditor v3.1.1.msi” on your HDD,
… to find out if the installer has extracted the files elsewhere
for dubios reasons.EDIT: try also to search that “Numberfolder” in registry, and clean it
(with care, … shouldn’t related to other software)Cheers,

Version 3.5.7 Available.
I like this:Wow…:headb:
Thank you Monster!

I would try the solution given here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4648521/the-installed-product-does-not-match-the-installation-sources-error-when-uninsExtract the “TerrainEditor v3.1.1.msi.zip” to e.g. “c:\TerrainEditor v3.1.1.msi”. Then open a command prompt and run:
MsiExec.exe /I "c:\TerrainEditor v3.1.1.msi" REINSTALLMODE=voums REINSTALL=ALL

wow… great feature…

Good job on the update!
My problem still occurs but what I did was installed on my laptop (it installed fine) and then moved the folder to my desktop. I still get the error but I just hit cancel and it opens the program. Thanks for everyone that helped.
