is that a BMS problem or just a theater problem? seems like something that would have to be designed that way in-theater, which is kind of strange. maybe in the future it’ll get fixed because bridges (besides the ones at mapedge, modelling offboard stuff) supplying anything seems really silly.

The Thing with AAA I also know very good… I got shoot down by the first shoot they do in 4 of 10 missions… flying around, at FL250 or above, then warnign lights go on, I am burning and then I check that I was hit by AAA… in AF you where able to surviive 2 or even 3 hits… in BMS the first hit is in the most cases the only you Need to eject

flak, especially with fire cans are dangerous. just fly at angels 30 or go around (though in korea, going around is basically impossible, considering the DPRK has flak with triple coverage over every inch of land they have)
if you are running over triple A battalions, that is, lots of guns + targeting radar, they are deadly yes. if it’s just SA 2 ZPU-2s or whatever, not really. they’ll basically never hit you unless with extreme luck or if you’re flying in a straight line directly over them for a minute+
edit: you can also just go NOE, and they won’t be able to hit you at all. that has it’s own dangers though. might be safer than flying below ceiling over a dozen AAA battalions though, as DPRK SHORADs are pretty thin; as far as i know all you really have to worry about is HQ battalions with their shilka/SA13/15/HN-5A squads. of course, you REALLY have to worry about those. but if you plan your ingress well you should be OK.

You got to be worried about more than HQ units; towed artillery, mech and tank battalions also have mobile sams.

also comparatively rare. just steer clear of cities and you should be OK really. i do lots of NOE attacks and have yet to be shot down by MANPADs. really though, i haven’t had problems with flak since i realized it has a ceiling at angels 30. you really should be that high to travel anyway, the only thing that will force you down is SA-10s and really those will force you down to 200FT anyway so flak shouldn’t be an issue.

I tried during a full campaign to hit as much factories as I could, however it doesn’t stop the sudden increased number of enemy airplane or ground forces.
Is it bugged or ? -
they have a large supply and get resupplied and the PRC and CIS both often join in which is fine with me as I get more targets

hitting factories has an impact, but you have to do alot of damage to alot of factories; they have an incredible number of them, so it’s a drop in the bucket to knock out one or two.
if you want to reduce the enemy presence, it’s probably better to just do sweeps or OCA (direct anti-fighter) or CAS (direct anti-ground)
if you do lots of either you will see a noticeable weakening of that particular element’s strength.

I usually focus on interdiction and OCA. Regarding strikes, I take out a few key bridges and the refineries. I figure no gas, no mobility on land or in the air.

I did destroyed almost 50% of war production asset, so maybe I should concentrate on fuel then.
About OCA, the problem is there is no plane on the ground to destroy, and the runway get repaired in a few hours -
When you take out the runways you have to destroy all three segments then it should take a lot longer.

Yes. The strategic planning in the campaign….for both sides…is terrible. Neither side seems to have any clear strategic objectives or phases to their effort. The DPRK offensive plan…especially the AIR EFFORT…isn’t…and the BLUE force defensive plan…isn’t either. Both sides seem to just put their air assets up in a bunch of suicide missions with no potential to gain the initiative from them…even if the missions are successful. BLUE Force goes offensive way too soon and against pathetic targets. If we are going to go offensive…OK…Does anyone at HQ have the intent at taking out the Mig29 bases…like now…so they cannot launch them against us…at least for a while…instead of the 12 plane strike packages against highway strips. A10s and F5’s should never even be scheduled for A-A missions. There is already too much CAS work for them to do. Does the DPRK have any intent at sending overwhelming attacks against BLUE FORCE air bases to prevent BLUE FORCE from even thinking about…going north…at least for the first 12 to 24 hours? When it comes to the load outs…are we going to keep sending our pilots up with pocket knives when we have Excalibur’s to arm them with. I practically have to rearm almost every plane in the ATO…
Oh well In any case…it still is fun…from a gaming perspective… to go up and push all my abilities and my Vipers to the limits on a suicide mission…with my fellow pilots…But realistically…or even from a Simulation perspective…Our own AI HQ should probably be the first target taken out so that we fighter pilots can fight the fight to win it with our best stuff…without so much pointless loss.

Thanks Cik … I’ve been “playing” falcon since Falcon4 days and never thought to adjust packs. No more suicide missions! It’s like a whole new sim!!

You can manage the ATO yourself with far better results. Leaving it up to the AI will make a lot of dumb shit happen.
I guess these words have been uttered many times… by real life pilots in real life conflicts ever since manned flight began!

It always seems to me, that near the end of a campaign, the campaign manager sort of looses control of exactly what needs to be done to win it. During those last hours, it makes good sense to take over. You know that you need to have your forces capture and hold at least two specific cities in enemy territory. There isn’t too much good about flights that the campaign manager is scheduling far away from those objectives. So, try cancelling all of your assetts that are not supporting your primary objective of winning. Clear the paths needed for your ground troops to move into those areas. Shedule many BAI missions to cut off enemy activites in the areas you need. If there are still airborn threats schedule more CAPs over the area. The campaig manager seems not to think in this mode very well.
To me, there is nothing like winning a BMSFalcon campaign.

I started a KTO campaign a few weeks ago (the one where the North invades at first, then you have to repel them and capture Wonsan, Pyongyang and Hamhung) and am now in day 3 10am or so. Outlook is excellent, I already got to see the video of “Russia” entering the conflict (maybe I misheard it, but I’m pretty sure it was Russia), and since then both enemy air and ground activity has picked up quite a bit.
Blue has already captured Wonsan (how can I tell if the capture is “complete”? The airbase east of the city is still red, for example, though at status zero) and it looks like Hamhung is next on list up North. I was wondering how to proceed from here, I’m really anxious to fight this campaign (and hopefully win it) to the end, so for most of the time I’ve taken over Prio mgmt myself, reducing naval, infrastructure and CCC strikes to near zero and only taking out specific targets that were bugging my myself, using a self-managed squadron operating out of Seosan (for instance the DPRK withdrawal started once I took out some pesky HQ batallion that had advanced south).
I’m still mostly flying interdiction mssions (using JSOWs I’ll freely admit for the pure fun of employing them), and using Seosan I can mostly bingo with enough fuel to make it back to base using a single bag of centerline fuel (I usually equip the AI with 2 bags though because of their horrific fuel management). ECM pod hasn’t been necessary anymore for quite some time (prio one during day 1 were SEAD operations), so I’ve given up the music pod for the extra bag of fuel that’s quite convenient at times.
Now I’m wondering how to ensure my ground forces don’t “lose it” now that we’re only a few days away from winning the campaign. Blue ground forces are still quite far away from Pyongyang, so I guess we’ll reach Hamhung quite some time before Pyongyang is within reach, so any advice would be very welcome here.

Fly missions with “successful” rating. The initative, moral depends on a scoring system which uses many imputs, this is how was achieved that player’s performance has impact on strategical level either. The dynamic camapign is a very complex RTS which runs in the background while you act in it.
Every city what your forces capture gives suppy points and as I can remember initative pts either but A.S can tell more about the system.

Since I fly mostly interdictions most if not all of my missions have received “excellent” ratings, so I think I’m good on that side of the equation. Also I turned down the infrastructure strike prio to 0 as to avoid breaking / burning down bridges my forces would need to cross later.
