BMS Family Feud time!

that is a good question… i 've had a flameout 2-3 times during combat(one of those cost me my A/C) but nothing serious… i think most of the faults during ramp will be solved by running the test again…(ie flcs bit fault…) other than that… i don’t have a clue…!

It could be the airsource not being set to Norm. It happened to me (see previous posting) and I got a flame-out while pulling g’s.

Not Airsource, Engine feed. Airsource will create TRP fuel, not the same thing.

If you do a ramp start, I assume you go for realism (as far as possible given sim limitations and BMS implementations). Therefor, I would think you also do the necessary tests, even if they are only eye candy.
At least, that’s how I feel about it, and try to push that view in our sqn
Same goes for checking switch positions. Most of them are in the right position when entering pit. However, once one has a physical simp it for example, correct position of the switches is vital. So I do this already to teach myself a good habit just in case future brings a simp it and/or more checks in BMS that could influence your flight if you forgot anything.
Compare it to what we have already. If you don’t set tank feeding or air source correctly you might end up with issues airborne. If BMS 4.X in the past didn’t have that implemented, would you have skipped it? In that case, you end up with an incomplete ramp start from memory in a newer version with those things implemented.
I even note mentally I would have needed to check ANT SEL switches and set anti ice etc, which aren’t implemented (yet?). -

Though it was with AF when it happened, in those pre-BMS days.

By memory, going off HAF -2 checklist with a couple modifications to better reflect reality. I like to do it right every time, but many times online I miss radio check-in because everyone else does it the quick-and-easy way

No, as AMRAAM said: Air source not on can bring TRP fuel warnings or overheat warnings. Flame out during G’s is likely engine feed knob not in normal position, nothing to do with air source.

it is ENG FEED that causes flameouts. had it happen to me in the balkans theater a week ago. once i had dropped about 10000 feet and restarted the engine 3 times (kept flaming out) i switched to NORM and restarted again and it was OK.
phew.

By memory, but skip system tests. But mostly double check my settings twice. First while waiting for taxing and second while waiting for runway clearance.
-
i did check the air source-and-engine feed/normal… when i realised it was just a flameout and not missile… they where both as required hence no misconfigured ac…
(although i can’t remember if i have enabled random failures…)
