Thrustmaster just told me that the Cougar is comming back
-
Let’s hope they will fix the errors of the past and provide a cheaper and better product.
Also I hope that spare parts from the new could be used to old ones and thus maybe an upgrade kit would be just awsome like hal sensors, force sensors… -
Thrustmaster
Hi, we are currently out of stock, but don’t worry, it will come back!
6 ·Out of stock? Old Cougar will come back? No!
-
The logic thing is of course to release a revised Cougar standalone throttle, or a combo "Cougar II"package with the “Warthog” stick and a new F-16 throttle. If it’s released this year, it should be available in 3 - 4 weeks. Wonder why it took them so long to figure that one out….?

probably the ratio of “total investment cost” versus “marketability, sales viability, sustainability and risk” into “expected turnover”
in any case…Cougar = sure buy!

Only great news if they design and manufacture it PROPERLY this time around. My floppy 2001 Cougar sits in box, replaced by the far more reliable x65f.

My problem with the X65F was the reliability it had for being able to pickle while pressing the POV hat…

i guess BMS has given a new potential life to the Cougar
-
I’m pretty sure BMS has given new life to many Cougars, mine included
I would guess that Thrustmaster have also been getting a lot more requests for spares as a result. I’m sure they put 2 and 2 together and realised there was still a sizeable market out there.
Let’s hope this is going to happen and that they don’t take the easy option of a few more production runs and actually bring out something which improves on the original.

…Better and cheaper, those two usually don’t go together but, we can hope.

New cougar with base plate similar to the Warthog Throttle would be awesome… So we could have maybe JFS switch and manual pitch override
-
If it Comes back… will it come with normal Prices or will it come with the high ebay-Prices? If used Cougars are going out for 400 $ and more… what will be the cost of a new one?

I’d say + idle detent.
-
Prediction…. It will be the same internals as the Warthog with different throttle and stick grips.
-
BTW, RealSimulator will have a good surprise for us sooner or later…
DON’T ASK ME THOUGHT.
But, I do believe, as Mav stated, that this BMS-thing is driving the development of a whole new wider area of side-equipment, causing side-effects, mainly to our pockets and wifes.

Better days are coming then. Will be here to embrace what ever these might be…
-
Really interesting. Would love to have Cougar with fixed flaws.
-
Don’t worry it will have a few brand new flaws.
But if I can get the throttle ill be well pleased.
-
That would be awesome.
-
As a few are guessing here I would also guess that they wouldn’t have to do much at all to the WH SSC other than change the painted name on it. Absolute minimal cost there. The throttle is where the cost would come in and also as guessed it would make the most sense to take a WH throttle and modify it for this purpose. That would also give some extra buttons/toggle switches to program in various features. Me I can’t imagine going back to a throttle without those extras as it helps out quite a bit in making it so I don’t have to use the keyboard at all after ramp starting and rarely have to use the mouse when combined with MFDs and a substitute ICP.

I am hoping they come up with a Force Sensing, V2 of the cougar.
:munch:
