I had to start over on making my personal check list at least 3 times.
It took additional repitions to memorize my check list. On the other hand, the purpose of a check list is to USE it, not memorize it.
YOU don’t have to memorize anything. You just have to write the steps down in a way that makes sense to you.

Well it’s pointless now because of the pilot’s legs problem.
Have to get the steering wheel out lads.
BMS gives me massive anxiety.
That’s my problem not BMS’s .I just get major anxiety and depression when trying to figure this sim out.
Iracing I can go around the track and move and it wrings the anxiety out of the system.

I am not good enough up top to EVER learn this.
Iracing you can GET it by just lapping around and around and soon you get the hang of it but this sim requires a fully tuned brain.
Even Ace Combat gives me anxiety on Steam lol.

Well I have the in cockpit checklist printed and to my surprise ,it is way easier to understand than the one I remember from years ago.

Just a suggestion go without the pilot legs mod off the bat until you are more comfortable with the aircraft. If you have TrackIR or FreeTrack you can bend your head around to see other switches etc. If not I would skip the legs mod until you get some kind of head tracking hooked up.

I have track ir 5 with the poo clip pro.
The BMS training script strictly says DO NOT USE track ir and TURN ON THE MOUSE views dadada.

I think the training script won’t run, or something like that, if you have TIR running. But since you have a checklist go ahead and use head tracking. Either that or lose the legs.

Well I can’t do anything yet until I find a workable CH profile.
Scoured the CH Hangar ,downloaded 5 and none of em work due to BMS changing the keystrokes in the latest update.
I do have Burner’s profile but that doesn’t list the hotas controls when I print it out ,only the native names of the CH buttons.
DRIVING ME INSANE!Man ,setting up this sim as just as hard as the sim itself!
P.S.Anyone who has a workable CH products Fighter stick,Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals BMS UPDATE 7 profile,I will bloody pay you for it!
I don’t know how to reveal the keystrokes for the buttons in CH Manager,you think you could right click the mouse and the layer underneath would be revealed but it’s more cryptic than that.

Track IR 5 is too fiddgety when moving close to the side panels and is not reliable even with the poo clip pro. :wfish:

I always wonder why people don’t create their OWN profile? More often then not it’s actually better because you don’t have to learn somebody else’s, and you gain knowledge about how the real HOTAS works in the process. I can’t tell you how many times I have to help guys with their config because they use some generic one that always leaves out a critical function to make up for something that THEY PERSONALLY don’t really need (Ex: switches for POV; or landing gear when you can simply hit the “g” key etc). Tailor it to YOUR flying/fighting style, and as you gain experience, you will most likely change it anyway to suit your preference.
Checkout pg. 30 of the BMS manual located in the docs/Falcon BMS manuals folder in your BMS installation. That’s how the real thing functions. The CH fighterstick and throttle are very close in their setup to the real thing, so it should be self explanatory. Set them up as close to that as you can.
As for ramp starting….Don’t worry about it for now. You don’t HAVE to rampstart ever, simply hit taxi or takeoff option and get used to FLYING the jet. Then, once you get more comfortable with what all the functions of the various switches are used for, rampstart will become second nature. Its far better that way, otherwise like in your case, you are simply memorizing a procedure or checklist without actually knowing what it is you are accomplishing, and that’s neither fun nor productive.
Remember, RL F-16 trainee’s are already accomplished jet pilots when they enter the viper pit for the first time, whereas most of us including myself are not. Therefore they are already familiar with most of the basic terminology and functions that translate to any airframe. They don’t just put Joe pilot into the cockpit and and teach him to rampstart an F-16 right off the bat. This is why I suggest flying and familiarizing yourself with the aircraft first, before being concerned with all the finer details like full rampstart procedure and such. After all, this is a sim and should be fun, you can’t die, and you don’t need to beat your head against the wall to have fun flying it

The F-16 must be the easiest Air Frame to get in the air. Battery, Fuel, Starter, Switch over to main Alternator, Power up the main Subsystems, stuff getting hot in here so some aircon/cooling would be good, turn the radio on (tune to your preferred music) and some lights, don’t forget the ins/nav, smoke a cig while that spins up, Load a Data Cartridge, radar would be cool too. where’s the thing for the HUD. And the ECM but that’s not hard either.
Take it in blocks. Know your aircraft. Its only the JSF that can be tricky.
Some of this stuff you do when you get home from work. A pre 20th century horseless carriage is almost as hard to start.
Smasher remember “tin legs Bader” if you know his story some times your better off without them.

There’s a three-sweep document floating around somewhere that covers this plus a bit more, and it’s how I learned. I can get everything done before the INS finishes aligning and then I’m sitting there waiting for it to finish before I can take off, but skipping over some of the unimplemented tests (4.33 I know I know, makes this bad practice) I can get the Jet booted to flyable state in about two minutes.
The hardest part is getting the throttle idle detente switch to click in the 3D pit.

Well that one is simple then. If you want to run the script and not have TrackIR for that then turn off the legs. They are only in your way and serve no useful purpose.
Look at it like this. Can I use TrackIR? Then I can have the legs. No TrackIR? No legs.

Agreed. If he is having issues with this aircraft I’d fear to see him try and go through a ramp start and the menus for the A-10C.
