Multiplayer Connection Issues
-
This is likely to be the issue –
“I do have multiple network adapters - I run a paid Hamachi network for reasons I will not get into now, and it adds a ‘hamachi network adapter’ to the PC. I will try uninstalling and seeing what happens.”
Good luck

I will try this tonight, and see what happens.
I do have multiple network adapaters - I run a paid Hamachi network for reasons I will not get into now, and it adds a ‘hamachi network adapater’ to the PC. I will try uninstalling and seeing what happens.
Yeah I’m familar with this, and usually this is the way routers work but the jacked up box I got from my ISP (actually brought, from my old house) doesn’t work this way. Instead with the DMZ it assigns the external IP address locally to the DMZ box.
At any rate, everyone has only ever tried using the external address.
You can only route 1 UDP client behind 1 public IP. It’s a limitation of the UDP protocol.
Ie if an external client attempts to reach your IP, it will get to the NAT and your firewall config will route that external client to the one you assigned in the Firewall permissions.
That being said the Firewall has no way to know how to route packets destined to the server box vs. your 2nd client sitting behind the NAT.
eg. UDP 2934 incoming from external IP 129.232.123.12 has no way to chose which machine it’s packets are destined for.
TCP has a source/destination info with the packet, so firewalls can route multiple TCP traffic to multiple machines behind 1 IP, but this is not the case for UDP.
It may work at first, or at least seem as though it is. Generally you will experience some clients that can’t see others, and vice-versa. Causes all kinds of wierd stuff.
Using a VPN creates 2 virtual IPs which the UDP traffic can follow, so there’s no confusion where the packet is supposed to be routed to and from.

Khronik, if I’m understanding correctly, first, Falcon operates on TCP not UDP so it shouldn’t be a problem. But second, with a dedicated host, I only need data routed to one IP behind the router.
At any rate I am apparently a glutton for punishment because I won’t give up.
I re-ordered the priority of the adapters, and I got no change.
I removed the hamaci adapater and software from the pc, and I got no change.
I turned off IPV6 protocols on all of those (I didn’t even know they were on) and I got no change.I download and ran simple port test on ports 2934-2937 on TCP and UDP and it says they are ALLLL open. I don’t know what else to try now.

Excuse me for about a week, please. I am going to travel around the country and kill three people who all had the wrong IP address.

Only 1 PC could connect, but not both. I searched in these forums, and found that only 1 PC can run Falcon under 1 external IP.
This statement is not correct.
The only time there is a problem is if the Host Sets “block dubious connections”.

False, Falcon uses UDP exclusively for MP connection… TCP may be used for IVC, not sure.
I’ve never opened a TCP port EVER for Falcon 4.

I believe if you are being blocked by dubious connections setting being on, chances are you are not correctly port forwarded.
Not really sure why dubious was allowed to be disabled, but back when I was doing my own testing with Falcon 4 networking as soon as a 2nd client would connect to the local server, the external clients became wonky. Old method to test when things weren’t right was to try to view the logbook of the client, or text typed. If it worked it generally meant you had a good connection to that specific client.

The way I understand the problem. Someone correct me if I’m wrong…

Sometimes, the problem is between the Martin-Baker and the ICP
As an occasional programmer, I’m sure you had yourself a few facepalm moments when coding, didnt you ?

Occasional? I think I’m insulted! Also my boss would be very very unhappy…
But yes, that happened to me yesterday with some messy date formatting on a graph.
What kills me is that I asked them all at least six times to check the IP address, and they all said it was good.
Today I demanded screenshots, and when the first guy wouldn’t send it, and then suddenly was able to connect I jumped straight to the third guy who sent me a screenshot, but then admitted he just saw his mistake. What’s amazing is that one guy in Maine me one guy in Canada and one guy in Georgia ALL made the same mistake.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant myself, I dont code much but everytime I do, I feel like I can be really really stupid

Could be the Seat to Keyboard interface causing the issue, known it a few times.

Think in this case the problem was between ICP and Martin Baker…
(Cheers for that one ltcrusader, you just know Im gonna take that one and run with it!)

I am fortunate in that my work enviornment includes a large number of people willing to come over and show me exactly where I am doing something stupid.
In the case of yesterday, I was trying to generate dates in a specific format from 90 days back and it kept giving me date in August and I was sure I was formatting it wrong, but if you count back ninety days…anyway.

Welcome. Please tell me the key combination for the transmission of communications in a network game using IVC. Thank you!

It depends on which key file you are using.
When you enter the game and go to setup, and controls, and you get a list of the keys and their commands, what does it say in the green text right above that?

Yes. As ASharpe says, the keystroke depends on exactly what keyfile you are using.
The command names should be something like:
SimTransmitCom1 …. “HOTAS-UHF”
SimTransmitCom2 … “HOTAS-VHF”Keymaps for the default keyfiles can be found at: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals

If memory serves the 2D IVC keys “F1 F2 F3” don’t reference the .key file at all.

yeah, I thought they were hard coded?
