I WANT BUY A NEW HOTAS COUGAR!!
-
Hey Guys!I come from China, I want buy a new HOTAS Cougar, Who have a new one ? please contact me,my E-mail:[email protected]
Thanks everyone! -
The short answer is no one has a new one.
The slightly longer answe is that they are no longer in production so second hand is the best you’ll get.
-
there are some new ones people have lying around in boxes. (someone had a sim shop that they bought them for and were selling them off, iirc)
but its rare. -
I WANT BUY A NEW HOTAS COUGAR!!
WHY???
…seriously. The new Warthog is the much better stick. You shoud be happy with it out of the box.
If you desperately want the Cougar F-16 throttle, get a used one. With the Realsimulator USB adaptor you should even be able to use it with the Warthog stick.A new stock Cougar isn’t worth it. I didn’t like the mechanics / the feel for the lack of precision. Also I dislike the stock potentiometers that tend to wear out and start spiking especially when combined with the gimbal bearings developing some play causing shear forces on the pots.
And if you plan to mod it, again a used one would be the better option as virtually all wear parts would be replaced anyway.
Greets!

Nah, Id have gotten a ‘new’ Cougar if I could when I bought mine. Basically the only reason to buy a Cougar is if you intend to mod it with a force sensing mod.
If you buy a used one, chances are good you will end up replacing pots on some of the other axes instead sooner. The TQS contains quite a few ‘wear’ parts which are not replaced, even if you have a throttle mod (and I don’t, as yet - I don’t think there is a newer throttle mod since Penny’s?).
-
Get a Saitek X65, force sensing, metal construction - solid.
-
Ehh, that was my first HOTAS, still think the Cougar is an upgrade
-
Nearest to new I could find. Seller says “only used 3 times”.
-
A lot of money for a used Cougar.
-
Yeah, the average price is about a hundred bucks lower. Varies - seen them go for double figures once o.0
-
This is about as new as you’re going to find

Lookin for a sanity check here. I’m a new member on my 2nd attempt (1st attempt overwhelmed me) to gather all the components needed to get onboard with BMS. Computer’s on order … flightstick, throttle, and rudders are my concern now.
I ordered the “Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar PC Flight Stick Joystick and Never Used Throttle” via the ebay link provided by Icarus in his Jan 17th, 14:08 reply (above) to this thread. My idea next is to order the FSSB R2 mod from Realsimulator. Hopefully it’s not to hard for me to do the actual mod myself. My thinking is that this will be the closest setup (Cougar stick & throttle) to the real thing. And check me on that …
Secondly, what I’m having trouble wading thru is well … FSSB R2 vs FSSB R3, and Cougar stick vs Warthog stick. I’ve got this nagging sense that somehow I’m missing out by not getting the FSSB R3 set-up. If I did, would I be able to use the Cougar stick (just the stick) with it? And the Cougar throttle?
The Realsimulator FSSB R3 page says (and I’m not really sure what’all it means) that …
“Unlike (FFSB) R1 and (FSSB) R2 models, the new (FSSB) R3 has an propietary RealSimulator electronic system, both analog and digital processing, and can be used in two ways, both as an upgrade and as independently. Therefore behave as two separate joysticks, which can operate independently or together.”Finally, without startin a war here, lol … I’m gettin the sense the Warthog stick is better than the Cougar stick? Why?

Hi, to summarize. I own 2 cougar (no, I don’t sell one…) a warthog and an FCC3. I’ve tried FSSSB R2.
FSSB R2=FCC3, I cannot talk about R3. But his adventages are obvious.
So: FSSB R3>FSSB R2/FCC3>Warthog>Cougar
Just talking about how it works and how similar is to the real thing (yes, a close friend of mine flew one F16).
Have fun! -

This looks better.
I just bought this one last week (my other one wore out, just wanted one)…got lucky, it is in pristine condition. Throttle was still in the plastic and has not been used. The stick looks like it has only a couple hours on it. I took it apart, and it has virtually no wear yet. That guy let it go for 250.00. Crazy…I also have a Warthog, I just like using the TQS for the F-16.
