How many polys
-
Guys (Red Dog and DeeJay) did you make in your life a work with 3ds max or other software for modeling? All modelers use the confrontation with reality or with another reference for to make a new work.
Thank you for your explanation Danguard.
To answer your question:
- I am a plastic model builder (matter of fact I built that 1/35 SA-6 from trumpeter a while ago) doingscratch parts and often using 3D software for that
- I am also a cockpit builder and along the path of building my cockpit I had indeed to learn the basics of 3D modelling
- Lastly i also make quite a bit of BMS skins for models.
The above three hobbies indeed provide basic understanding of how 3D model work and how 3D models are skinned.
That’s because, legally speaking, if a model differs by a single polygon from another is impossible to accuse someone of copyright infringement.
Legal stuff is one thing but it’s beside the point here. We are not going to sue anyone for such tiny détails (although we already received quite our loads of petty threats)
The issue here is abiding to forum rules and respecting the users of this forum by giving credit where t is due as quoted above from the forum rules. You are not at stake here because you didn’t provide that Sa-6 for download here, but a third party asked a question using those models.
So let’s make things quite clear you didn’t breach our forum rules. This whole thread is here because other ppl wants to take part of it and needs to be pointed to OUR forum rules.STILL, I’d like to point something out:
If you really did that model from scratch - which I would accept for the moment on the benefiit of the doubt.
Why the heck do you allow a Template to be used on your model that is available from a free model website, without asking at least your Skinner to make a specific skin for it?
That last image is from: http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/2k12-kub-74976.html
Look at the serial: Even the flipping transparency on the sides are the same, therefore tell me the skins is your team’s ??? No way mateLastly I also know that when I skin a BMS model, if that model is just a bit updated then the skin I created for the original model will still be suitable but will be inevitably messed up at places.
The importance of the mismatch will be proportional to the amount of work done on the 3D model. the more you change the 3D model, the more skin mismatches will be visibleSo you created a model from scratch but a texture available on a free model website still match ??
At least accord us the benefit of the doubt and understand why we question those models. There are quite a bit of coïncidences involved. But as I said, you didn’t offer the model for donwload here, (Mr N did and was banned for it) so you didn’t breach our forum rules.
These models may be included in other BMS mods or terrain and that’s their responsibility to accept this or not, as they may have other’s rules. In this very example, the model is free. All we would ask if the model was offered for download here would be:
Model initially done by XXX (with eventually a link) updated by YYY and suitable for BMS third party integration.
Nothing more, issue closed.
But it seems difficult to accept for many of the guys here . -
+1000.
People (or at least I) dont say it enough, RD, but thanks for taking the time for doing all this.
+10000!!!

I’ve made this when I was much younger … 20years ago with
(under DOS)Made also the Saturn VI rocket plus the LEM … but gave up 3D modeling after this project because was too much time consuming.

3DS4 for 3D modellers, and 2 Technics record players for the DJ’s, … oldschool rulez, … those were the days. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f82/lazystone/Smileys/coolio.gif
… and brings back nice memories here.;)Sigh
It seems you’re not untalented. I like youir renderings. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f82/lazystone/Smileys/speak_cool.gif
Cheers, http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f82/lazystone/Smileys/hat_3.gif
LSHehe thank you Lazy … no blueprint nor dimension available back in 1995 I’ve used only paper photos and by memory. This is why I am not good in relative dimensions nor in colors (especially for the mixer, on the photos, I saw a light blue, but IRL was gray … never minds, I was happy with the result.
Technics SL1200 Limited (The Rolls Royce among the DJ turntables)
Pioneer DJM500
Pioneer CDJ500 MkII
Was my dream back in 1995 when I just started to learn DJing … Now, when I hae the time here and there, I am using VDJ8 with a Hecules DJ4Set console which 20 times cheaper and allow to do the same… or even more. But this is not the same feeling than vinyl. I really miss this feeling but for the rare case I still mix, it doesn’t worse the money to buy again an entire set. However, I still have two cases full of vinyl records.
… well well …
Unfortunately, no render for my Apollo project. Only the mesh file in .PRJ
… If I had more free time, I would like ti give a try to 3DSMax … but I do not have enough faith.
Sorry for OT guys … but good memories

Dee-Jay, IMHO mixing vinyl is the only true mixing.
Regarding 3DSMax, …
While looking at your renderings, I’ve asked myself if it don’t prickle in your fingers to do 3D modelling,
… if you would have more time.If you’ll ever try 3DSMax, then you’ll see that you can do nice things with your 3DS4 knowledge.;)
Cheers,

LOL!
Oh no! … you know, what you see in my rendering is only very basic shapes, cube rectangle, disc … nothing common with anything we would need for BMS. We have already some good and talented 3D artists, I wold rather make them loosing time by asking help than doing something valuable for the community.
There are other areas where I can be more valuable (and I am not talking about forum moderation … I sucks ) , so, each to his own “job”!
EDIT:
BTW … Amazing smiley’s collection Lazy!

@Red:
quoting forum rules you did accept January 1st, 2015:
I’ll re explain for you Demer since you seem not to understand
So you can be pisapointed Demer, I don’t care one tiny bit. You don’t understand one bit of what is at stake
I fully understand the forum rules Dog. What I don’t understand is the insistence of BMS to control 3rd Party Theater content….Dumfounded on that What could be at stake for BMS other than providing a link to said 3rd party theater? It is not payware, it has little to do with BMS, other than the forum and the .exe. The onus is on the producer of the media, in this case the theater developers, at least here in the States.
As far as disappointed…LOL…I get over that fast with Falcon, have since Delphi Daze, U should too M8…makes your Falcon Day easier
Cheers,
Dave
BTW: Thanks to you and the other Mods for your work -
control 3rd Party Theater content
Only what is appearing on BMS forum page. Only this.
I fully understand the forum rules …
Good. So, when registering on BMS forum, you have the option to clic “no” I do not agree with forum rules.
The reasons behind and motivations are not your affair and does only concern BMS members and the forum owner.

Demer
No point going round and round in circles here weather you understand it or not you and everybody else know the rule on this sites forum
we could go into all the in’s and outs of what could be the case but to be honest I’m not going to were international so the onus could change by country to country for a small example
even if that’s not the case we have set the rules everybody excepted them so for me case closed/regards
