TrackIR Pro Clip fragility
-
How many of you have had to replace the clip assembly because of the fragility of the itty-bitty clips at the two pivot points?
I’ve had to replace mine twice now.
Possibly Natural Point can redesign so that external forces (whether deliberate or not) won’t break the clips that hold those pivot point together.

Yep, haven’t replaced it, just use velcro cable ties.

Hmmm …. probably better than electrical tape. Oh well, too late.

Solid metal clip with 3 diodes attached. I’ve dropped the headset it’s attached to several times accidentally, no problems whatsoever (at 20% the price of trackIR, less if you have a webcam)
Cheers, Uwe

Haven’t had any problems ever. I did have to buy a new one because my wife or kids lost mine when I deployed last year.

I also use the Delan clip with TIR 4 for about 2 years now, after damaging the track clip pro. No problem since.

Just superglue the joint in a middle position. Doesn’t need to be adjustable.

Damn you, karma. -_-
3 years without any issues whatsoever, despite quite a few drops and taking it with me to a LAN almost every month. I read this topic and the very next thing that happens is it falls down and breaks…

Thank you for posting the link to DelanClip, I think my clip is on the way out, and the bracket for holding it onto my headset is about as strong as a 90 year old holding onto a stripper pole!

Yup, dropped my Delanclip many times. Well worth it for $33USD. Painted mine black…looks great. He will make them for either side of your headset too.

Now that I’ve gotten the replacement clip, I’ve taken a step to prevent further damage while I’m not using it - I fit my headset around a 6" diameter candy can I have nearby. I figure that this will prevent either of my cats from damaging it (by lying or sitting on it) when she wants attention RIGHT NOW.

Had mine’s for about 3 weeks now… best investment purchase of 2015 so far.
