Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)

Nikolai, The cool thing about the BMS HOTAS callbacks (ie the bindings that mimic RW hotas functions) is that they have multiple functionality built-in. So long as you bind the STICK: PINKY SWITCH(DX SHIFT) call back as I mentioned, and not “DX shift” or “FOV” to your pinky, you will get exactly the results you are seeking; the default behaviour of STICK: PINKY SWITCH(DX SHIFT) is FOV on a short press (duration of which is defined in 'Falcon BMS.cfg) and SHIFT function on a longer press.
A better explanation is available in the Dash-1 manual in the sections explaining cockpit functions, and it is well worth a read.

I installed version 1.40 on 4.34 on a w10 professional on a bootcamp Mac by placing the .exe and .config in the x86-folder. When I run the launcher.exe, nothing happens. Well ok, ik get 1s of the spinning Windows thing and then silence… any suggestions?
EDIT: ok, saw the remark on the download page “If the Hub.exe does not launch, put DLLs to /bin/x86/”. Did that, and now everything works fine

Hi folks,
I got a question which obsesses me since the very first time when I discovered and installed the ‘BMS Alternative Launcher’.
Where is the “load key-file” button? This tool is full of useful tips, explanations, has a nice looking UI and the development is ongoing it seems, which is very nice! But what is the use of this tool for those of us, who have already there key-file and only want to make one or two changes to it? …without calling our IT friend again. (like me ^^)
Don’t get me wrong, much respect for “chihirobelmo” and everyone else who spent its spare time for programing. - Is this feature planned for the future? I’m really curious! -
Hi Zero, I was in the same boat when I first used AltLauncher, but I just bit the bullet and re-created my keyfile from scratch.
Now that you don’t have to manually edit the keyfile, it shouldn’t take very long, unless you have changed all the keyboard assignments as well (why!!!?)
The main use for me for AL was to keep all my wayward controllers in line so it was worth it to redo my keyfile.

I notice in game the Keyfile is still called BMS Full, does your Keyfile override/overwrite it? There were a couple keys that I set in your launcher that didn’t show up so I reassigned them in game, but 95% matched (for what I have on A CH Fighterstick).

It doesn’t rewrite it unless you wanted to augment. Mostly let you use the BMS full to its greatest potential. Alternate launcher is the software that should’ve been developed years ago and puts the stock GUI obsolete. The stock GUI keys programmer is incapable of translating everything that alternate launcher can do. You will have to go into the 3-D to see it work and to check it.

Maybe I have lost some news, but what is the file zip .dll?
ThanksIs this app for 4.33 or can be used also for 4.34??
Thanks

Working fine in 4.34

Which key/callback not assigned?

Which key/callback not assigned?
I’ll have to go back and look, but as i’m only using my CH Fighterstick (Throttle still packed) it shouldn’t be hard to figure out. It may have been the radar scan angle or range as I have/had them (range) set to Hat #3 and I remember having to switch range up/down to OSB 19 and 20. Not sure about azimuth angle. I was most concerned about changes in BMS Full keyfile as I use YAME 64 and it is based on it’s bindings, still works fine.
And THANK YOU, this launcher is fantastic! :first:

Just an explanation, where do I install this program? May be in c:\Falcon BMS 4.34 or there is a special place to extract this file?
Thank you, sorry for my ignorance! -
You need to go into your Falcon BMS 4.34\Bin\x86 folder, make a backup of Hub.exe and extract the Hub.exe and Hub.exe.config files to that folder.
You should then be able to use your regular Falcon BMS 4.34 shortcut and it will launch the Alternative Launcher instead.
-
No way…I extract into C:\Falcon BMS 4.34\Bin\x86 then I launched from my desktop shortcut, but nothing happen! Are you sure that I have to extract into that position??

I downloaded it/unzipped into a Downloads folder called “BMS 4.34\Alternative launcher”, run it right from there with a desktop shortcut, no issue at all. Can’t remember, but does it ask for config info at the startup? There is a Setup.ini created, first few lines in mine are (I think all that matters is the FalconDir and FalconKey entries):
[Main]
Version=True
Theater=0
Program=DTC
FalconDir=C:\Falcon BMS 4.34
FalconKey=4.34
Mission= -
If you extract into C:\Falcon BMS 4.34\ this zip file extract hub.exe and hube.exe.ini in that directory and nothing happen! It should be classic rule to insert a read me file inside the zip file, but it is not present at all!

You have version 1.4? https://github.com/chihirobelmo/FalconBMS-Alternative-Launcher/releases. Did you try simply running Hub.exe?
-
If you have any command line switches (e.g. -window), make sure you remove them.
The Alternative Launcher didn’t launch at all for me until I removed “-window” from my Falcon BMS shortcut.
Also, make sure you launch using the default launcher once so registry keys are created.

There is no Hub.exe.ini, maybe Hub.exe.config right?
Extract them to C:\Falcon BMS 4.34\Bin\x86

I don’t know what is the problem. I have tried all the way you have suggested, but nothing happen. The software is 1.40 and I have extracted it into C:\Falcon BMS 4.34\Bin\x86 then tried to launch from the desktop shortcut…just a notice that a “strange software is present”, but nothing else. I have launched as administrator, but also in this way silence!
-
Do you really get “strange software is present”? That in itself is pretty cool!
