Cougar Throttle
-
My Cougar throttle has suddenly started acting up. When I have it all the way aft it still indicates about 25% on the configure setup area as well as in the game. Is there a way to reset the idle back to where it should be?
Thanks,

Try re-calibrating - both in the CCP and in Windows. if neither of those help I’d suspect a worn/slipped pot.

The Cougar manual says to never use Windows Calibration tool. There is a Thrustmaster tool installed with Foxy or CCP to erase internal calibration … Check your Cougar manual and installation folder.
It worth to try. I have solved a similar issue with the TM reset tool.

GunI assume you HAVE right clicked on AB box with throttle physically at min ? (it is RIGHT ? not at pc to check)

Check AB detent ( left mouse) and idle detent (right click) in falcon UI If they need to be reconfigured. If you have CCP check the viewer for throttle axis range or if you have foxy too check range via axis viewer ( the button with black and green axis. If they show that you have an amount of input when fully aft then you probably have a disrupted firmware or a pot issue . Try deleting the firmware and reinstall it ( caution disconnect throttle from stick or you will result to a destroyed pot). If that not resolve the problem try to delete the hotas from win joysticks list and reinstall it. Then let windows recognise the full range of each axis by moving them all at full and minimum ranges. If you have another PC install hotas to it and test it. Be patient along the hole procedure. May be the pot is still alive and you just have a win axis calibration issue. But surely don’t use the win calibration tool for hotas cougar.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for the quick responses. I tried the right click to set idle and that seems to have solved much of the issue. I actually wasn’t aware of that feature. It is playable again. Although when I look at the falcon setup the throttle response isn’t perfect. The bar on the setup screen spikes a little when moving throttle forward and back. Not as smooth as before. But I think I can go bomb North Korea and Rocket man! I’m going to put on my speed jeans and give her a try. Thanks again to everyone above. I owe you all a beer!Gun

If problem persists try to clean the pot. It’s easy if you have some skills. I clean my pots several years now and they still work. Ask and you will get help.
Have fun -

I’ve used both in conjunction, and not encountered any oddness…may be something in the order in which I run them. MMV.

Thanks Igbomber. It seems to be much better now. I’ll let you know when I need help with the pots.

Another example of where all sorts of well intended extreme measures suggested before the basics exhausted.
@Gun be aware that the start position of afterburner is set with the other mouse button. If anything unclear refer to manual.
