Israel 1980s - UOAF edition
-
Not really? Its not exclusively western equipment
-
An Iranian F14 joining the war in Syria on day 2 or 3 would be a whole other level in coolness.
I have flown probably 15 missions in each of the First 2 campaigns and it is awesome fun. So much better than I thought it was going to be.
SAM placement in Syria is excellent and SAMS in general feel good.
One thing I have noticed. F4 phantoms will frequently maneuver kill themselves when trying to evade missiles on Ace.
-
If two front campaigns don’t work, (damn it) the third campaign isn’t going to be another Syria. It will have the FLOT at the Suez canal so that some October War style battles can play out. There is a whole western portion of Egypt that doesn’t see much action in ITO, that I’d like to utilize.
I do love the idea of Iranian F-14’s but will that mess with the “authenticity” of Peace for Galilee? Then again, as I’ve mentioned, it’s not authentic for Israel to start pummeling military and industrial infrastructure in Syria, so maybe that could trigger Iranian response….? Idk I’ll do some research on Iranian military and stuff, just spitballing

I’ve had IDF F-4s killing themselves on take-off. So they take off in a northerly direction, trying to turn south immediately after take-off and they just stall and lawn dart. I’ve seen it a few times now. I’ve never seen Korean F-4s do that in the KTO campaigns though?!
-
Oh jeez… I’ll put F4 behavior on the list. Should compare their flight model files to see what is different. We haven’t edited them.

IDF F-4 it sure needs editing. It surely is for slatted f-4, and its sure that the slatted f-4’s have a speed bleed-off in high AOA but this is too much i noticed that also when i was making my tests with my phantom models, ok i didnt kill my self on take off but mostly the wingman alway stall and eventually crash. On the other hand US f-4 has the unslatted characteristics. Sure isnt that much agile as the slatted one (a litlle longer time to turn but it doesnt bleed that much of energy and speed i found it out completely by luck when i did the first test on EJ witch the characteristics is the same (Unslatted) and comparing the 2 files revealed to little of a difference. My 2 cents untill someone edit the dat files will be to simply use the usaf f-4 dat. ( it think is f-4e.dat and ROKAF f-4 uses this as well) I will speak with a friend of mine that had this problem also here in Greece and he told me he wanted to edit some things. and let u know as soon as possible. If you dont want to do the above change there is another recommendation is as soon you hear “2 Airborne” change formation or tell him to switch sides 98 out of 100 times for me it worked.
-
Agreed, we should just use the USAF f-4 flight model. Will test it out when I get time.

For the records only im stating below parts of the 2 dat files.
F4EIAF.dat :#MODIF TOPOLO, Based of Slated F-4E Blk50 with J79-GE-17
#Flat limitor fix 2014-09-03F4E.dat :
#MODIF TOPOLO as F-4E Blk41 (without leading edge slats) with J-79-GE-17
#Flat limitor fix 2014-09-03 -
Just made also a quick research to both files. Major differences are to be found in lift coeficient, drag coeficient and similar tables but the difference is for example in EIAF.dat writes : 0.013xxx and in E.dat writes : 0.012xxx. I dont know of that things so i cant tell if its really a big difference there. What draws my attention though is that in # AIbehaviour it reads in EIAF this : optTakeoffPitch 13.0 but in E is optTakeoffPitch 12.0 maybe this line plays a role? Im not too much into the dat files to tell you the truth the only thing i can edit is the distances for the wheels and maybe edit the fuel and stuff closer to reality, i dont touch those i wrote over cause i dont even know the meaning. but a whole unit (from 12 to 13) might make a difference (thinking with my poor brain) if supposed to talk about degrees at least cause if (lets say IF) in the current state of the dat file you taking an aircraft in high AOA when u know that it bleeds speed and energy in a phase as the takeoff isnt that a bit odd? I will commerce my tests on that in today and i will report back!
EDIT:
Reporting: I didnt saw any real difference using 13 or 12 BUT, i saw difference in the side where wingman is taking off. If he’s taking off from your right side then he pulls too many G’s when airborne to come to the left so he bleeds rapidly Airspeed from aprox. 320+ knots to 80 and he stalls (hence the switch side command works) When on your Left everything goes normal. The test was made in 2 missions the one had after takeoff a almost 180 degree right turn to WP2 but the wingman was on my left during take off. On the second one was a slight maybe 60-70 degree left turn after take off and he stalled in 3 times i had the mission the 4th time i commanded him to switch side as soon i heard “airborne” and everything went ok… Same thing happend to the next flight after me. So i dont really know where to look and what to edit… Maybe some of the coders here can help? -
Thanks for the feedback and research everyone, i’ve made sure everything reported here is on our work board.

Great work on this theater and its presentation (UI, music, sounds) guys.
I would like to share two incredible experiences I had flying the first campaign. Still cannot believe it happened;-)First one was going into a dogfight, switching to sidewinder and locked up the bandit far out. Flying straight and level closing the distance.
As I was about to fire suddenly a F-15 eagle roared overhead, very close and fast and fired its missile killing the bandit.Second one was flying TARCAP near Syrian border, we were dragged into Syrian territory and into SAM range (SA-6, SA-3).
I was trying to dogfight this mig-23 and at the same time all SAM hell broke loose on me.
First 2 missile I was able to track and evade, then I just kept trailing my MIG-23 in a close turn near, hoping the closeness to the ground and sharp turns could safe me at the same time.
After few turns I still got hit by a SA-6 after what was a very intense few minutes (In which also my PC was crumbled by low fps)
The intensiveness was confirmed by what I later saw in the debrief. Actually 26 in total SA-6 and SA-3’s where fired at me, the last one SA-6 got me;-)
To be fair more luck than wisdom I guess;-)Keep up the good work, very impressed, but also keep an eye on the fps, mainly over Syria fps crumbled.
Cheers Obi1

By the way everything i reported for the Phantom isn’t Theater relative! It happens almost to every theater
-
Right, since the phantoms are so prominent in this theater, might as well take a shot fixing it. How’s that Kurnass model coming, Manos?

Also new Beta 2.1 released on the front page

Hi Krause,
Would it be possible for you to add a torrent download? My internet connection isn’t very stable, and I’ve already tried downloading this four times… -
Is there a list of new aircraft with this theater?
