Super loud warning BEEP/HORN sound - it hurts my brain
-
There is not other knob (or slider) controlling the Betty and alarm tone. You have to play with Intercom and Comms knob.
-
Play with the sound sliders in the SETUP menu?
I’ve set intercom in the setup at around 1/5 of the bar, but then in the cockpit everything is the same if I rotate the knob fully ClockWise.
I can live without having the breathing sound on, but by decreasing the intercom volume, I believe I won’t hear people clearly enough. One of the sounds I’m talking about is this one, which plays at ~5:59 in this video (although almost every intercom sound is loud in this video) :
The other horn sound I’ve mentioned is playing instead of the vocal “Warning, Warning”, and it’s way louder than any of the other betty sounds. -
I usually turn the intercom all the way off, then 3-clicks on.
You can test the alarm volume during ramp with the test button (back left panel, iirc) to make sure it’s set how you want it.

Normal … it is the same. Setup slider do not set the max vol but the default one. Intercom knob in cockpit is the same than the setup slider.

I recommend to turn on oxygen breathing sound and adjust intercom to “barely present.” Afterward oxygen can go off. Then the task is to ensure all the other sounds are suitable. I would say you have a radio-too-quiet problem and not a VMC-too-loud one.
By “other players” do you mean AI or IVC? There are ways to boost IVC gain. The sound you hear is a multiplication chain from Windows volume, intercom, radio, AI-v-IVC bias adjustment, IVC config gain adjustment, friend’s microphone, and how loud friend wants to talk.
Let’s look at the chain and see where improvements can be made (reverse order):
1. Get louder friends.
2. Get better microphone for friends.
3. Some config options. I thought some exist for 3D space but maybe these help
set g_bUseIvcUiVolume 1 // UI IVC Volume is controlled independently from the COMM1/2/UHF/VHF volume sliders
set g_nIvcUiVolume 5 // UI IVC Volume in db, range -6 to +6 (if controlled independently)
4. While most people use automatic gain control (ACG) when you turn it off (or maybe when it’s on too?) you should be able to adjust the IVC-to-AI balance with one of the knobs on the UHF panel. I thought there was a config or IVC Config.ini flag for improved gain.
5. Since Falcon and IVC are distinct programs Windows volume mixer should separate their audio streams. It should be possible to turn down Falcon relative to IVC Client and then the whole mess up. -
…curious…what’s your PC System sounds set to? Suggestion - dial the BMS Music up full blast, adjust your System Sound level until the Music is tolerable (if it ever is…), and then play with the BMS Sounds Setup levels. That should get you there.

They were at max so I could clearly hear other people, if necessasy I’d tune other sounds down leaving COM 1 and COM 2 up, but apparently that messes up with the warning sounds, coming too loud.
Did what you said and tested it out in a dogfight, all betty sounds have an ok volume, and I can still hear the engine and outside noises very lightly, which is good.
It’s weird though, I just installed the Israel theater and the Block 52 is now playing the vocal “Warning, warning” correctly instead of the loud horn. The warning is coming in an ok volume though. -

Thanks.

Ok, that makes much more sense now. I couldn’t get how Intercom was still loud while I had it almost mute on the settings xD.
