Update 5 High Speed Issue
-
@A.S:
PS: happened several times over the years, but only low as far as i remember (ground effect related?)
… according to my experience (see it with Jp during 4.34 dev …) it is rather “mech turbulence” rather than “ground effect”.
-
If it helps, I have this behaviour too. I was able to reproduce it several times in “Furball” or the quick mission (Not TE, I never fly with 800 knots there).
-
Your “bug report” never mentioned that it was in DF module. And without info, it is hard to provide support.
Fact is: It is not a new issue, it is just the 1st time you experience it.
You’re right, no way to change weather in DF module.FYI this bug exist in all 3 modules (Campaign, TE, Dogfight).
Dogfight module is just the quickest way to test it.My spec:
GeForce GTX 970
Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16 GB RAM
Win-10 -
Guys
This is NOT a new bugKnown issue for a long time now
Difficult to solve easily since Rig related
The higher the fps the more likely you will get it at very high speed
You can install any update you will reproduce it

It doesn’t make any sense - if this bug is Rig related then I could have seen that bug in U4.
Since I didn’t upgrade my PC everything should remain as it used to be, right? We test it again with Grooz and Ali.
They both report the same bug. -
WTF???
-
Oh Kurwa Oh Kurwa hahahahahahaha
-
Could be rig related. I’ve never experienced such a weird Viper’s behaviour, so having read the OP’s report, I flew a number of flights at different altitudes and at speeds exceeding 700 kts, all in KTO, with U5 installed. Nothing like the buffeting shown in the clips occurred. As my comp is pretty weak by today’s standards, I registered pretty stable 32 fps all along the flight path, so it is quite likely that the ‘bug’ manifests itself at higher fps only.
-
talking of which… under 50-60 FPS i eject (in any sim) … personal reasons only. I have to be able to feel the “fluid”.
-
Well, first off, people need to report a few things to attempt to really vet this out.
You have the BMS team saying it’s rig related and is an old bug, and people are reporting it does or does not happen in different updates and it’s turning into somewhat of an argument.
So things like, is it a clean jet, what speed, what update version of BMS, and system specs(all of them) are going to be needed to even begin to attempt to figure this out.
On an up note….other flight sims, i.e., FreeFalcon and DCS don’t have this issue!! LMAO!!!
Seriously though, someone needs to start gathering the info to even try to nail the issue down. Won’t be easy, but something in the code doesn’t like something that is going on!!

Might be even be totally cured in the future version … I was able to repro on early 4.34Btest version, but if I am not wrong, I can’t anymore on the latest. So …
But no time to test it yet. Will have to wait two weeks at least.
-
I know exactly what’s going on
you can keep discussing it if you want to loose your time

Not it’s not cured

By the way workaround is simple
Click simplified flight’model in UI
Bugs’ gone

So this is an FM/AFM issue??
I just tried to reproduce it in the DF module.(Although I highly doubt it’s module related)
I tried with a clean jet and a loaded jet. Angels 16 over 750 Knots and I couldn’t reproduce it!!! I’m on Update 5.

Of course this is AFM related
I told you already that this is a RK4 algorythm convergence issue !!!
And this doesn’t happen on all rigs , this is fps dépendant , hard to track , hard to solve
I’m telling you , no change at all in this area since 4.32 and all versions since had some of this symptom
Could compiler parameters increase the problem ? Don’t know but we will look at it

I did not see that info about the algorithm!!
Hmm, would have to mess around with vSync to see if I can exceed the FPS, just for sh*t’s and grins.
Tks,

Anyone had this wierd looking bug in Update 5?
It never happen before U5.Like Mav-jp said, this has been noted already:

@JP:
I fully understand you might be pissed off with people finding this bug after so many updates. But this might be due to the fact that most of us did not have fast PCs sometime ago (myself, for example)?!
But lets try to be constructive and to find a solution, instead of saying to people to run the simplified FM?I do numerical integration on the field of molecular dynamics, chemical kinetics and QM/MM etc for living and use Rugge Kutta, implemented that a few times (Matlab, C++,originC and python) and have faced convergence/truncation/numerical instability problems. Sometimes solution was to go to a different order, without loosing a lot of accuracy, other times the problem was different, connected to some racing conditions inside a simulation loop. If you are willing to share some details that you know (codewise), perhaps some of us can give some fresh thinking on that?!

Guys, let Mav-JP alone.
He does not need help to find a solution. Its just a matter of having the time, the priority, and energy to do it.
He has already said he knows what is going on and has an idea why it appears.
Besides he has done far more difficult Falcon code jobs in the past I am sure.Sorry for stepping in here, he does not need that help from me too, but I just wanted to say.
Cheers Obi1
