Mission 12: AGM-88 HARMS
-
Hi All
Working my way through learning weapon systems etc, in Mission 12: AGM-88 HARMS it states the threat of SA-6 (as below), Its there, however, I don’t see it with a threat circle in WDP , TE map and doesn’t appear on the MFD the other SA do.
PPT 56: SA-3 (fixed) Flat Face search (‘S’ on RWR) and acquisition & Low Blow missile guidance (‘3’)
PPT 57: SA-4 (mobile) Long Track search (‘S’) and acquisition & Pat Hand missile control radar (‘4’)
PPT 58: SA-6 (mobile) Straight Flush search, acquisition & missile control (‘6’)
PPT 59: SA-2 (fixed) Spoon Rest search and acquisition (‘S’) & Fan Song missile guidance (‘2’)Install is Falcon 4.33 U5
Other missions I created with TE I thought I had fried the Fan Song radar as I have seen one or two SAMS heading towards me then plummet to earth … wrong … at end of mission said it still functional.
Advice appreciated.

Because it’s mobile, and a threat circle isn’t?
EDIT: which HARM mode were you in when you shot at the FANSONG, and did you have correct target acquisition/firing solution? For training/cheat you can hit F7 and watch your ordinance fly to and hit/miss the target. Or you can use Tacview, an invaluable tool

HAD for Mission 12 and HAS for the TE’s.
HAD the target designated TMS up with white box filled with red
HAS TMS on the SAM RDY visibleI new to this so I think I gave you the answer you wanted.
BTW thanks for the reply
Also in Mission 12 in HAD mode my TGP is blank in the manual its like a maverick type screen visible, pressing buttons everywhere can’t seem to get it.

the TGP isn’t loaded in mission 12.
Therefore the page is accessible from the MFD menu but remains blank.
You can’t load the pod in 4.33 in this configuration. The images of the TGP in the manual are for illustration purposes to clearly explain to the reader what is happening with the vehicules in the battalion.
unless you see it blow up, you can never be sure the sam you’re fired at has been destroyed or not.
Fixed sam sites with one radar are easier to target than mobile battalions where each launcher may have its own firing radar.Look for the RWR symbol after your missile hit. if it reappears, you missed
if it does not reappear, it may be destroyed … or the sam Ai is smarter than you think and will wait your worst moment to light you up again
Be always on the lookout for the possibility of your missiles to miss -

Hi,
I understand that you are pretty new to some of the stuff here, as I see you are comparing the TGP to a Maverick because the screen is similar.
What I suggest then is that instead of starting to fire A-G weapons immediately, better that you first thoroughly go over the A-G radar and Sniper XR TGP (Targeting pod) sections of the 3-4 manual. That should get you a fair overview of how the A-G system work and how the different sensors play together. Then after you feel that you understand the relationship between A-G radar, TGP and you got the idea of what is SPI (Sensor Point Of Interest), I suggest that only then you go back to understand the different weapons.
