        Could be several reasons ….

        … System or program is not on/active (check C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Dash1.pdf Page 30);
        … Selected program is not defined to drop chaff/flare (C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Manual.pdf Page 17 & 115);
        … Command callback not set to HOTAS/Stick or Keyboard (check your keyfile for “SimCMSUp”)

          If you are like me and used to other flight sims where one key stroke drops chaff, another drops flares and/or both then it’s time to research up. This sim uses a program switch that activates the selected chaff/flare program that is selected (total of 6). One keystroke activates one of the first four programs that you have selected. The other two switches for the last two programs. I call them the panic switches. I have one programmed for chaff for and the other for flare. I think it’s the Dash 1 that explains it.

            Also, you need to set up your data cartridge. You customize your chaff/flare programs through that. And…. :rtfm:

              Before you worry about EWS programs (siix of 'em) you can test the basic functionality of the CMDS by setting the CMDS mode knob to BYPASS and triggering dispensing with CMS up. This should dispense one chaff and one flare per press assuming everything is switched on and working, regardless if you have any loaded EWS programs or not.

                  Next time I read such question … I close the thread immediately!

                  It is like saying: I have a problem! why!?

                  So … if you take the time to read the manual first, you will probably find the solution without making ppl losing thier time …

                  Or …

                  if, after taking a real and deep look into available manuals, you still do not find the solution, you can ask here (the forum is made for)

                  BUT … in that case, please respect the other users and give MORE informations. Because there, it is obvious that they will have to ask for more info about, what is the procedure used, which key are pressed … etc …

                  EDIT:

                  Furthermore because you have already asked the question here : https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?11589-chaff-flares and hadn’t had the politeness to thank ppl trying to help you.

                    All I would like to do is drop flares and or chaff. Why can’t I?

                    First and foremost : for such question, go into your install folder and check the docs. Mainly BMS - Dash 1. Then use the search function in the doc.

                    Second : I have some time and patience to spare, so I’ll try to help. But dont blame people for giving you a hard time when you dont put much effort into it.

                    I will assume you come from earlier versions of Falcon. Before, you could drop one chaff or one flare just with a single button press.

                    BUT : this is not how the real jet works. BMS implemented the real way counter measures are handled.
                    Basically : you dont release single chaffs & flares, you release a PROGRAM of chaff/flare. A predefined sequence of mixed chaff/flare, if you will.
                    You can program your sequences in the DTC (data cartridge). To do so : go into a tactical engagment, find the DTC button on the right of the map, then go into EWS and input your programs there.

                    There are 6 programs.
                    The first 4 are selectable via a knob on the left aux. console. (CMDS panel). You select one with the knob, and you can drop it with the command “Drop Programmed” or “CMS- Up”.
                    Program 5 is dropped directly with the button “Slap Switch”. Its not clickable on the cockpit, you have to use a keyboard button.
                    Program 6 is dropped directly with the command “CMS-left”.

                    For your information, the “CMS” is a hat on the sidestick used to operate countermeasures.

                    And to conclude : :rtfm:

                      (I was about to edit you post Cruz … and suppress you kind answer … will explain you why tonight.)

                        In all honesty, that manual can be quite overwhelming for some. I don’t know about everyone else, but I could read through a section and not have a freaking clue what I just read. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to ask a question on the forum’s without getting your head bit off. Don’t get me wrong though, I definitely encourage people to use their resources first before going to someone and asking.

                        EDIT: On the other hand, you definitely deserve to get yelled at when you post the same question twice.
