Custom GUI/UI

You may be thinking about F4ResTool?
-
I knew a tool that lets you mod the ui, but, i frankly forgot what’s the name of the tool, anybody knows it?
You may use F4ResManager. Very easy to use.
PM me, I can upload it for you, if necessary. -

I unpacked the mainbg.idx and replaced one of the tga files.
When I repack the file, it is much smaller than before (only 438kb). If I unpack it again, only one of the tga files (instead of four) are in it. Looks like the other three got lost while repacking. Can anyone give a (very) short tutorial on how to use this tool? I’d really appreciate that!

Not possible for a file to get lost while unpacking.
If you unpack a stock BMS mainbg.idx and repack it without making any changes does it stay the same?
-
Yup, it does. If I simply unpack/repack the filesize of the mainbg.rsc is 2.374kb as before.
If I simply replace one of the tga files (same resolution 1024x768, 8bpp 256 colours) and repack it, size goes down to 438 kb and there is only the DEBRIFING_IA.tga in it.Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
My settings in F4ResTool are
Local work path
use IDX target base name as subfolder (greyed out)
Pack to target
Purge work path after packing
Explore after unpackJens

Can you send me the images you are trying to add? I’ll test on my end.
(Edit : Try running the program as administrator)

I think the problem is with the .tga file. Try an alternate graphics software. I had this problem saving the .tga files using GIMP.

FYI you can save the main background screen as RGB 16bit TGA, don’t need to convert to an indexed pallet format. (Think the sim does this internally)
That being said, 24bit / 32bit TGA will not work in game.
On a side note some files such as the campaign large map must be indexed palette.
If it unpacks and repacks the stock assets without any issues, the problem is probably with the graphic format of the image.

luke777 was right. Looks like the problem was, that I converted my jpg file to tga with Gimp.
Did the same with Irfanview, and voila! It worked! Thanks guys.
