Can the Comm Menus be Hidden or Avoided Using Direct Callbacks?
-
Hi All:
I searched for “hide comms” and didn’t find it in the forums or BMS comms book for help on this.
For immersion I wanted to use callbacks to skip out on the comms menu flickering in the upper right of my view. I was going to use [Alt]+[C] combo option to have enough keys to map out the callbacks and then trigger them with VAC. So I looked in the “BMS - Full.key” and “Complete Callback List.txt” and unfortunately (in my view) it looks like many are missing for ATC.
If all the comm callbacks are not available, the next best thing I suppose would be to hide the comm menus, but I don’t see an option for that.
I hope that makes sense?
Any help much appreciated.

Try this BMS\User\Config"falcon bms.cfg" setting. If it doesn’t exist in the config file, you may add it there.
set g_bDisableCommsMenu 1

Thanks Johku: That worked like a charm. It didn’t seem to work at the top of the file for some reason so I added it to the bottom MISC settings. I don’t know… maybe I had something wrong there at the first go, but moving it appeared to make it work. Also, I find the “.commsmenu 0” for off and “.commsmenu 1” for on text window dot commands working like a champ as well. Thanks for pointing at the solution in the tech manual!
“If set to 1/true, the comms menu (tower/awacs/wingman etc.) will no longer be drawn. Default 0/false. In addition to the g_bDisableCommsMenu config option, the comms menu can also be switched on and off in-game now using the new chatline dot command “.commsmenu N” (N = 0: menu off, N = 1: menu on). This should it make it much easier to debug “failing” voice commands in-game.”

Good Day, Compadre, and good post. Turning the menu off is something I’ve considered, as well. I’ve been hesitant as I do have a couple of persistant VA gremlins to work out. So, this is perfect. One question, though, as I don’t think the coffee has kicked in yet . I’m not getting the “chatline dot command” reference. Can you share how specifically to turn the menu on/off in game?

You open the in game Chat with Ctrl T ansd enter the dot Command there
