Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37
-
DataAutoUpdate it was stuck in memory and works now.
But sometimes Path & Lines works and sometimes it doesn’t. Anyway, I live with it now, it takes too much time to look for the fault.
Many Thanks

Wonder if somehow you don’t have the latest DataAutoUpdate.exe? I know earlier versions (mine anyway) had a memory issue and just kept using more and more memory until you killed the process… This was fixed later on.

Dear comrades I have a stupid question here: My BMS is running on the same monitor as my Helios touchscreen …… How could I force it to run on the secondary 4K monitor ? I’ve tried dragging in windowed mode but as soon as I go fullscreen it jumps back to the smaller touchscreen which is set as main …
EDIT: Disregard. I’ve even tried the TVGameLauncher but to no avail, until I found out there is actually an option in the Graphic section of the Falcon BMS in game setting, to choose the output display. A simple choice and the tour est joué
Thx for this awesome setup!! Flying now is much more productive with Helios setup and the inclusion of radio commands is such a relieve !!! No more bending over and looking for keys on the keyboard anymore !!
And also are the side panels supposed to be touchable? My ICP and MFD keys all worked on the touchscreen but not most of the buttons on the side panel.

There aren’t any side panels in the latest versions of the Ice Profile. there’s a combined console, is that what’s not working?

Thx for the quick reply Link, Yes I checked the first page again and that’s how you called it, the combined console. I’m trying to do a ramp start from there but most of the switch when I touch them they doesn’t react. However I could click on them in the 3D cockpit with the mouse. And I’m just starting out, I’m trying as well to see what I can find.

Sound like a keyfile issue, did you work through all of the steps in the SetUp Guide which comes with the download?
All of the switches, knobs etc. should work if you get it set up correctly.

I think so too, because I was just using the default Warthog key profile and made some changes, but when you said copy my own over I didn’t know which one is the current one so I just used the default Ice key file. While flying around I also found out that only the axis of my input were intact, all the buttons are gone. TMS, DMS, trim etc, none of them works anymore. So I’ll compare the warthog one with Ice’s and copy over the rest, I’ll see how that goes. Thx in advance !!

Ok, I don’t know now what I’m not doing correctly, but I’ve copied every line of TQS and FLT Stick from the Basic Warthog key file to Ice’s file, reloaded it but to no use, in BMS setup it’s still saying key not binded when I press on my HOTAS. So I bind them again right there in the BMS setup, and I can use all of them now, except all those combined console still don’t work. Even the 2 AP switches on Helios main screen don’t work…

I think the best plan would be to get the Ice keyfile working first without the HOTAS bindings. So copy the basic Ice keyfile to the BMS config folder then select this in BMS and save, then open up the Ice Profile in the Helios Editor and select and save the keyfile that you just copied to the BMS config folder.
If you can get that working then you can add the HOTAS DX bindings.

Tried all nights, and tried all what you have wrote, even in different order, but still no. I mainly use the 2 AP keys and combined console main battery switch to test, but they never worked. I’m using FR keyboard but it was well set in ENG as the non English keyboard as instructed …

So if you are sure to have the key files and everything setup correctly one thing that can stop BMS from receiving inputs from Helios is if BMS and Helios Control Center are running with different user rights. So if you are running BMS with administrative rights you must run Helios with admisitrative rights as well. If BMS is runnning under your standard user account Helios must as well

Just about to say that
Also check that all of these are correct:
And of course Falcon BMS must have focus whilst in 3D in order to receive keystrokes.

Thx Oak and Link, I’ve done more testing, including user rights, Focus Assist, setting different main screens, changing monitor arrangements etc, but still no, I could never get both A/P switches nor main battery switch or oxygen green switch to react on my touchscreen. And even after I clicked with my mouse in the 3D cockpit, the switch on the touchscreen doesn’t move to reflect it’s real position.
I’m thinking if Helios is basically controlling BMS with keys, perhaps this key file is not complete? Should I try with the BMS Full Key file?

First, the basic keyfile included in the download is absolutely complete, the BMS Full keyfile definitely won’t work. Just to make sure download this copy and check that it is the same as the one you’re using.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/b8tjyzqxypf9m0n/BMS±+Ice’s+Helios+Profile.key/file
Most of the keyboard commands from the profile are one way only, so clicking in the 3D cockpit will not change switches or knobs in the profile.
I suspect you are having a keyboard problem, the main battery switch you are testing will send the following keys to BMS:
SimMainPowerMain 310 0 0x11 5 0 0 1 “ELEC: MAIN PWR Switch - MAIN”
SimMainPowerBatt 310 0 0x11 6 0 0 1 “ELEC: MAIN PWR Switch - BATT”
SimMainPowerOff 310 0 0x11 7 0 0 1 “ELEC: MAIN PWR Switch - OFF”Which are the following variations of “W”
Shift + Alt + W
Control + Alt + W
Shift + Control + Alt + WNow on an AZERTY keyboard that will send:
Shift + Alt + Z
Control + Alt + Z
Shift + Control + Alt + ZWhich of course won’t work.
So are you absolutely sure that this checkbox is ticked?
To test download and run this:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ftpgyao9t29sc0w/EventTester.exe/file
Then start the profile without BMS running and select the Main Batt switch in the profile. You should get variations of “W”.

Sorry just finished a real flight to Beijing and back. I’m sure that tick is there and I ran the tester with the profile on, When I click on the touchscreen nothing happens on the tester. I can type on the keyboard and it was well a W right there. Very strange now…

Well I’m really out of ideas.
Every switch/knob etc. in the profile should produce an output on that event tester.
When you tap or click on the touchscreen switches/knobs etc. do they actually move?
All I can think is that the profile has lost it’s key bindings, can you send me, or post a link to, a copy of the “Ice’s Falcon BMS 4.35.hpf” profile file from the Helios\Profiles folder and I’ll have a look at it.
Clutching at straws now, which version of Helios are you running?
-
All other switches move when I click on them from the touchscreen. Just not these A, Z, W, Q keys. And for these when I click on the touchscreen nothing happens, exactly like what the event tester is telling. It sure looks like a non US keyboard thing but I really don’t know where it went wrong now. I’m using the newest Helios x.1 and sure I’ll share my hpf tmrw. Thx for all your patience.
-
As you are apperently on a non English windows have you added the English language pack to windows and activated US as additional keyboard otherwise the Helios QWERTY function is not working correctly

Definitely a non US keyboard thing. I suggest you go through the “Non-US Keyboard Guide - Windows 10” again and if you get it right then you can enable the “Always use QWERTY key codes” checkbox. If you can’t enable this checkbox then you’ve got it wrong.
Moving the English (United States) language to the top of the language list is the important step.
-
Yes I can confirm I’m on a US Keyboard and I’ve actually tried all methods: exactly like that non US keyboard guide, with only ENG showing in the taskbar, or in FR while adding a US keyboard, non of them worked…. And yes I confirm English is number one on the list
It’s strange because when I click on the switch from the touchscreen there is nothing shown in the event tester. Not that A instead of Q or Z instead of W kind of stuffs but nothing, while I could physically type on my keyboard and it was all the correct keys shown in the tester.
