how do you do the actual sending of the Markpoint?
Which you send depends on FCR or HSD SOI.
-
Ok, in single player, I can see how IFF OUT and “datalink ground target” can be used with AI. I’ve tried it.
But can one use IFF IN with AI? Like if I send my AI wing my A2G FCR cursor position and issue “attack my target” or “attack targets”, without a lock, would they attack?
Also, if I XMT to say 2 my designated target in A2A FCR, what can I expect my AI wing to do? Will he automatically go after the target?
-
No, AMT is “attack the thing I’m looking at”. Falcon uses different sensors determine what “the thing I’m looking at” is. There’s even an air-to-ground padlock with its red box and that counts as TTILA. With FCR just putting the cursor over something counts. But sending a DL object doesn’t because it’s in the past. TTILA is only right now.

So IFF IN to send a DL target to AI is pointless and doesn’t do anything? I only do SP and am trying to decide if I should map IFF IN in my hotas.

Yeah I suppose comms switch right has no relevance to you in SP.

If I am lead in a flight, XMT is useless in SP too right? Or can an AI lead actually XMT to me a target?
Update: See OP.

@GrEaSeLiTeNiN AI can datalink you ground SPI. You can’t ask AI #1 to do that because you don’t have the ability to command him. He’s your commander, not you his. If you’re his commander you can demand it of him. Right now he does the ephemeral FCR-SOI type datalink point which is the asterisk on the display that goes away in a little while not the HSD-SOI persistent steerpoint.
You can transmit to AI but it doesn’t do anything in the AG context. I’m pretty sure the AA context assign 1-2-3-4 buttons will cause the AI to attack that DL assignment but I’m not 100% sure. You can use the radio “attack my target” just by slewing a sensor over a target. This command represents communicating in normal plain language what you want him to attack and isn’t electronic in nature. You can even do it with padlock if anyone still uses that.

Thanks for the tips. Just tested (4.37U2) - XMT to AI wingmen (when you are lead with preset UHF 6) still does not do anything. Would be cool if it did. Was just thinking - if the AI wingmen could respond with the slew cursor over FCR target + radio comms method, could it not be coded to also work with XMT 1,2,3 ?

Yes, 1-2-3-4 are only for in AA context , but… I’m not sure how exactly is used …
AI wingmen will target given air target but it will drop it after few seconds… why???
Any ideas?Attack my target, Attack targets, Weapons free AG - are for AG context., when radar/tgp cursor over general enemy area , just watch out what are you targeting , units or buildings.

I may have remembered old behavior or if bad memory. I thought that IDM assignment was an explicit “attack my target” command. Currently it is not doing that. I will check if it has any effect on AI target choice if more than one is available.
Attack my target/targets are also for AA context.
